Thing is, if it was then surely Nick Cave would be subbing them rather than Arctic Monkeys? The Killers subbed by London Grammar on Friday when they've got Arctic Monkeys, Nick Cave and NIN on the Sunday makes no sense to me. For ages I thought it was gonna be AM on Friday and The Killers joining Nick Cave on Sunday and that being everything, but now I feel like there must be someone else to come along with The Killers.

Most likely it's just that Nick Cave is booked for some other festival on the Friday, but hasn't been announced yet. Roskilde is missing a Friday headliner.

God if the final headliner is Arctics Monkeys then this lineup is mad...

    Pearl Jam - Justice

    Arctic Monkeys - Massive Attack

QOTSA - Depeche Mode - NIN

Plus ATDI, Black Madonna and a few other great acts, too.

Don't think it can compete at all with what Rock Werchter achieved this year.

Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Linkin Park, System Of A Down, Kings Of Leon and Arcade Fire.

Plus Imagine Dragons, Lorde, Prophets Of Rage, Royal Blood and Blink-182.

Just saw that Against Me have been added to Roskide weekend before.

Roskilde is the same weekend as RW. The festival it self starts Saturday, yes, but the music starts on Wednesday. :)

Against Me is therefore very likely for RW too.

  4. 24 new acts just confirmed including Father John Misty, who will play Orange Main Stage. Nothing else major in this announcement, but personally happy to see A Day To Remember was there.

94 out of about 175 acts announced by now, so still a lot more to come. Full line up released in the beginning of April.

See how close you can get the hotel to the festival, but driving may be a nightmare to get out of the parking zone if you go down too early on the first day. I do a 15/20 minute walk to a car park (NCP ~£15 a day) and thats quite easy.

If you get a hotel say a 30 minute walk from the festival gates, it may not be cost efficient to get a hire car and park, would be easier to get a train (They aren't nightmares from Gatwick to Reading).

The closest affordable hotel I can find at the moment is a 45 minute walk, which can be okay.

Through some quick flight search it looks like we'll be arriving in Stansted - it's the cheapest and has the best times.

  6. If Eminem gets announced as the last headliner, a friend and I have decided to go to Reading. The plan is to fly to one of the outskirt airports of London, rent a car and book a hotel in the Reading area. We get the feeling that avoiding the trains will be smart. When we'll be heading to the festival, we assume it'll be possible to park the car a mile or so from the site and then walk from there (like Reading West Station area).

Can some of you experienced goers say if that's a good plan, or are there some sort of parking restrictions in Reading we should be familiar with? We have ruled out to camp at the festival.

Sorry my bad. But they can easily play on 30th or 2nd because most of these big bands are playing 3 to 4 live shows in a row.

"Easily" is stretching it quite a bit. I'd say the possibility of any big band playing Finland -> Belgium -> Sweden in three days is not existing. DJ's or smaller acts might be able to do it. Finland -> Day off -> Sweden -> Belgium is a whole other story and will be the case with The Killers, if they're booked for Rock Werchter.

I think the pattern for big bands over the last couple of years has been they're trying to avoid doing three shows in a row unless it's geographically close. Still, Bring Me The Horizon played Roskilde -> Bråvalla -> Werchter -> Provinssirock in a row last year. Even with just playing one hour-sets, I can only imagine how exhausting it must have been at the end.

Worse thing is they changed the dates to a week before, last year they started doing this.

It has to do with they want the last Saturday of the festival to be the first Saturday in July.

2018 will take place from 30 June to 7 July, because 7 July is the first Saturday in July. :)

  9. Every remotely decent spaces to camp will be long gone by then. I can only suggest you try the bottom of area J or P.

From there you should also prepare yourself for quite a journey to the festival area. It will easily take at least 20 minutes (30 minutes to Orange Main Stage) in a sober condition, which may not be the case. :D Make sure to bring lots of beer to kill the walking time.

I'd watch the videos from that show. The empty seats are more than noticeable. Dunno why they'd lie about that but it certainly looks like they did.

Yeah that true, i was there and the back looked empty. The lower tier was classfied as general admission, so was a free for all and not allocated seating.

    Guess limited by capacity

Yes, lower tier and floor were combined GA which sold out pretty quickly. Most people just decided to be at the floor than at the lower back tier.

Can't remember how full the upper tier was, but a couple of days before the show there was still tickets available. Still, the media claimed it was a sold out show. Wierd, yes.

If The Killers were added to this line up it has got to be one of the strongest lineups i have ever seen. There is so many headline acts playing at this festival. I understand that it is in Belgium and some of the acts might not be as big there as elsewhere. Regardless whether TK are added this lineup is huge.

I'd say even without The Killers I can't remember anything as strong and mega as this headline-wise.

Rock Am Ring 2010 is the only that comes to my mind with Kiss, Rage Against The Machine, Muse and Rammstein.

nope, which is a bit weird, after all it is the biggest and most famous european festival outside UK. I started some thread few years ago, but there were no answers, so never done it again. Roskilde looks pretty good this year, but having competition from Tinderbox, Copenhell & NorthSIde means glory days of 90's will never be repeated

Well, then we should give it a try again! :)

Yes, the supply of festivals here in Denmark is mega given our size.

Roskilde (130,000), Tinderbox (40,000), Northside (30,000) and Copenhell (20,000) in three weeks. Additionally Skanderborg (50,000) in the start of August and Jelling (30,000) end of May.

  13. Impressive line up so far - looking from the outside I can only be jealous. If The Killers get announced for the Sunday as well it is just insane.

Does anyone know what the budget for artist bookings is? I know Roskilde's is 60 million DKK (8 million euro) but that's covering 175 artists.
