  1. Despite the positive reports, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed and packing for all seasons. Everyone remembers when we had a months' worth of rain in 5 hours (2004?) following the hottest day of the year!

  2. haha this thread really took off!

Basically i have a tall tent which I love very much but it doesn't have a porch, I wanted to create a small partition (so I'm not talking about a massive windbreak, just a small cheap one) for those late night fabric bottle necessities and it seemed like a good option.. there are just some things that shouldn't be shared with your other half no matter how in love you are!

  3. ok, so not so much windbreaks, just people fencing themselves in.

Can't say i really get the hate towards it though, windbreak or as you so nicely put it, kick in the face / chuck piss on people. I know which offends me more!

  4. Royal Mail typically deliver next day special delivery and if they miss you it will go to the nearest depot for collection.

You've nothing to worry about to be honest. If it's not there tomorrow it will be by Monday at the latest I reckon.

Worst case scenario if it all goes tits up you can arrange to collect at the festival so don't stress.

  5. As people have said already, please don't be tempted to smuggle glass onto site. As no matter how good your intentions common sense often goes out of the window after a few drinks you don’t want to be responsible for getting broken glass everywhere. The rules state no glass so that means no glass.

You can get fizz in cans fairly readily or as mentioned earlier there are bars on site if you want the real thing. Best bet is get a few cans and enjoy your celebration without causing any harm to the animals or the farm.

  6. I think they say that you can still be asked for ID but as far as I’m aware it very rarely happens anymore. As long as the picture on the ticket resembles him in some way there’s not really a great deal they can argue with as all the photo ID you need is on the ticket itself.

Like I said I’d contact the festival office if you need reassurance but in all honesty I really wouldn’t worry about it. If Glastonbury started turning people away because they didn’t have ID it would kinda make a mockery of having your photo on the ticket.

It's not like there's any legal aspect involved here they simply want you to prove that you're the person on the ticket. Not difficult when your picture's on the front of it.

  7. The best thing to do at this stage would be to contact the festival office and explain your predicament. They'll be able to advise you best on what steps to take.

  8. What do you mean by “to get him in”? Is he under 12 and you need to prove it in order to get in sans ticket? Is he over 18 and looks young for his age? Are you just taking ID to match his ticket?

The only circumstance under which you’ll need any ID really is if you need to prove that he’s under 12. Otherwise it’s not an issue.

  9. No offence but i love to see this question posted.

It reminds me of my first few Glastonburys. I was always amazed that i could take a bag of beer everywhere on site and just sit drinking anywhere, the market stalls, the stages, the cafes and the bars. It is so strange to be somewhere like the Pussy Parlor and a waitress says "what would you like to drink" and you reply "nothing thanks i have a bag of cans with me" :-)

    Love it!
