  1. Plenty could fill in for Beano

Graham Bonnet, Marc Storach, Jimmy Barnes, lead singers of Jackyl or Airbourne

My fear is Dave Grohl though, Foo Fighters take a break and apparently Beano's hearing problems been well known in the industry for a month so he could well be taking a break to fill in for Brian for the rest of the tour, hope not

sorry should have rephrased that only 1 member whod been active to the band for any length of time and known to the fans....I hate it when people put down brian by the way because they still carry a torch for bon scott....yes he was a great vocalist but johnsons been in the band for decades now he deserves to be classed as much a part of that band as bon and the young brothers.

Cliff Williams has been in AC/DC even longer than Beano, he is very well known to the fans, but maybe not to your typical Belieber in the street.

Sorry to say, but you're fighting a losing battle there, mate. There are some posters on this forum who are perfectly happy to judge a person based purely on one detail of their life, regardless of whether that detail was a result of their own choice or not.

Taking myself as an example, I looked round 3 secondary schools with my parents when I was young. My favourite one was a nearby state school, but my parents preferred a private school. They sent me there despite my own opinion, and I hated every minute of my 7 years there. However, based purely on that, some people would label me as 'middle class', 'posh' or 'privileged' regardless of any other details of my life, and use it as an excuse to dismiss my opinion on anything.

Apparently, snobbery is a crime, but inverse snobbery is perfectly reasonable!

I pay for both of my kids to go to private school, am I a banker? or a rich dentist? neither, i sell fish for a living, but privately educating my kids is the best thing that could happen to them

They will make invaluable contacts and connections that will help their careers

    Smaller class sizes

Plenty of sports with actual competition and winners and losers, none of this left wing 'everyone's a winner' crap

Few immigrants who can't speak English properly thus the teacher is able to give my kids attention as opposed to having to devote all the time to them

Sending my kids to private school does not make me a toff, it makes me a caring parent

it's just not happening though is it Terence, mate?

With no tickets left to sell if they were playing can't help but think if they were going to pay they would have been announced by now, but clinging onto hope they will be as this is heading for dullest headliner line up ever

The wife loves Coldplay and Adele though

  5. Emily's comments don't totally rule out AC/DC

They are very much an Australian band but the current line up were all born in Britain

Angus and Stevie in Scotland, Brian in Newcastle, Cliff in London and Chris in Wales

Far rather AC/DC than fucking Radiohed, Muse or even worse, Adele

  6. I think AC/DC is unlikely simply because their UK dates are long since sold out, you can't get an AC/DC ticket for love nor money, there is no reason for any delay in announcing them, usually acts can't be announced because they have tickets to sell, AC/DC don't in UK

Many of 'these Muslims' I consider workmates and friends......id rather live around them then any ignorant bigot such as yourself, the fact you csnt seem to tell the differnece between ordinary muslims and extremists/terrorists says a lot.....it takes a special kind of ignorance to view people in that way

I do not believe in a total ban Donald Trump style, what i believe in hence my 'control over our borders' comment is that we can bring in an Australian style points system so we can select who we want here

it is highly unlikely that the Cologne attackers for example were doctors, dentists,  pharmacists, engineers, scientists etc, but likely were unskilled unemployables, an Australian style system would weed out the types from Cologne most likely

Plus free of EU we would be free to bring in legislation that bans migrants from claiming a penny in benefits for 5 years upon arrival, we can't do that atm

  8. Immigration is a divisive subject and not something that should be swept under the carpet in the forthcoming campaigns, but I do not feel for one moment we will lose out economically by leaving

We are the strongest growing economy in the G8, one of the strongest and most powerful in the world, i very much doubt that Germany, France etc will stop trading with us, they need our business

Plus being free of the shackles of the EU and not having to contribute to it any more will leave us free to negotiate our own trade treaties with the rest of the world, UK will prosper outside of EU

  9. Will be voting for us to leave

A further 1-3m muslims are predicted to enter the EU this year, EU say 1m and Nigel Farage says 3m so the truth is probably half way between the 2.

EU can't cope with the existing tsunami of muslims and there could be millions more joining them, frightening prospect

We need to stop these muslims coming in to Britain, many of the ones in the EU are moderate and law abiding and just want a job and safety, but...

A sizeable number have been bought up in extreme forms of islam where women are considered lower than dogs, this has been seen in frightening numbers in Germany where women are frequently raped by muslims and many swimming baths and nightclubs have had to ban muslims altogether because of women being molested, do we want that in the UK? no no no

Extreme islam also brings sharia law, forced marriages, the veil, genital mutilation and other vile practices that are incompatible with our culture

Only taking control of our borders and leaving the EU can we be sure we can keep out the muslim extremists and keep our women safe

  10. No sad loss, to the festival or the industry.

Saw them live once, sticking pins in my eyes would have more appeal now, they were awful.

Been shite since Morning Glory bar one or two songs.

  11. Youve clearly never been to Arsenal - that's exactly who watch the football at the Emirates!! Although daddy possibly bought the ticket on seatwave for £250+ (or insert name of preferred ticket reseller here) Sure there are a few of the older boys done good there.  But football now, isnt the "people's game" that it used to be.  I say that as an idiot who still has a season ticket - although my club only charged me £240 for the priviledge of watching this season - but we're in the North West so thats about a months salary to us!!

I haven't been to a football match since the mid 90s so admittedly things could have changed, but when I last went there was far more working class people than any other demographic, 2 family members are season ticket holders at White Hart Lane, one drives a bus and the other works as a CSR for an insurance company so are not high earners, middle earners probably, i will ask them what the people around them are like as I can't really comment on the modern game.

  12. I agree with what you are saying, in that there will always be thieves, no matter what etc. But this thread was about ways of changing the demographic of the festival and making it more accessible to people on a low income salary.

However what I'm saying is, if you like it or not, history shows that the cheaper the ticket the more crime there is. And for that reason, I'm not against the price hikes, even tho I know that is an unpopular view.

I am not a thief, but if I was and managed to steal some money, couple of iPhones, an iPad or 2 then I would consider a £225 a good investment, down the pub or on eBay i would have made a 500% profit on the price of my Glasto ticket selling those Apple devices, so the idea that a thief is going to be put off Glasto by a ticket price is complete and utter bollocks

  13.

The individuals will change, but they will be from the same pool of people. The high ticket price guarantees it.

A lower price (or a way to reduce the impact of the high price) will see the festival open up to a much wider range of people. Now it's just open to the well off.

When it's £300 a ticket the pool of potential attendees will shrink further. And so on and so on until there's just tarquin, pandora and cordelia left.

Not convinced by the last part if am totally honest.

Look at football, working class sport attended by predominantly working class people, a season ticket for a premiership team can cost the equivalent of 4 Glasto's yet the working class have not been priced out of football, I could not imagine Tarquin and Pandora going to the Emirates to see Arsenal 20 times a year, so working class football fans manage to save fine for their season tickets without the need for instalments.

A Glasto ticket is a fraction of the cost.

  14.

it is broke though, as the increasing lack of diversity at the festival is showing.

I am at a disadvantage here as this is my first Glasto, but surely at least half of people who go to a Glasto have never been before, or maybe been once etc, the audience will change every year, so this years crowd may be more diverse than last years, I will certainly be keeping an eye on my fellow festival goers now.

  15. think that at the arena in Newcastle.

Sunderland have had a number of sell out concerts at the stadium of light.

That is even more shocking, right in Brian's home town, thought they would be out in force to see a local guy done good.

  16. why wouldnt they get their money back if glastonbury had an installment plan? how do you come to that conclusion? glastonbury is not download.

How can having extra options be a bad thing?

If it ain't broke don't fix it imo.

If someone is so lacking in willpower that they dip into the Glasto pot then I question did they really want to go enough in the first place?

The Eavii are there to run a festival not nanny people who can't manage their finances properly.
