SO, with first bus out of action and the trains out of action what are people who live in Pompey doing for travel?

I live right by Lakeside but the thought of dropping, no word of a lie £120, for an 8 mile round trip each day for a family of four is insane. I mean, a weekend bus ticket for the entire Isle of Wight was £30 or something.

However, I've not had much luck with the buses that were laid on in the past and had several buses drive past me full.

I wasn't planning on doing the park and ride anyway, but shocked at how much they are charging for a return bus ticket. I've never done it, but a mate has, and there is no chance he would have paid anywhere near that, so they've definitely hiked it this year.

I also live in walking distance of Lakeside and have always bussed it on the number 2 without any issues. Not going to be an option this year, so the 23 it is. They're running until 1:30 I think on Friday and Saturday, so hopefully that will spread the demand out. It would be worth checking if the stop before Palmerston Road is in use, as that should beat the crowd. They have closed it previously though.

  2. The last time I took the NE coach was in 2017, and I would say at least half the people had cracked open a cold one, me included. Fully intend to do so again this year 😁.

As Beerqueen said, these aren't the normal NE coaches. It will depend on the driver though, so hoping for another one who looks the other way.

  3. Big thumbs up to the litter crew, great job.  However, I thought this was the worst year litter wise I have been to (haven't been since 2014).  That is a criticism of the litter bugs though, and not the people responsible for cleaning it up.

didn't some of those blow up?

The festival ones weren't the ones that blew up.  Similar power bars, but for reasons I can't remember, the festival ones were okay.

  5. There is also the option of getting a shuttle bus into Glastonbury town or Shepton Mallet and buying brewskies from the supermarket there.  It is not nearby, so will take a couple hours of your day, but if done on the Thursday or early morning, can be done without missing too much.  I usually do the Thursday, and then Saturday morning if I have been especially 'thirsty'.

  6. Hi, Benny here.  Long time listener, first time caller.  Long time lurker, first time poster.  Been on here quite a bit the last few weeks looking for rumours and waiting for the line-up to drop, so thought it's about time I signed up!

This year will be Glasto #5, with the other four being 2008, 2009, 2010 & 2014.  Would have been more in between if I could have got tickets.
