yep, bigger crowd than last night's subs got, but the Pyramid still looks less than full for Gibbo. ELO seem to have permanently killed off the era of the 'mega legend' being the number one draw of the weekend.

Looks like it's filling up quite quickly now

Crowd at rag n bone man dangerously large, crushes on the walkway

From the TV it looks like the people down the front have tons of room around them, as in actual large gaps between people. Seems to be a common problem that people see a large crowd and stay put at the back rather than moving forward where there's tons of space

Bryce was talking to the crowd and Matt just cut him off :D Seemed like a proper asshole to me at that moment but maybe that was just my impression.

just seemed like some banter to me? I thought Matt was saying how he Bryce is always on the screen cause he's better looking or something? Are there other rumours that they're not getting on well or something?

Casual fan of theirs and I really enjoyed it. Sounded class on the box. Crowd looked really tiny though which was a shame and a bit of a surprise. Didn't think it would be huge but surely bigger than that.

Yeah seemed like a similarly sized crowd to Nick Cave in 2013. Not sure why they were booked as sub headliners as they're clearly not popular enough in the UK for that slot just yet, though I'm sure it'll happen. At least the crowd that was there looked quite into it, which I'd prefer to a larger crowd of Foo Fighters fans stood there looking bored

To repeat - they played four songs from their biggest and most famous album - indeed one of the biggest albums of the last 30 years or so in terms of impact - in the first 8. If that's a "lull" during the first hour...

Unfortunately yes that is a lull for people that aren't familiar with their albums! Playing the first hour without a well known single or hit isn't going to persuade people on the fence to hang around. As Radiohead fans we know that Lucky etc are well known Radiohead songs, but they're not well known to the general public. All I'm saying is that they could have spread the hits out more, so instead of it being a barrage at the end they could have been spread a bit more to keep people interested.

As an example, Coldplay in 2011 opened their set with a song that nobody knew and wasn't even released yet. But they hit back with Yellow and In My Place as #2 and #3 to keep the crowd on side. Radiohead played a downbeat piano number and 5 album tracks for their first 6 songs. I mean, who outside of people already keen Radiohead fans would know any of those first 6 or 7 tracks?

I'm not saying the gig was a bad one at all, clearly it was fantastic for many people. But there are lots of reports that people were streaming out within half an hour (as happens with a lot of headliners to be fair), and I'm suggesting that the opening to the set didn't do much to help prevent this

Sorry but this is just daft. A lot of this subjective so it's fair enough to say you didn't enjoy it, but to say it was a set for "die hard fans" is ridiculous. They played four songs from OK Computer in the first 8 songs! They played just about every big song they've ever put out.

Very difficult to have any respect for your opinion when you claim they made the crowd wait 60 minutes before they played something for a wider audience. It's just demonstrably false. I've been to Radiohead festival sets where they've done something similar to what you describe. This was the exact polar opposite of a set for die hard fans.

The criticisms people have of the screens though is entirely valid. I don't know what possessed them to have those visuals on the big screens.

I'd say you're both kinda right. The set was filled with hits yes, but I can easily see how the first six songs would have lost the casuals in the crowd before the hits came out however. Daydreaming, 15 Step, Myxomatosis and probably Airbag/Lucky too would be unknown to the people that only know their main singles, and unfortunately you need both fans and non-fans on side for headline sets. If they'd have put Paranoid Android somewhere in those first 6 songs I think there'd have been less heading elsewhere

About the visuals - yeah they're bloody annoying. They had them when I first saw then in '08 and clearly they haven't learned since. People were complaining back then so I've got no idea why they insist on them. The combo of bad sound mix (for first few songs) + poor visuals + lack of hits during the early part of the set would certainly have put some off

Absolutely amazing set list in my opinion. Thom's voice seemed a little shaky in a couple of songs but it will undoubtedly be the musical highlight for this year for me.

Surprised by the crowds. We were a little further back than usual, but it seemed one of the more empty pyramid headliners that I can remember seeing.

The one downside for me was that I was really hoping for Fitter Happier to be 'played' and into Electioneering.

I wasn't there but I was a bit worried beforehand that they'd struggle to attract a large crowd and more importantly, keep it if they don't get off to a good start with some hits. What size crowd are we talking relative to other headliners (I know that's difficult to guess at)? I'm assuming there were large spaces empty at the back of the field?

I'm a bit worried about seeing them in manchester next week if the visuals were so bad that the people at the 'back' were giving up on it, and they weren't actually that far back compared to other headliners!
