  4. Going alone, anyone done before

    Have gone alone several times, had a great time always... I've camped in Quiet myself as I prefer a bit of calm overnight and a chance to get extra kip, but have always got to know the people camping around me and then just chat to anyone thats interested, if they aren't then walk on and chat to someone else! As SOAD says Download is easily the friendliest festival I've been to as well and never had any issues camping alone, it takes guts to convince yourself to do it the first time, but once you do then you wont regret it

    Yeah I'm in with that, almost had a seizure when I saw Slayer headlining Saturn and Maiden headlining Apollo but then remembered the alternating stage thing... Going to be an interesting dash between the 2 stages that night!

    But overall I'm happy enough with that, bring it on!

    Worst announcement for me so far. Have to admit the lineup is looking a little less strong after the last couple of announcements. Plenty to keep me happy anywayz but I'm a bit confused how they are gonna fill Apollo and Saturn atm.

    Certainly expecting a fair few names out this time, I mean compare the 20 bands announced so far for Sonisphere versus the around 70 for Download it would be nice to get a stronger lineup out there now, yes there are some good names announced but lets add a bit of substance!!

    Also given the reaction to the fact that there will be no Saturn Stage on Friday building up a strong lineup for the Friday on the Apollo would be good... Mind you, I am trying to remember the wording now, but thinking back I am sure that the question was if there would be a Saturn stage lineup for Friday, which the answer was no... But I don't believe I have seen any confirmation that the stages will be called "Apollo" and "Saturn" this year, so if there is no stage called Saturn then there wouldn't be a lineup for it, right???

    I also like to see a few curveballs in announcements but after Chas and Dave I am not sure how much more curved they could get!

    Gone pretty quiet around here with rumours and such... Any thoughts on who will see on Wednesday's announcement? Should imagine that we are going to start seeing a bit of filler now but still hoping for a few decent names added

    basically the pricing is the same as most major events/stadium shows - at the o2 arena, wembley, emirates it was all around that price from memory.

    but still it sucks.

    probably with the lower pricing they could have sold more and made more monies but hey that's their decision

    So you can guarantee with a 50p hike in booze prices they will be even stricter on the gates this year, usually manage to get a few cans through, hope its still doable this time around. Mind you there is only a limited number of security versus a lot of attendees so should still manage it if you aren't being too blatant... And then there is always the walk to the arena, and thats easily a 4 can walk...

    Currently practicing with a few beers in Berlin, head home Sunday evening, work Monday, Tuesday half of Wednesday, last minute panic Wednesday afternoon then off first thing Thursday! Bring it the chuff on!!!

  24. Cash Bar or Vouchers?

    Always tokens for the bars in DL, except for those in the guest pass area, but never had much of a queue at all, of course those nearest the gates fill up as soon as they open, but you just don't go to those walk a bit further and you will be sorted...

    Remember in 09 I think it was when I walked in and got told by the bar staff on the bar I walked up to that they could only serve people with a challenge 21 wrist band on... Now I am in my 30s now and probably look older so asked if they were having a laugh as I hadn't brought any form of ID with me for security reasons and he said "Nope, doesn't matter what you look like, have to have your ID checked and have a wrist band before we serve you, its a new policy" left there thinking if thats the case a full scale riot will kick off in about 3 minutes... Walked to the next token seller and got lots of tokens straight off... Bloody jobsworth...

    ANYWAY, back on topic, getting tokens has never been an issue for me and as for running out of beer??? Good heavens above, don't think that is too much of an issue either, have to say that as far as getting served is concerned Download has never been an issue and have always had drinks as and when I wanted them without any queues... Only the bloody Calzone has the queue!
