Have no way of knowing if this is true but the guy we stayed with during the last couple of years at Balado was adam ant that T in the Park owned a lot of the surrounding fields. He reckons that the move was due to arguments with other local land owners over the purchase price of land T wanted to buy. I should also add that he thought the threat to move was only a threat but he was convinced the long term future was Balado.
Does anyone if Geoff has a " contract " with Tennents ?
I know I`m in the minority but I actually liked the new site after giving last year a miss.
T actually owned less land than you would think. Just I couple of areas at the centre of the site. The rest was leased.

some people say it's full of neds and crap bands, while others post pictures of no crowds at decent bands.
Something isn't hanging together.
Don't really see the disconnect here.
People go to festivals as a package. Very few festivals where I would go to see just one band (though I have in the past for Radio head). The package, music wise, it isn't something that attracts me anymore. Would have definitely gone to see LCD if I was there though. But then i'm 35.
Still a crowd (8 or 9) of us that go to at least one festival each year, normally in Europe. Cheaper, and more varied line ups. Happy to leave T to the kids these days. Probably not enough people my age to make it work anyway. For example, I know how much it was going to cost to book the Smashing Pumpkins and Portishead a few years back, as opposed to say a David Guetta or an Avicci last year.
Makes economic sense if your targets are the 18-24 year old market and you arn't selling out.

They could find better people to run the dance tent.
The Slam Tent has been utter shit for years. Nothing more than a jolly for them and their shit DJ mates. It's like groundhog day at times. Same people playing year after year after year.
The Colours / Streetrave crew can put on a better party than Slam ever could.
Like Red Day says above, I doubt I'll ever go back. Ellis won't change it because he's more interested in your money than providing you with a decent lineup. It's a festival for teenagers nowadays. Teens in the Park.
Nonsense. The Slam tents been the only decent thing at T for years.
And I would class myself as one of the original streetrave crew. Been going for well over 20 years.

Voted for Boards of Canada.
However, given they have only ever played live 3 or 4 times, and not in the last 14 years, I'm going to say this is rather unlikley.

Really pleased with that update.

First two albums are ok, didnt think he was very good live though

* Pure Speculation *
The folk we were staying with are not convinced we have seen the end of T at Balado.
They understand that Tennents own the land for the current site. Word locally is that they are still trying to buy more land to one side of the current site ( this is being denied by both sides ). If this was succesful then they would be able to have people camping above the pipeline but not need to drill down into that area for the stage rigs etc.
They reckon that it can only work out if they get this land as there is a quarry at the other side ?
Just to point out again, this could well be bull but it could give the site a " rest " for a year and if there is a grain of truth in it then moving would maybe force the hand of the potential land seller.
IF.....it`s true then look out for rumours of problems with the new site at the castle.
Has anyone else heard anything on this ?
My original thoughts on the move were that they were downsizing to save face. Was this the first year they have split weekend camping tickets into day tickets a couple of weeks before to try and shift some ? Don`t they normally claim it`s sold out ?

Slam tent looking decent

The Black Keys
Bloc Party
Blink-182
Daft Punk
Fatboy Slim
Fall Out Boy
Florence and the Machine
Franz Ferdinand
Jack White
Paramore
The Prodigy
Pulp
Skrillex
All suitable replacements for the position in my opinion. I know some of them are unavailable that weekend, but T could have booked them long ago before they were booked by other festivals. Plenty of variety in there to offer something different against Rihanna. Several have released new albums since they last played T.
Out of curiosity, does Fatboy Slim refuse to ever play TITP because he's so closely linked to Rockness? Just I can't recall him playing T off the top of my head.

Yeah, fantastic slam tent line up.

There was an armed guard at the Columbine school. It didn't do much good there.

Germany really fluked that win last night. Lucky bastards.

What chance do we have when players who played as well as Bale did for the most part last night, resort to cheating?
My kids game kicks off at 11.00 today. You keep telling them that cheating is wrong, then they watch their heros do it on TV....
-
Do. Its really good and gets better with repeat listens.

All I can compare it with is against other providers along the same or similar routes. My idea of a good price is based on my experience of using the rail network on a frequent basis. That is all any service user can do.

Managed to fit in about 14/15 shows at the festival so far.
Andrew Maxwell probably the best at the moment.

Making kids fitter at school, damn that corrupt government.

They will also insure again the result going the otherway. So win-win-win

Anyone think Rod Stewart might headline?he's scottish and would be amazingu to see!
-
Quite crazy to think that Bowie was going to heading a while back.
That would never happen now...
You'd think the Killers would be a stick on, probably along with Franz and Biffy.

And there in a nutshell is why T is such a fuckin nedfest . The most aggressive festival vibe in the country

Aberdeen airport runway does. As do a hell of a lot of houses. The only thing I would say is that its not at the same depth the whole way.
