  1. I tend not to bother too much my hair is a bit curly and a bit wavy depending on what mood it is in! I've found that two french plats on the first day helps a bit but then after that just letting it do its own crazy thing!

Batiste dry shampoo is a must, its the only one I've found that actually makes a difference to my hair.

Basically - I tend to give up with my hair by the Friday and just spray it with dry shampoo and stick some flowers in it!

  2. Can't help you there! Didn't manage to get tickets last year, but I have to admit my first thought when they said 8am was that it seemed much earlier than in previous years. The last time we were there I remember leaving Manchester at 4am to get there for when the gates were opening which I feel would put it as the gates opening around 10am -  but I could be wildly wrong about that!

Any one else pick up on this statement from the BBC website?

Fans who arrive before the gates open have been warned they will "be expected to remain in their cars", as the tradition of providing early access to car parks has been suspended.

I noticed that. I assume just bad phrasing/lack of understanding on the BBC's part? The advice given in the recent email/on the official website still say car parks will be open from 9pm on Tuesday. I can only assume they may be a bit more careful of letting people wander around outside the cars or start to queue early?

We always aim to arrive at the car parks for around 6/7am, by the time the cars are unloaded and we've got to the gates they have opened and we wait with a couple of ciders!

  4. Ah I was hoping not to have to post on this thread this year - but no such luck!

After the announcement yesterday we are now more determined than ever to get tickets for 2017 but not really holding up all that much hope after the resale (if it could be called that!) last year. May look into volunteering but will depend on what holiday we can take from work!

I'm with you on excitement levels. Only 2 and a half more days at work! This will be my only festival of the year also and after doing Glasto last year I'm looking forward to the slightly more chilled out and smaller vibe.

Also at glasto last year we were in a group of about 20 of us - which sounds good in theory but in reality makes its near to impossible to do anything quickly. Only 8 of us going to bestival which i think is perfect!

Only one and a half days for me! I'm originally from the Isle of Wight so we go/leave a day or two early to avoid the crazy ferry price hikes!

There's only 3 of us at Bestival this year, but will probably find other people we know along the way! The most we've done at Glastonbury was 15 and that was pretty hard work, normally there's about 8 of us which is a good number! I think in large groups you just have to accept it'll take a while or just go off and do your own thing and meet up later!

  6. They've said on Twitter that there is the same camping space as in previous years - not sure if that includes all the boutique campsites or not!

It is looking more like Bestival of 6/7 years ago, which if intentional, might not be such a bad thing - although I'm not sure how I feel about the huge number of sponsored areas. Having said that ones in the past have been excellent, I seem to remember spending lots of time at the Sailor Jerry stage and the Matua one as well. Glad to see the Jagerhaus returning too as that was great last year.

Either way, I am getting very excited about Bestival - this is the first time in many years I've only done one festival in a year after not getting Glastonbury tickets. I don't know many people on the lineup but I think that Bestival has always had enough going on and the right atmosphere that it doesn't really matter!

I do remember reading or hearing somewhere that Rob Da Bank (or maybe Josie) said that their research suggested that way more people were interested in the glamping aspect of Bestival.

I wouldn't be surprised! With the cost of the ferries I'd imagine its almost cheaper to get some kind of glamping option and only foot passenger across, rather than bringing a car!

In other news, I dont mean to put the mockers on anything but the W word isnt looking bad for next week.

Yeah, I'm trying not to look at that too much. Don't want to scare it away...

  8. There is also a lot of boutique/glamping options so maybe lots of people have taken them up on that!

I can only assume that the number of tickets available and the space in the campsites have to follow some kind of health and safety rules, which must have been followed for the festival to take place. There also have the day tickets for the first time in a while so that could make the difference too.

Bestival are implying on social media that the app will be updated very soon (I assume today/tomorrow) so maybe that will have a bit more information on things like the WI tent and things like that!

But there's still a buzz about the festival so it'll be fine long-term, maybe a smaller gathering's it's niche?

I really hope this is why! I've been to Bestival most years and it has changed a lot since the early days (not always a bad thing!) but I guess it is possible that Rob da Bank is just trying to take it back to a smaller festival.

I have to say I'm not all that impressed with the line-up as a lot of the acts aren't really my sort of music - but that's not a bad thing really, sometime it is nice to not be rushing between stages all the time!

The small number of campsites does seem a bit strange though - we used to camp in Blue but ended up in Black last year after they got rid of it and I guess we will end up there again this year! Just have to be at the gates when they open to get a good spot!

  10. Good luck with those comps, I hope you get something!

We decided to admit defeat and have booked a few days at Alton Towers, which we've been meaning to do for a while, so that should keep us occupied and away from any highlights! I think a social media ban might be needed as well seeing as I was already a bit upset about not being at Isle of Wight this year (and I've not been to that one in about 3 years!)

I think you're right, it's just that the forms were specifically labelled "May resale", so I thought the deadline might be indicative of the point at which they weren't expecting any further resales .

Ah sorry! Missed the secret resale part of the first post - my bad!

Maybe that's another reason to doubt it? However if a disabled person got a ticket between now and when the festival starts they would have to try to accommodate them I'm sure of it.

A couple of years ago one of our friends injured her Achilles tendon about a week before the festival and was in a cast - Glastonbury were great about it! She emailed them and they immediately send out a different parking pass and gave her a slot in the disabled campsite, so I'm sure if you got a ticket now they'd be fine!

To pass the time I've just got a quick question about how supported on this quest you all are by your other halves?

My boyfriend is coming with me - he's up for the tickets but also happy to not go so is looking out for twitter announcements but not much more! (Though doesn't seem to mind me constantly refreshing pages at the moment!)

My sister is fairly similar to me, but cannot keep an eye on websites so much at work! She can only use her phone internet at work so does keep checking but is relying on me to let her know if anything major happens!

We all enter the comps too - both my sister and bf put me down, which is a good position to be in haha

doesnt look like anything is going to happen today :( I was hopeful the tip off was right

Looks like it! Although I'm going to give 4:30 and 5:00 a chance and see if there's anything then!

  15. I feel like I must look really suspicious! I always get asked to take my glasses off and they always double/triple check my photo. I don't think I look that different from the picture other than having pink hair now.

Although one year the ticket checker looked at both mine and my sisters driving licences and was very suspicious at us looking similar and having the same date of birth...maybe he'd never heard of twins...

  16. For re-entry you need your ticket and a pass that they give you on the way out, then they check both on the way out and in. They also check that your wristband is secure and tight enough - so no idea how that group managed it!

  17. Ah just as I think I may give up this sort of thing happens!

I think I'm going to hold out until Monday but after that we are thinking of booking a trip to Alton Towers that weekend to avoid coverage - so hopefully something happens before then, if not I guess I will have to accept it wasn't meant to be this year...

I'm definitely fairly jaded myself by Sunday! Might be just the weekend catching up with people?

This is true! They just always seem very clean...

Also defo the minority of people and have only ever really experienced it around the Pyramid Stage where I tend not to spend too much time at generally - so could also just be because it is that stage and I want to get to the Cider Bus quickly!

Hmmmm. There's a lot of theses Sun tix coming on sale this year. Wonder if they're downgrading many of the returned GAs to these this year?

For the sake of the people going I kind of hope not! I've found in recent years that the Sunday has less of a friendly atmosphere during the day and I wonder if it is partly down to the Sunday ticket holders!

Last year I was given many dirty looks and had comments muttered when trying to get to the Cider Bus from the Pyramid stage and many people refusing to move. There seemed to be a wall of clean people sat on fold out chairs around the edge of the stage.

Obviously not every Sunday ticket holder is like that but I did notice a difference and so did a number of the people I was with - was it just us being tired at that point or did anyone else notice this?

  20. That does sound wonderful, but definitely not something I can afford at the moment!

It's the sort of thing I'd love to do in the future but would need much more experience before even considering taking on something like that!

Two here, just pop them through my front door.

As an aside, saw a guy trying to flog his Guardian winning tickets on Twitter a few days ago, i did offer £500 for the pair ( on provision of an email confirmation or proof) but he said he had a much bigger offer.

    Yeah, sounds fairly dodgy!

When I won tickets for Bestival 5 years ago I had to provide them with both my name and the name of the second person and both of us had to collect them on site and provide ID, and I'd imagine Glastonbury/The Guardian are much stricter on this...
