As I said earlier, I was there and he was clearly drunk and not thinking properly. It definitely wasn't malicious and he appeared to have intended to jump on and ride around on the back of the carpet for a laugh. However, the people around were genuinely quite worried about the performer and it took him a while to get up again. The guy who jumped on (as you can see from the video) completely misjudged what he was doing and landed with a lot of force. The carpet stopped for a while.
Basically, I still think it was stupid and that the police should have had a quiet word because the guy was clearly plastered. It's also not cool to put somebody else in danger, particularly when you are doing it to get a laugh from friends. But it was definitely a long way from any attempt at humiliating a performer or being deliberately disrespectful.

I didn't really see to be honest. It looked as though he got up and walked away, and left the other people to help the performer up and back onto his carpet. But he may very well have apologised.

I was there when this happened (in Williams Green). The performer looked as though he had been hurt at first but fortunately then got up and continued his act to huge cheers. The worst part of it was that two policemen nearby were watching and did absolutely nothing, although there were some security who helped the performer up and checked he was OK. I would have expected the police at least to speak to the guy who stupidly jumped on the carpet and warn him not to do anything like that again.
It was clearly a case of a drunken idiot trying to jump on the back to have a ride.

Although actually, I assumed he was drunk because of the way he ran up recklessly and then walked off. If he wasn't drunk and just did it for a laugh then I agree that he was even more of an idiot than I thought at the time.
