There's a few great acts there but they're all of way too similar a vein. It just seems like they've booked any act that have released a debut album that's had mild attention within the usual P4K-esque circles.
Very solid, if that's your thing though. Bar Foals.
The National are definitely big enough, they've become extremely big over the past 12 months.
They have? They've got acclaim, but as far as being commercially big enough to headline a festival that is charging £177 a ticket? Not so much. The main thing that winds me up about them however is that they have played Latitude twice before, and last year headlined the Word Arena. Since then, they haven't released any new material, so essentially they will probably be playing near enough the same headline set they played last year, just on a different stage. It's a worrying lack of imagination/ambition on Festival Republic's part.

If this is true, as somebody else put it, I feel really uninspired. Of the four supposed headliners, only one really warrants it, the other three could quite easily slot in two, three, or even four down. It would be extremely strange considering there are plenty of headline sized acts about that could feasibly have played; Elbow, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Flaming Lips etc. The National would be strange considering they headlined the 2nd stage last year- has it ever been known for a festival to bump a second stage headliner to a main stage on in the space of a year? It also seems only one person actually saw this 'announcement' on the Absolute site, so could this be an elaborate hoax? But if so, why bother removing it from the forum? I for one, am fairly worried...perhaps that's a good chunk of the lineup, but in fact the ones supposedly 'headlining' are not, or am I clutching at straws here?

According to his website, Jonsi is playing, I would assume headlining?
Look again. Listed under 'previous concerts.' He played last year.

PJ Harvey has just announced a festival show in France on the Friday of Latitude. Could there be a reason this announcement has been held back to today..?

Tickets on sale and first lineup announcements 7PM on the 14th of March - two weeks today - according to the Official Latitude Facebook. Woop!

Grinderman
in Chat
The songs are very similar but I very much doubt The Nick will have even heard of that band, let along copied them. The song is very simple, A, E and B chords, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to add 'oohs' in harmony with the chords. It's probably a very big coincidence.
The new Grinderman album is the bollocks, I especially love 'Mickey Mouse and the Goodbye Men'. They'd go down a treat at Glasto, perhaps fairly late on the Park stage, saw The Bad Seeds in open at Latitude 2009 and it was breath-taking, so Nick Cave definitely can work in open air, perhaps not so well when it's light. Bring 'em on I say!

I'd say Kings of Leon. I wasn't there so I can't judge whether they pulled it off, but it has clearly had a detrimental effect on them. I remember reading that they said being given that slot made them feel they needed to write more anthems; the result? One of the worst albums of the last 10 years (from a good band) and a complete selling out. Had they not been thrust into the headline slot perhaps they wouldn't have approached Only by the Night the way they did. Who knows, however for me Glasto was the beginning of their fall from grace.

Yup, but mine went up this morning. Got a 2:1, so I'm relatively pleased! Bring on Glasto!!!

1) Sensual Seduction- Snoop Dogg, for shits and giggs
2) Exogenesis Symphony Parts I-III- Muse..they keep talking it up saying they're getting an orchestra in and such, but they always say they're going to do things and bottle out last minute, can't imagine this will be any different...

Sir Paul McCartney is free...(I think)
Failing that, Radiohead or Bowie!

He was replying to a tweet she sent him, something to do with something called 'Annie in Wonderland'...

That Adam really is as much use as condom machine in the Vatican! Runs a camping supply site but can't put up a tent?! Give me strength! Laughed so much when he went on about his 'life savings' too...you're 16, you haven't had a bloody life to save!! Sir Alan right royally pwned him!
Loved the idea though, have already ordered one, who's joining me for a game of snakes n ladders in the middle of the Pyramid Stage?!

If Heskey scores I'll buy everyone at the festival a pint!! (or maybe if he gets a hat-trick...it can't bounce in off his arse three times surely...)

I love Emily Eavis! This means I can watch the footie AND Laura Marling (assuming England win their group of course!) This is beautiful stuff. Hopefully they'll finish it over 90 minutes, then I can hop straight over to Muse and have myself a perfect evening! This has made my day!!

Saw them at Norwich UEA, they were f**king brilliant. However, I'll be seeing Laura Marling or watching the England match when they are on, unfortunately, otherwise I'd have been 100% there

Adidas Shell Suit. Different colour each day.

"No the opening acts are opening acts! (not headliners)"
"No.. the band i was talking about being a headliner that wanted to open is now playing later on in the day. "
"The openers are good pyramid openers though!"
All tweets from Emily, so I think people may have their hopes up a bit high with some of the names flying around now. No idea what to expect though...
