  1. Anyone else see Power Trip at Camden Underworld last night?? First time I've seen them live. Wow. That's what it must have felt like to see Metallica or Pantera or Slayer in a small venue before they became massive back in the 80s. Very exciting band. They would blow Download apart on a Friday or Saturday 7pm ish slot.

AC's said he's already offered out a headline spot for 2020 so that's gotta be Metallica.

Not necessarily. Could be a newbie based on crowd reaction this year. I've still got a sneaky suspicion (and hope) that it's Parkway Drive. They're packing arenas and stadiums across Europe as I type this. And their Sat night second stage headline this year was incredible. Crowd was more involved than for anything else I saw all weekend. But I mean, this is all conjecture right!

I do think Parkway will headline but not next year, doubt they'll even be on the bill next year unless a similar band screams out for them as main stage subs. You don't want to force a band upwards and bringing them back to headline the following year on the back of an admittedly amazing 2nd stage set would be too soon. If they keep up the momentum and bang out another Reverence, they'll headline 2020.

    That'd suit me!

In any case I've just booked RIP tickets for 2019 so whoever plays it's gonna be awesome

    Maybe something like:

Headliners: Bring Me the Horizon / Metallica / Slipknot

Sub-Headliners: Enter Shikari / Anthrax  / Five Finger Death Punch

Zippo Headliners Ghost / Architects / Don Broco

Avalanche Headliners Reel Big Fish / Taking Back Sunday / Code Orange

Elsewhere on the Bill: Zeal and Ardour / The Darkness / Alestorm / Higher Power / Cannibal Corpse / Tonight Alive / Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes / Ghost / Machine Head /

I don't think we'll see Machine Head. They've given up festivals to focus on their "An Evening With..." concept which has been really successful for them. I saw the recent gig at the Roundhouse having followed their every tour since Burn My Eyes. It was incredible. 3 hours of MH! Even got a five star write up in The Guardian of all places!

  5. Slayer will be in the mix as they have a new album out.

After the success of Reverance and the sell-out US tour, plus stepping up to arena-sized venues in the UK this year, Parkway Drive would be an awesome Friday night headliner. Their performance headlining the second stage on Saturday this year was absolutely 10/10. Crowd went crazy and there are plenty of anthems in their set now to get a bigger crowd singing.

My money is on Iron Maiden headlining the Sunday next year as they'll be pushing a new album.

So I'll hope for Parkway Drive (Friday), Metallica (Saturday), Maiden (Sunday).  And in the lineup I want to see Trivium, Power Trip, Savage Messiah, The Raven Age, Symphony X, Megadeth, Slayer, Paradise Lost, In Flames, Circus Maximus, Alien Weaponry.

The latter band are smashing the shit out of the charts in NZ, getting amazing write-ups so would be good to see them come over for a morning slot.
