  1. well, Longitude in Ireland (Latitudes sister event) has now been cancelled for the 1st week in July - but that was only because the Irish government declared no gatherings over 5000 people until September  - Festival Republic have said they wont cancel anything until the respective governments impose a direct ban - so we are going to have to see what the UK Government says

Yeah, I agree. They want the cash in the bank in the hope people will just roll over tickets.

Was going to be my first Latitude but right now I’d rather it didn’t go ahead. I don’t fancy being in a crowd even three months down the road. We’re in a global pandemic and thousands of people are dying.

I really don’t fancy risking mixing in crowds mid summer when right now I won’t even stand within 2m of someone I don’t live with!  The prospect of it going ahead is crazy.

Hey, whenever your First Latitude comes around, youre going to enjoy it!!!

  3. Those who bought their tickets using the instalment plan have to pay their final instalment on 1st May - Latitude wont be cancelled before then - they'll want all the ticket sales money in first - THEN they can cancel and offer to roll over the tickets to next year, without having to do too many refunds (and get to keep the money in their bank).

However, they don't have to make a decision until June, because the build time will be much shorter (no waiting for equipment or crews to come from other festivals) - they can have it built in less than 2 weeks now, particularly as the crews and suppliers will be falling over themselves to earn something this season.

A good indicator will be whether they cancel Wireless festival (1st week in July). which they haven't done yet, and which is also a Festival Republic show, just like Latitude

  4. Chapple you are so right - Acts will be falling over themselves to get bookings for next year, so if the booking teams play their cards right we could see some interesting additions to line ups in most festivals next year (and maybe the back end of this year if any go ahead)

  5. sooner or later, Business and the economy will take priority over peoples health, and there will be a lot of pressure from big business on the government to end the lockdown.

Id expect the government to start easing things end of april/may, and that by July/August they'll start allowing large gatherings again, so im sure we will see festivals this year, although they'll all be crammed into a short as time frame as possible.

That then throws up the question of the weather!!!

FR seem to be saying they're going ahead as planned until the government say they can't so unless after the lock down they decide to go further (which seems likely) they can't really comment until then but I think it must be hard to comment now when there are still 3-4 months to go however I do think they'll allow tickets to roll over should they cancel and also they usually have a good reputation for re-booking acts who couosnt perform the year before so I imagine they'll attempt that next year

Absolutely - and with glasto and drownload being cancelled already they can shorten the build time for Latitude, so it gives them a bit more time before they have to make a decision:) - Being part of Live Nation FR has the pick of the acts for any of their festivals, so they shouldn't have a problem at all in rebooking whoever they want whenever they want:)

They shouldn’t be, everyone pays the same money. We only arrived late due to an issue at home. I was staggered by the complete lack of organisation and how much space early arrivals were allowed  blag themselves.

last year was the complete opposite, very well organised although the Marshall parking us was a bit over bearing, completely went off on one when I backed up a few feet to put my levellers down, went a bit Italian traffic warden, I tried explaining but he went off on a rant about the fire lane, which I got but he then put a motorhome next to us that was about 4 foot longer which then spent the weekend half blocking the fire lane🙄🙄

you obviously didn't give him enough beer vouchers:)

I think there a minimum space between each van but I forget what it is, you get enough space for an awning, they will ask if you have one, unless it’s a mahoosive awning you should be fine.

there were space issues last year, the marshalls did a piss poor job and late arrivals struggled to get in, the live in vehicles are in a different, bigger field this year so unless they have got greedy hopefully space won’t be an issue.

IOW and Kendal calling actually mark out spaces so everyone knows where they stand, makes it much easier on arrival and they know they have space for everyone.

someone on here or maybe a different forum said the marshalls have been told to be strict this year  on people trying to blag more space than they are entitled to.

we arrived on Friday afternoon last year and really struggled to find space, walking around looking for room it was staggering how much room some people appear to need and manage to blag.

The only way youre going to manage to get a decent sized plot is to arrive on Thursday afternoon/evening - Friday arrivals, particularly in the afternoon are almost left to fend for themselves im afraid

  9. If you are put on furlough the rules say you mustn't do any work at all for the employer who put you on furlough - no answering work emails, taking work phone calls, nothing. You can however go and do paid work for someone else in the meantime (but obviously you have to declare as another job to HMRC and pay the usual tax/NI). The employer can put you on and off furlough whenever they like - some employers I know are rotating their staff - giving some a 3 week furlough, then taking them back on and giving some others a 3 week furlough, just to share it out

I think overall it will. But it shouldn't. Personally i think they should be banned until a treatment or vaccination are available

The unnecessary spread that would happen, especially if surfaces are the main way, would contribute to overwhelming the NHS.

on top of the vaccination issue, I wonder how many people will actually have the spare cash to be able to afford to go to a festival this year (even if any of them are still happening) - this pandemic is hitting most people hard - I reckon a lot will give this year up as a bad job and look forward to next years offerings

  11. Crews are due to start building on Monday 22nd June for this years Latitude. Equipment and crew comes primarily from Glasto and Drownload, but as theyre both cancelled they wont have the problem of stuff coming to site in dribs and drabs.

Latitude takes 3 and a half weeks to build, then just over 2 weeks to take down, with the equipment and crew moving on to Reading and Leeds.

Festival Republic will hang on for as long as humanly possible before making a decision - after all, they will want to get all the ticket instalment payments in and banked before they have to start thinking about refunding it (hoping that most people will prefer to transfer their tickets for next year)
