Strange to drag it out for another week (or whatever the 'shortly' means) but that must surely mean a big at will follow, there's only 4-5 names to come now it makes no sense to delay otherwise!

A couple of bands I'll go to see and I'm happy to listen to people like Warpaint and Noname after the reviews on here.

Personally I still think Saturday and a Sunday have a second tier slot missing...

I agree. If all the remaining bands where the same as this, they would have released all the names together, no need to wait.

I am confident we will get a nice surprise soon.

    hi guys

after having back aches last time, i was thinking about staying in hotel this time, probably at brussels cause leuven and the area is pretty fully booked.

anyone else is staying in brussels and drives to the festival daily? me and my brother will be happy to join in, offcourse with our fair share on the costs.

if i won't be that lucky, the train from brussels to leuven is free only on the first day, right?

and the daily shuttles from leuven is free?

    thanx

Shuttles are free all days from Leuven to RW. I believe the train is only valid for two rides, not sure though.

    So that would be...

    64/85*100 = 75.29. So 75/76 acts in total.

With 11 or 12 acts left to come, could it be the last announcement next week? :D

Seems like it. I am still hoping for Biffy and Foster the People. If those two were added then the line up would be absolutely perfect for me.

I'm more than likely going on my own on the coach from Manchester and potentially meeting up with friends there (if they can make it). It's my first time going, any tips? Done NOS/BBK/Beni before as well as a few over here.

Booked into The Hive for camping. Is it a friendly festival? Slightly concerned about being there alone, has anyone else done it alone?

belgians are fine. theyre respectful people. add beer, great music and summer and they become absolute sweethearts and mega friendly. you should not be worried.
english is common currency, especially among flemish belgians, so language will not be an issue at all.

I do see a distinct lack of passion by some people on this forum. A few announcements don't particularly go their way, or bands they were expecting are not announced and all of a sudden the line up is "not as good" or in some circumstances "poor".

The line up is far from poor. A lot of the names mentioned are large scale successful international artists and in honesty, those who are not are more than worth a listen (i have not listened to them all yet but i have discovered some great new music).

With the line up and the amazing people at Werchter (i met loads of great people last time), I for one can not wait to visit again.

    Stay Happy People :D:D

Still expecting The Weeknd to be announced on Friday. :(

Expecting - not hoping, in any way.

They just played in Belgium last week. So I think there is a chance RW would be saving the announcement until they played.

So still no Rival Sons, Against Me! nor Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls at Graspop... What about these three ones as awesome openers ??

By the way, who are the three best openers you've seen at Rock Werchter ??

My votes go to : 1- Reignwolf, 2- Vintage Trouble, 3- I have difficulties to choose between St Paul & the Broken Bones, The Struts and The Temperance Movement (I loved CC Smugglers as well)

I really enjoyed the Struts (main stage), so I would have them in the list, for sure. Frightened Rabbit (the Barn), and The Van Jets (also the Barn). If we speak main stage only then Struts, Marmozets and Royal Blood (they were second, actually, but missed the actual openers).

For all we know they're coming in next friday with some strong, decent and/or bigger names. I'd give it at least one more week if I was you ;)

I think we will get some good names next week. I just wanted to have them now :(

The amount of people who still care about millennium rock bands like Linkin Park, Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World, Offspring, 3 Doors Down, Limp Bizkit, Sum 41, Pennywise, Alien Ant Farm and Good Charlotte baffles me. Really. I thought it was a typical german thing (looking at ale these RAR/Hurricane lineups).

But I've got the feeling that people only care about these acts because they grew up with them. In that case: I didn't (I kind of avoided this type of music as a kid), and it's really difficult to like this stuff for someone who 'discovers' these bands right now. Fan or not: the things these acts sing about are aimed at teens/adolescents... so it's hard to identify with it.

It's a shame that they ONLY program these '00's nostalgia acts' on the saturday main, which makes it kind of one dimensional. If you don't like this type of music, you're screwed. And as it stands now RW doesn't give a great alternative on the others stages.

Please don't shoot me down for this post, I just wanted to share this bit. ;-) Feels good.

I think there is a bit of truth to what you say but I cant completely agree. Im 31 and I am super glad with the current lineup. I use festivals to stay in touch with new music and discovery cool new things. RW has not failed me so far in terms of delivering both bands I already love and new ones for start loving. Maybe you really just haven't given the bands announced a fair chance?

There are new bands (although not new to me) that are (i think) brilliant, like Warhaus, Warhola, Tout va bien, Bazart, Future Islands, Kaleo, Nathaniel, and Frank Carter.

And there are new bands (First time I heard about them when they were announced) that I am already excited to see, like Benjamin Clementine, Witney, Cigarettes after sex, and Rag n bone man.

I really, really think the line up is rock solid. best of the year so far. Good alternatives are there, at least imho
