Seen people standing in the queue for hours just to charge a phone.. Surely there's better things to do with the time.. Also you can't really really need a phone all the time at a festival..

Also if you go to the got it all store near the beat hotel.. Or for people that need to be precise.. Near the beat hotel walking towards the JP stage. I believe they charge your phone for a few pounds.. AND you don't have to wait you can leave it and go back later..... I know this cos my brother can't live without his phone and this is what he did last year.

    thank you

  3. I am hoping to get to wicket ground on Wednesday afternoon. .looking at the map ..ideally yellow car park and pedestrian gate A is the way to go...now am I right in thinking I can't choose the car park gate I enter but if I hit the site from the west then am guaranteed to be in a west car park.?

Also once I am parked up in whatever car park am I free to head to any pedestrian gate I choose or will I be told what gate I must use.

Getting there is generally not too bad. It's the getting back that's usually a nightmare! After doing the train back to London on the Monday the first year I went I vowed never to do it again! Have done the coach ever since

Luckily I have the car...so it's an easy jaunt on Monday to Manchester airport for a trip to salou ☺☺

  6. thanks guys...we wont be getting the coach or train back as i would have the car with me since the wednesday.....

i have never been to glasto before....so i would be able to leave the site on friday morning and ghet the coach to the train station to meet the wife and son....any info is appreciated glasto-worker:D

  7. I am travelling down south my daughter from Scotland by car on Wednesday to get a decent pitch in wickett field. My wife and son are heading down on the sleeper on Thursday night...arriving in Euston around 0700 on Friday morning.. Her plan is to get to the festival by train.. Has any one done this  and if so do you have any tips that would make life easier... Thanks

  8. Thanks for the replies people ... So West side of festival , gate A, wickett camp site...That's that settled..

..now has anyone got any specific tips regarding the wickett field.... Is there preferable areas to set up or is it all much same... Am travelling with 2 kids (15 and 11)... And to be honest except for a few camping weekends at TITP back in the day....av no idea what to expect

  9. hi all..this will be my first glasto..i have lots of questions so gonna start at the start..travelling and camping.....gonna be going with the family.. leaving glasgow early on  wednesday morning.. am heading down from scotland via yorkshire (the dog sitter is in yorkshire)...and will be hoping to get into the wickett camp site late wednesday afternoon....any tips or general info on this plan would be appreciated.. the first thing i am hoping to get right is to get to the west side carparks and gates to be in the general area of the wicket campsite.....looking foward to hearing from you...

  10. Thank you all for the excellent replies

@incident....even though its 9 months away i am VERY excited....and av got a feeling the more i get stuff organised and researched now, the less hassle ill have on the day.....not only is it my first glasto its the families first time camping!!!!!....(not counting drunken weekends at TITP in a £15 tent)....i think it will be wicket..i dont want madness around my tent @0400..but dont want to be asked not to chat at 00.00....thanks for the directions..av read some horror stories of walking the length of the site from the car to the preferred campsite...so ill be aiming for gate A from the get-go

@grumpyhack......ill take your advise on board...my usual plan is to plan the full day out to catch as many bands as i can...but obviously that was at TITP where the 3 main stages are all within 15min walk from each other

@yoghurtonastick....thats a great article...and ill be giving that plenty of attention

@penrhos.....i was thinking about the wellie situation...dont fancy doing the walking thats been mentioned in wellies....they have been fine for hanging about the main stage at T....but i think we will be going for hiking boots and gators......i was at TITP this year..just the sunday...i thought it was really bad..i enjoyed the music at the main stage Noel G, Stereophonics, Alabama Shakes, Paloma faith...but the atmosphere was not good...Too cramped ....trying to get to the bar between bands was shocking...so much crushing...it felt like it for the full day it was on the edge of boiling over into a riot...also after noel finished @2300 we waited to picked up for 5 hrs...our minibus was 3 miles away and it took him that long...never again...i got the feeling that it was all about the profit....sad way for geoff to treat his customers..

@glasto-worker....thanks for the pics..gives me a wee bit of perspective...the walking times dont seem too bad ..between 30 mins and 1hr to get to the main stage??...am sure we can handle that...as for the secruity being from glasgow...maybe ill get some nice preferential treatment..as long as his first question isnt "what team do you support" :haha:

  11. hey everybody...i managed to get tix for my first glasto for me my wife and 2 kids...we cannot wait..it will feel surreal being there and not sitting on the couch watching bbc3 ...

i have spent the last couple of days browsing this forum and was hoping for some advise from any experienced party goers

me and the wife are TITP oldies having been to almost 20. although we havent camped out for a good 10 years (things getting a bit unsafe and aggro in the campsite and by all accounts getting worse)...so we have finally made the effort and done what we have always promised we would do.......

    so

firstly i will be arriving mid afternoon wednesday. having done some research it would seem the cockmill meadow will be full so i will probably head straight for wicket....my kids will be 15 and 11...is the family camping maybe toooo quiet for my lot...would they appreciate somewhere with a bit more atmosphere..

secondly....i have no comprehension of the size of glasto..is it as hard work as av heard about...what sort of walking time from wicket to the main stages (please bear in mind you could walk around TITP in an hour)

thirdly....on google maps it seems to be directing me from glasgow to worthy farm via bristol....does this route seem best to get into the carparks near wicket....

anyway av dragged on abit already and av still got 3000 questions..so ill leave it at that for now....

any help would be greatly appreciated
