  1. This may sound far fetched, but it did actually happen:

3 friends of friends donned high vis vests in West car park, complete with radios and lanyards and just breezed in through pedestrian gate D on wednesday afternoon. Their friends (who had tickets) humped their gear in for them and they just kep their heads down all weekend after that (though no one really checks wristbands etc unless you're leaving the site or draw attention to yourself in another way)

  2. Any glasto veterans that can weigh in on this would be greatly appreciated. Basically, me and my mates have decided that a great way to explore the site on thurs or friday would be to do a proper bar crawl with a list of bars scattered around the site (as opposed to our usual get 'pissed at the tents and maybe hit an indie disco' plans of the past on thursdays)

Looking at the map its all a bit overwhelming - can you reccomend some of the bars that we must stop and have a drink at? I've never normally had much money to take to glasto so avoid the bars for the most part and take my own drink, but this year we've all decided to go a bit more bold!

    Thanks!

  3. I stayed in hotel zenit and mates stayed in ibis. Both a short walk from bus station wgere the shuttle bus picks up abd drops Off. Taxi from bus drop off point (don't bother with bus on way up if the queue is bad) costs 6euris. Buses on way down are much easier as there was never a queue. Food is the only real negative. The festival site is great.

  4. We stayed in a hotel in Bilbao. Nice city, bit of a bollock to get food etc (certainly not that many restaurants, but there is a mall with McDonalds etc in if you're that way inclined). Lots of bars in old town though. Didn't get the bus up to festival site each day as the queue was always crazy. Just around the corner from the bus pick up point was a taxi rank (6 euros up to the site)

The site itself is great. Good sound, lots of bars (a litre of beer is 7euros, but go for the red wine and coke). Not much going in terms of food but its a really nice vibe. Nice bean bag area in main arena if u want to chill out. I even had a free massage on the first day.

    Tons of ozzies there!

Overall for the money you can't go wrong. Not sure how the camping would have been but overall it was nice.

  5. Pearl Jam are a great live band! Never play the same set twice, never go through the motions - they would be an amazing booking. They don't however seem to have a huge regard for where they are playing (ie even at Isle of Wight last year with a festival audiencce, they didnt exactly bust out a hit packed set...)

  6. Back on to the more related topic of sales(!), did anyone else happen to see the Reading/Leeds TV advert during homeland the other day. First time I can remember the festival adverstising on TV. Have seen a lot more in terms of the lineup poster ad in local music mags in Cardiff, and even lineup posters on billboards and rotundas close to uni buidlings. They are obviosuly pushing a bit more this year, or sales are even lower than we think....

  7. Sorry if this has already been posted, but had an email last week from HMV

    http://www.hmvtickets.com/events/5794?utm_source=email

Tickets avaialble from 6.15pm (an hour beore genreal onsale) in:

Leeds Headrow, Reading Oracle, Birmingham High Street, Birmingham Bull Ring, Bristol Broadmead, Cardiff, Liverpool One, London Oxford Circus, London Trocadero, Newcastle, Nottingham Victoria Centre, Oxford, Portsmouth Commercial Road and Southampton

May be useful if we do get a leak today, and i'll pop in later to see if paying in cash eliminates any of the booking fees....

  8. I can speak from a position of knowledge that venues have next to no say about allocations of tickets. The decision of who gets tickets is primarily down to the promoter of the show.

I hate this argument that 'viagogo' creates a secure safe way for fans to purchase tickets. So does the primary market!!! Why not allocate more to the primary market! Sure, we'd go back to the black market and ebay scum and the odd story of touts scamming people by not turning up to meets etc, but thats gotta be better than this situation we're in now.

Promoters and secondary sellers are in bed with one another - end of. They are falsely inflating prices for tickets. Why not just add a bit onto the primary market price if theyre that worried about making extra cash - at least it'd be a more transparent process.

The only thing I can think that'll solve it will be a cap on profits. As i said, it may create an underground blakc market again, but i'd take that over a wholesale butt fucking by the major promoters
