I've been attending Primavera for the last three years and as everyone knows the undercard is strong and the headliners are a mixed bag but they've had at least one headliner which is responsible for selling a lot of tickets. I struggle to see such a headliner this year. I wasn't familiar with much of this line-up but have been checking out what people have been recommending and find it quite underwhelming. I'm interested in the following:
Built to Spill
Efrim Menuck
FKA Twigs
Fucked Up
GBV
Jawbreaker
June of 44
Nas
The Necks
Primal Scream
Shellac
Stereolab
Tim HeckerInterpol if they just play Turn on the Bright Lights. Saw Low just a couple months ago. Sons of Kemet I saw last month and would check out again if there was no conflict with one of the acts above. I'm sure there will be a few conflicts, so can bank on missing at least a couple bands.
The current poster on the site doesn't have a larger font for headliners, is this the new normal? Doing away with hierarchies and trying to emphasize the overall line-up instead of a few select acts.
I don't find anything essential or inspiring this year. I haven't decided whether I will go, but when all else fails the Adidas stage usually delivers. However, I'm afraid it will be much more crowded this year because of the lack of headliners and several bland acts. It's clear they are promoting younger female acts. I've heard many of them and only find Julien Baker vaguely interesting, hopefully they put her in Auditori. I can only assume this strategy will draw more 20 something girls. I will be surprised if this sells out anytime soon and can imagine the headlining stages being half empty. Does the concept of such stages even make sense without true headliners? This is a bold move by Primavera. Will the audience trust them and follow? I really do wonder what the motivation is this year, selling tickets doesn't seem to be it.

I agree it does seem scarifices were made to beef up the dance acts. Crossing over that bridge was a nightmare later at night this year, don't recall that in previous years. The dance area is fairly large so it makes sense if they want to grow the festival, they need to draw more people into this area. I made it over a couple times and it still wasn't completely packed but if it grows bigger, additional alternatives are need to cross over. I noticed many more Spanish people in attendace this year compared to previous years, which I see as a positive. I don't know if that was due to the line-up, the discounted tickets, or a combination.
Unexpected was the best part of the festival for me last year. It also creates a buzz. Don't know why the chose to ditch it this year.
I found the Wednesday was stronger this year with Spiritualized and Belle & Sebastian playing. The club shows aren't as strong this year. For me Thursday was a real stong day with Bjork, Nick Cave, and Four Tet. On Friday, I was most looking forward to seeing Mogwai, The National, and Shellac. Unfortunately, they were all playing at the same time.
Primavera has been trying to diversify away from rock basked acts to draw as many people as possible. I guess there will always be the Adidas stage.

Lots to be excited about today. Car Seat Headrest, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Slowdive, Grizzly Bear, Arctic Monkeys, Jon Hopkins, The Blaze...
Can't imagine I can fit anything else in on top of that but tips are welcome as always.
Gutted that Jonsi's project clashes with some of that - can you just wander in and out of the warehouse or is it a case of sticking it out once you're in there? Could skip RBCF to take a look.
It appeared people were popping in and out during the performance. If you don't want to stay for the whole thing, I would suggest going for the last hour.

Jonsi's side project Liminal Soundbath was the highlight for me yesterday. They are playing again today. I think Los Planetas was the unexpected act but this may have gotten lost in the shuffle with the Migos cancellation. I only hung around to see them for a couple of songs but the attendance was quite sparse considering the typical zoo around Mordor.

I wouldn't necessarily rule out unexpected just because didn't happen the first main day. Wouldn't be surprised for something unexpected on hidden stage today.

Last year, I don't recall even what acts played at the Forum on Wednesday and only attended the club shows. This year I went specifically to see both Spiritualized and Belle and Sebastian as did many other full festival ticket holders. Last year the lines at the club shows were a nightmare and this year it was the Forum. I think many people were worn out for the Forum and decided to skip the clubs this year and that explains why it was nothing like last year.

I'm also looking for a spare. Wasted 90 mins in que

I think there could be Unexpected acts on any of the festival days on the Heineken stage, especially the 8:30 slot on Friday.
On Thursday, I think there could be an Unexpected act around 8 on the Warehouse stage.
