  1. Busy but satisfying times then, Sindig0 :):)

I wish they'd given you better drugs if you're in pain, Rendrags ............. you'll be loon dancing come the end of July - keep that thought going! :):)  Body painting is relaxing and fun; good to play around with non-permanent colours so you can experiment with designs and see how they suit. Just though with 6 weeks, a more time consuming project could be a good thing, though I suppose it would need touching up after every shower, which may get a bit messy! I didn't think that through much! Still nice to have a new design every day. May have to check out skin sensitivity etc. Did most of my doodling on H with make-up and, I admit, acryllic paints. Good fun! :):)  Jambo also sends her best wishes to you; here's her message:

"Update..went to see Green Village Bali. http://greenvillagebali.com/ amazing place..to stay there you have to have money ..one house cost around 398 $ a night and you had to stay 2 nights. Although I found them visually beautiful I wouldn't want to stay there..too like stage sets!
Then went to my favourite restaurant in Ubud..Fair Warung Bale..wonderful place run by young people and funding health and education. Second time been there and each time posted its praises on fAce Book? As I was leaving the Dr running the place got up wiht Mike to talk about the project and thanked me directly for my "kind words" I couldn't work out how he knew it was me..he said, right across the restaurant..I know who you are..floored me. Anyway spoke to him afterwards..lovely guy.
Today up early for the traditional as opposed to tourist market..wonderful male flowers, fruits, vegetable..glorious. Then lazed round pool, lunch, a  passionfruit sorbet..yum..and a drive to Sideman. Contrast to Ubud..nothing here..just mountains, valleys and greenery..wonderful birdsong. So soaking this up for 2 days, some gentle walks, swimming pool! And Bintang beer.

NOOOOOO not TWO years without SC..whatever is he thinking of??????
Best wishes to Rendrags..and commiserations CnD (on car costs)."

.crikey - is that the time?! Must dash.....    xx

  2. Ha ha! Nice ones!

I'm now thinking it looks more like a Little Owl than a Tawny Owl ........ not that that necessarily has anything to do with anything - the clue could all be in the eye....

Or we may be treated to the avian cast of Hogwarts ... not delivering howlers, I hope!

.. hmmmmmmm.... who could it be? .....  :):)

  3. Mornings all :):)

Pants news on the car repair cost, Cal N Del, but hey, congratulations on the CD's; good job, well done (and backed up) :):)

S.C., it is evidently me that has given the wrong impression; sorry;  I was anticipating your joy at buying a new bike; didn't think you already had it! Right bike for the trip is important. While I'm keen for you to fulfil the Himalayan Highway too, please can this be arranged for dates which don't include that last weekend in July? :):)

Hope your phone was a good play last night Sindig0! :):)

Rendrags, a comfortable night, I hope. Not long now to the end of February line up announcement; that'll be fab to explore between whatever exercised you've been given to do! :):)

Cold, calm and  sunny morning here; goldfinches and blackbirds feeding, wood pigeons in the tree; ground too wet to walk on; thick bluebell leaves holding the promise of much blueness later on. More research on what is where in Rome and best way of organising our time and explorations. Looking forward to a trip up North at the end of this month, taking the long way back down the east coast and stopping off in Suffolk for a Minsmere visit before continuing home. Mmmmmmmmmm cheese scones!

    Happy Thursdays everyone :):)

  4. S.C., Norway Expedition sounds fab - enjoy all the planning and everything.......... and the new bike ........... its gonna happen, isn't it! :):)  :)   If you can't get the Expedition shifted in time, then we'll just have to wave another year to you through Webby! It would be fab if Mrs S.C. could still make it to Womad - (bring the girls!)... and wave too? :):)  Hope the Mackerel easily does everything you want it to .... enjoy your new toy .................. you too, Sindig0! :):)

Rendrags, hope you are safely home again and are comfy. I would think Mrs Rendrags can come up with lots of amusements for you both over the next 6 weeks. For example, six weeks is an Ideal time for a full body felt pen tattoo; relaxing, creative and fun for both of you..... maybe....     anyway, whatever you do, please share here! I remember Del was laid flat for a long period recovering from a back injury ...perhaps he can pass on some tips to you.... :):)

  5. My brother had a Haddock Superdream years back..... :):)

    Mornings all :):)

No news from Jambo this morning............ I'll pop back if there is some later on.  :):)

Grey, rainy and cold with a stiff breeze here this morning. Hope Rendrags has had a comfortable night in hospital and is even more on the mend this morning :):)

Are you feeling better too now, Cal N Del? Do you also get to watch the sunrise over the mountains - fab for brekkie on the decking :):)

Right ; must crack on .... pops kettle on for forum cuppas :)  :)

  6. You may well be right, Nigenet !! :):)

My childhood memories are morphing - vaguely remembering catching a cod and a Moto Guzzi off the pier now....... :):)

Link doesn't work for me either. S.C. even with right click thing, no option to open in new window.... not to worry - I have earned honourary bloke status in some areas! :):)

Rendrags, so sorry to hear you are laid up in hospital - not nice, even if it is a fixy thing which will allow you to dance in the last weekend in July - hope recovery is speedy and uneventful. Had hoped we may see you and Mrs Rendrags at The Pound; there'll be something else before long which appeals all round, I'm sure :):) Are you set for Charlton Park - lots of  family and friends going too? :):)

  7. Probably best that I haven't seen "Trapped", Rendrags!! -  S.C., I can  recommend the middle of Winter (we went early January); the half light which precedes the mid morning sunrise is just wonderful and other worldly, as are the sunsets. Aurora Borealis is jawdroppingly awesome - correct use of the word here. Waterfalls, Geysers and Rift Valley on the Golden Circle tour were spectacular in the snow and ice clad landscapes too. Whale watching lovely on a glittering sea; and Into the Glacier for a ride in an ex-missile carrier up and onto a glacier before exploring a man made ice cave; extraordinary fete; a sculpture which will sink and melt with the glacier over the next 100 years. A piccie form the Laundromat Cafe would be good to add to the gallery! We walked everywhere in Reykjavik and loved the variety of architecture and sculptures both going through the city and on the harbourside - I'll say no more - go discover for yourselves! :):)  Needless to say, there is so much more to discover and enjoy in Iceland - the South Coast tour, Puffin watching, Glacier Walking, exploration of lava caves and the being lowered into a volcano in a cage (H's idea) are some of the things on the list. There is so much to choose from; Reykjavik Excursions run heaps of tours/activites etc. Everything is very easy in Iceland; very well organised; excellent communication; everything you could wish. Campervans can also be hired if you want to tour and do your own thing. Useful to know that there is no right to roam; the landscape is protected by law, so you have to keep to numbered roads and marked trails for walking. Sounds restrictive, but when you're there, you can appreciate why and don't mind complying. Check out the music scene too, and the thermal baths ... oh the list goes on!...... :):)

  8. Mornings all :):)

S.C. & Sindog0; you had me hook line and sinker!- as you'll have been able to tell! - I just wondered how we hadn't heard of S.C.'s love of fishing before, and thought that he likes to be observed ... could be a thing....listened to Brain Tingles the other day, a prog about ASMR which I'd never heard of, but may possibly account for the enjoyment of being observed.....who knows! :):)

Sorry reading from yesterday. The Terms and Conditions make no mention of eFestivals' zero tolerance policy on the use of ad blockers on devices used to access the forum, irrespective of whether personal or shared devices.

On a more cheery note, we have heard from Jambo - look what she's made!

"Well here's the piece s mornings workshop..the design is mine and so are a few of the misshapen holes..they helped. A lot. Design far too delicate for a beginner.loved the design bit..just need an army of workers!

Then another massage, relax and supper ..such a hard life!
    Love to you all."

I think that would make a lovely avatar for her :):)

A bright, cold, frosty morning here; the sun shining pink and birds song in the air. :):)

    Happy Tuesdays everyone :):)

  9. Crikey Jax - that is rather clever for first thing in the morning! :):)

    Cal N Del, H has hair........ :):)

Lovely view there, Cal N Del, snow on the mountains and everything :):)  It was the view from our bedroom which sold our house to me; just knew I wanted to wake to it every morning. :):)

Lovely walk from Bradford on Avon to Avoncliff along the muddy towpath yesterday only to find our kingfisher viewing area at the pub in Avoncliff was roped off and closed. The water was high and rushing and may have caused damage to make it unsafe, we don't know, but we had our beer and crisps when we got home. :):)

Hope it is a tad or two warmer for your next observed fishing session, S.C. :):)

    Happy Mondays everyone :):)

  10. A month with out heating - oh, Helen, that sounds awful - how are you managing - hot water bottles, thermals and buckets of steaming soup? Wednesday can't come soon enough! Frozen hobnobs - just the worst!  Sincerely, what a pants time - glad it is nearly over for you :)  :)

  11. ..  expect S.C.'s trout will be positively gleaming now! :):)

Jax, you'd have got there in the end, bless you! I just signposted short cut :):)

    News from Jambo:

"This end now .... in lovely Ubud..capital of Bali..in a gorgeous hotel in the centre. Arrived today ..made detour to see silver palace, art gallery and coffee place..tasted the famous civet cat pre-processed coffee..strange flavour! Bought some for a friend who is a coffee aficionado ..not sure what he'll make of it. Wandered around a bit, had brilliant massage and promptly booked one for tomorrow! Explore today, tomorrow, silver workshop the following one and tour to Lake Batan the day after.if .I can -  days will fly here..oh and there's a visit to the greenvillage I want to do...

Love hugs and WoMaDnEsS to you all.!"

Happy to post any messages back for here :):)

  12. Great to hear Jax.... cracking night! :):)

Sindig0, I hope there is an alternative opportunity for you shortly. Sometimes a pants job is  bearable because the people at work are fab; sometimes pants people are bearable because the work is fab ..... when both the people and the work are pants, it is time to make changes .......I  hope either the work, people or company improves or you find joy with another company.....soon! :):)

Where have you chosen for your break, or is it a secret? :)  :)

The Womad facebook page has the large pane creeping up again so I can't play Peter Gabriel's message for Womad Chile - ah just ried again and I can - hurrah! Peter will be working with Sting on their tour at the moment, I guess. :):)

  13. Mornings all :):)

Hope you and Warrior enjoyed the War of the Worlds preview, Jax :):)

nigenet, The Wildly Waving Arms - fab; and a good reason to have more than one real ale pub on site! I'm wondering where it will be, arena or campsite or arboretum..... :):)

Good day there, S.C. did you catch a fish? The thought of an all day breakfast must be a warming one when the bones get a bit chilly! We're the same here re valentine's, though we did bake a cake last year and are looking forward to a very naughty cheese fondue this year. No roses, cards or chocolates etc, though we've saved every rose petal from every rose we've given one another throughout the years.  Things change - I believe that this Valentines is now considered to be for the ladies,  there now being another for the gentlemen who are treated to a steak and a blow dry ...... is this right? :):)

Cal N Del, Rams is an Icelandic film? Looking forward to hearing about it...... did it take you back? :):)  Great to hear the transfer is progressing well; you are making back ups along the way..... of course you are! :):) Crikey - those viruses still hanging round - really sorry to hear that; you must be worn out with it. Roll on Porto! :):)

Not too sure what to do with the day; H achey from badminton; the rain is back again so ground soft and soggy, boggy and not very friendly for walking - long tranches of deep mud with the odd welly in them.....loads of watching, listening and reading to catch up on, photos to process and cards to make, so a homey day it is :):)

    Happy Weekends everyone :):)

  14. Mornings all :):)

Gosh - gone fishing, S.C. .... sat on a riverbank, still, calm, relaxed but alert..... gentle flow or ripples in the water.....bird song..... kingfisher...dippers......robins.... herons......... flask of warmth.... sounds fab! - and what we do with binoculars and cameras instead of rods.... we don't catch as many fish though! Mum took me and my brother to catch cod and mackerel off the pier when I was a kid; start by making our own rods and digging our own bait, great fun, and shrimping around the pier pylons :):)

Oooo - Cal N Del - compilations all split up - arrrgh! Hope you find a workaround either on the laptop or in your mind to cope with this! I like my Real World 25 just the way it is and wouldn't want it split.... horrors! :):) Your patience and application is to be applauded *applauds* :):)

Jax, that's good news; the light grows and shines brighter every day; won't be long before you can step into it! :):)

Sindig0, sounds like you're having a less than fun time working on the insurance company contract... long to go? :):)

Valentines - anyone doing anything romantic ..or otherwise? :):)

Happy Fridays, everyone,  bacon butty or otherwise! :):)

  15. Chas said "first announcement" - I said "full line up" in my query, PD - sure I saw that somewhere which wasn't this or the previous forum.... maybe wrong though; not long to find out, I suppose! :):)
