  1. Its great that people have good memories of glasto when more people were meeting round fires or whatever but personally I enjoy meeting people just wandering around, outside and inside the different venues etc. I think saying dont put music on wednesday/thursday nights and encourage campfires seems a bit like telling people how to enjoy their festival. Has it not just evolved and some people who go wanna go to dance venues etc each night? i can appreciate the idea that it can be nicer chilling round a fire though rather than loud music and people gurning about

  2. wow thought arcadia was so good this year! as said, getting inside the ring was essential for quality sound. I appreciate not everybody can get in, but I aimed for inside the ring friday and saturday, getting there for approx 20 mins of the countdown and sailed in, no pushing/shoving. it seemed pretty spaced out too. loved the DJs those two nights but would be great to extend it til 4/5 or whatever. hopefully they will make it bigger too so more can enjoy the big names. saturday there was deffo one of my highlights!

  3. I had a read on the website when I booked my coach tickets and it seems to suggest normal luggage rules are two medium suitcases/rucksacks and one piece of hand luggage. It goes on to say on events services anything extra to that allowance is allowed subject to space being available and they wont charge you anything.

So if you can get down to two bags should be ok and maybe can put extra in too!

  4. Right this has nothing to do with the Traffic, as i wouldn't no sorry :(

but last year i was going on the M1, merged onto A1(M), and got off at a junction... it was A64 towards York or A64 towards Leeds, i stupidly went towards York, having to take a few de-tours finally found my way back, but i'm guessing i have to go towards the A64 Leeds? (this is for the car park) or is it the junction after?

  5. Haha just realised I didn't attempt to put a time on this. In previous years on the Thursday morning it has taken me anywhere between about 20 minutes (this was when you could be cheeky and pull a U turn on the A64 in a pub car park and skip the line of traffic) and an hour and a half (this was via the A1 J45 exit) to get into the car parks. Some friends queued for around 4 hours but this was back when it was A64 only.

Hope this helps in some small way, sorry its vague but thats kinda the nature of it.

  6. Oh dear, I subjected my parents to this ordeal back in 2005 when I was collecting my results :D

To be honest, the traffic changes year on year, so it might not be too awful. On the Thursday you can now access the car parks and pick up points both from the A64 and off J45 of the A1. I'm not sure if you get a choice on this or if they adjust due to traffic flow.

My advice would be to head up early, as it will be the peak time for arrivals pretty much. Get them to be ready at the pick up point, which I believe is near Red Gate 1. This may be quite busy also around that time.

Basically if you don't mind being up early, I'd go early as possible if they're fussed about being at school on time.

  7. Alright! Yeah you can leave, a lot of people get the shuttle bus down to tesco at seacroft to get booze during the festival. May be useful to either do this during the festival or before you first arrive.

Campsite has a number of zones, the general rule is those closer to the arena (e.g. yellow) are louder and busier and those furthest (e.g. brown) are quieter. Brown and green especially allow sleep to be had easier. This isn't a hard and fast rule though and you get differing atmospheres depending on who your immediate neighbours are. Check out the map on the official website once its up to get an idea of distance to the arena as well as brown can be a half hour walk sometimes if busy.

As for green, no experience buying it in there, wouldn't personally recommend it.

  8. Goes with a number of things that occur at reading and leeds, and shows the lack of respect some people seem to develop for other people once they set foot through the gates. Is it balls 'part of the experience', its just another example (along with gas canister chucking etc) of the idiotic behaviour that goes on sometimes and can put a dampener on things unless you just ignore it and carry on steering clear of the bell ends.

It's still pretty minging pissing in the middle of the crowd and putting it on the ground, though i guess not that bad. I'd feel like a twat personally.

  9. I spose I wouldn't mind. It kinda annoys me when people think that it's 'their only good song', when really, it's probably one of the ones that really wouldn't go down in my top ten of theirs. I'd like to see them play it, but I cannot stand Original Prankster, and that's coming from a huge fan, so it would be good if they played something else instead of that haha :P. I can't complain though, as this will be my first time seeing them after being a fan for a while.

  10. This is what I have been wondering since it was announced to play in my town. As a huge, huge fan of Gaslight Anthem, and a fan of Alkaline Trio and Chuck Ragan, I am wondering if they will be playing their own songs. I also have a feeling they will be playing together, looking at pictures of the last couple of revival tours. It's a folk appreciation thing, theirs a guy playing the fiddle aswell, they might do covers of classics or may play eachovers songs.

  11. has anyone ever dealt with these before?,had any bad experiences with them? 2 day tickets come to £106 with all the fee's down from £180 if i buy with seetickets, but im just wary that they come from some guy sat in his bedroom, what if they dont turn up, will the refund me so i can buy from see (assuming the are day tickets left a few weeks before the fest)

  12. It's Viagog remember, you've still got to include all the extra charges of VAT (not sure why they charge both the seller & buyer VAT), postage (they charge £10 when special delivery costs £5.05 at the post office), ticket guarantee & booking fee etc it 's an extra £40.

Still isn't cheap enough for me to get a weekend tix but I'm gonna wait till I see a cheaper day tix for The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
