  1. I've avoided all TV coverage and this forum till now. I'm 50 in 2019 so failure is not an option. I wanted to try volunteering this year to not miss out but couldn't convince my other half. Have told him we need to volunteer next year for at least one festival to give us the best chance of being there 2019. I'm slightly relieved it's over I hope all who we're lucky enough to attend had a blast and at least now I feel "back in the game"

  2. well I just added myself as volunteer only for coach resale as my group of 4 will be trying for us in resale. My thought was to use my own credit card on the basis that if I manage to get tickets for someone they could do an immediate bank transfer and if the money didn't come through within a few hours I could cancel the sale. Do you think that would work? I'm sure it wouldn't come to that but just in case :-)

  3. Hi All

I've added to list as a volunteer for the  coach sale. I'll be trying for my own come general sale but if the sun shines on me would jump in for others, although I still think stories of people managing to get through more than once in the same sale is an Urban Myth ;-)

That's a fair point actually, I haven't looked at a few pages of this because someone decided to draw a big bear on the Pyramid field but have we discussed the whole general sale/coach thing?

eg I am happy with either, and will try for either. But obviously if I get coach tickets (and become one of the "successful") I'd put my name forward to help out on the Sunday.

I just assumed desperation would mean everyone will go for both, but are there other unsuccessful ones who only want general sale? If so then hopefully they could be recruited to help with coach sales, and then we can help with general sale if successful.

I'm another GA only so happy to help others for the coach sale. Is there anyway to sort this within the spreadsheet? ;-)

  5. I haven't added to the spreadsheet as there's 4 of us trying for 4 tickets but don't mind helping after we have secured ours (she says with conviction). Not sure how that would work in practice though.

  6. gave my Glastonbury caravan away today. Gave it to my godson who is a single dad and really excited to be able to take his 6yr old daughter away. The only proviso was that should we be lucky enough to get tickets and a CV ticket in the resale we can borrow it. Fingers crossed the good vibes will help :-)

  7. last year i got a CV ticket in a secret resale (after foolishly falling fowl of the change to the CV sale). Any way i got a notification from the ShangriLa fb page that simply said Hmmm and had a link. Couldn't believe it took me through to a sale, can't remember if it was just for CV tickets. Having been unsuccessful in the ticket sale this year I'll be liking every area of Glastonbury fb pages just in case ;-)

  8. tried for tickets for years thought it was an impossible dream then had 2 successful years 15 & 16. Gutted not to get tickets this year, I got through to registration n my daughter got as far as entering card details but no luck. Will try in resale but not too hopeful. Managed to get a caravan ticket in a secret sale last year after following a ShangriLa fb link.

2019 will be my 50th so failure won't be an option!!

Do you mean with Oxfam, for example? I did that in 2011 and it's managed and sorted brilliantly. You have to apply in a similar way, but as long as you do so early you'll almost definitely get a place.

You also only do three shifts and can swap them if you want to as well, so it's a great way to do it. Especially as it means you can go down there on Monday or Tuesday, too!

How long are the shifts, and can you still take a caravan?

what time is everyone getting up to prepare? put the bubbly on ice, make coffee, eat toast, double check equipment etc...?

sure I'll wake up about 5 if I even manage to sleep but have set 3 alarms for 8 just in case! Good luck all :-)

  11. Hi All, I've lurked around the forum since last after my excitement of getting tickets 2 years in a row (had been trying unsuccessfully for 6) was marred by my not realising the sale of caravan slots has changed. Anyway this site kept me sane and I also managed to get a caravan slot in a secret resale. We are from Durham and have previously attended with our kids and their partners. This years there is just our daughter and we trying for tickets for 3 newbies. I feel slightly sick at the moment, have had a nightmare about waking up at 10 n wondering how many alarms to set.

Good luck for tomorrow everyone :-)

  12. I think I already know the answer but I thought worth asking my question anyway. This year we were goig to maximise our ticket day chances by buying for another couple just to ensure we had 6 of us trying come T day. However we would then require 2 caravan tickets and looking at the info these would both have to be in the lead persons name. I know checks were lax this year but I certainly don't want to take any chances so my current thoughts are that this would be a none starter, is that right?

  13. already thinking of contingency plans, not being defeatist just prepared. So if you don't manage to get tickets is it safe to wait until after resale to volunteer? And if volunteering as a couple what is the likelihood of getting similar shifts? Apologies if these are stupid questions but this was just our second year and only discovered this fab forum a couple of weeks before the event :-)

Nah, still luck i think. I got them last year on an ancient hand me down laptop.

Its so creaky I could only have one page open so maybe that helped.

That's a shame thought I'd found the sure fire way to a golden ticket ;-)  Even though getting towed on and off site and the mud was a nightmare this year we're still hooked. I wonder if volunteering is a viable option if unsuccessful in October, I really felt for some of those kids up all night stewarding on Wednesday some really seemed out of their depth, I'm sure my years of "life experience" would qualifiy me. Failing that I'm a mother and previously worked with animals so could perhaps do a few shifts cleaning toilets lol!

  15. Tried for 6 years before finally hitting lucky in 2015 and again in 2016. I'm putting 2015 down to sheer good luck but did read somewhere that it was better to use a mobile with 4G. That may have been what swung it for us this year as whilst five of us were on tablets and laptops my daughter's boyfriend who wasn't even awake for the 9.00am kick off tried at about 9:15 on his phone and got straight on to the page without having to refresh.

  16. remember that there is an alternative entrance to climbing through a muddy hole to get into the piano bar (at least that was what I think it was, daughter on a mission to find hidden areas). The rope was covered in mud and it took my son and husband pulling n pushing to get me in.

Also more research, got took to the front of the queue to the rabbit hole but needed to answer a question. In my wine fuddled state would have been better off staying in the queue n gave up :-(

buy small tarpaulins from £1 shop before I go.

on the plus I learnt a few lessons from last year, took a small cool bag n ice pack for wine and decided not to keep eating noodles just because it was the only place without a queue. Took time to go to the circus.

  17. currently sitting in E19 awaiting a tow. To make matters worse the other half has just accidently swigged gin from a water bottle he decanted it in to. Told him that was a stupid idea to start with, now looks like I'll be towing a caravan for the first time in nearly 30 years!!
