  1. Just now, upshitcreek said:

    When the holy sh1t 4uk of a storm hit in 2014 I remember, I think it was rudimental or someone like that were shut down due to all the power going. We got drenched to the bone! my friend and I were dress as the blues brothers at the time (all be it pretty poorly) we all dived in the beat hotel and had an impromptu dance off with around 40 of us properly going for it. One of my best Glastonbury moments.

    THE RAIN SHALL NOT DAMPEN OUR SPIRITS.

    Haha, same. Beat Hotel that day was a joy to behold. Really lovely, hot and sweaty while the rain was biblical outside. Greg Wilson playing Chemical Bros tracks and everyone stuffing mdma into their faces to warm themselves up.

    If I have to do that again all week, so be it.

  2. last year I stayed off work until Friday, and on my return work took me to some client cricket day out thing which was basically just drinking all day. I was a sloppy individual that day, let me tell you.

    stag do in the same week as glasto is going to be a real test of your conkers. good speed.

  3. there's a place by the other stage that does a katsu chicken curry and I might just eat that all week. it's sloppy enough to go down that hatch without a fight, has plenty of protein in and tastes phenomenal. one of them a day will probably keep me alive.

  4. Seen one in Go Outdoors on Sunday and they are remarkably sturdy really. very impressive stuff.

    pretty decent deal (price wise) from what I remember too. have a look on their site.

  5. always a queue of people in these threads saying how smartphones are a plague on Glastonbury. I don't think so really. I remember going without one (it was great) and I remember going with one (also great).

    it's not like people sit there with their backs turned to the chemical brothers because they're poking someone on facebook. smartphones are just handy at festivals for those who want them. they have torches, they have whatsapp (handy to see if someone has received your message- always used to stand there for ages waiting for people in days gone by and they've never even received my sms), they have twitter which can fill you in on secret gigs, you can take high quality photos and videos if you're that way inclined (I got engaged at glasto and the photos and videos of it are tremendous), so yeah- whatever floats your boat.

  6. Most anticipated moment definitely isn't musically based for me. Very cliché but the best part is when everyone's in, everyone's set up and it's nothing but non-stop fun for five days from that point. Up there with the best feelings in the world.

  7. Apologies if there's a separate thread somewhere for this- but has there been any development on the Wednesday night pyramid flashmob sing along thing that was discussed back when old Dave popped his clogs? Really want that to happen.

  8. This is a honest review for any first time festival goers.

    So me plus a group of 11 went to V festival, Weston Park 2014. We arrived and parked in the north east car park at the time it was the only one open. We arrived at 5.30am after staying in a Travelodge hotel in Wolverhampton Central only £30 a room per night. We were in a cue till 6.30am and then camped. We originally picked to go in green campsite closer to the arena but were not allowed in there till 10am so ended up pitching in blue campsite (5 minute walk to the arena) and still party styled campsite but also decent if you want sleep.

    Blue campsite was the nearest campsite to the north east car park. Only had 3 vans serving breakfast and normal burgers, chips ect. Toilets were cleaned every day but showers werent the best and wouldnt trust so just take loads of baby wipes and water.

    Food;

    - £6-£8 per meal, variety of things to get. Id suggest people to get noodles, all day breakfast and fish and chips was lovely.

    - We didnt bring a stove or a bbq as it was our first time and we would suggest taking that with you its an absolute bonus.

    Alcohol;

    - NOT worth £4.80 per pint, a reasonable price would be £3.50

    - People just sneaked alcohol in through pouches.

    Music;

    - Acts were all on at different times so you get to see everyone you want to which was really good

    - Bad thing on the Saturday morning at start music too loud so could hear the artists sing.

    - Likes of Justin Timberlake, Sam Smith, Fuse ODG, Tinie Tempah were amazing. They possibly need to liven up the Saturday night acts as didnt suit everyone. But the variety was good.

    The staff that were working at the V festival were lovely and the stewards patrolling were very kind and lovely. The programme sellers do not get paid enough commission. £10 per programme is ridiculous. Needs to be lower

    I loved my first festival experience and wouldnt go anywhere else but to v fest and blue camping. Stay over the night before get there early and get on it. We thought there would be massive cues and there wasnt but I wouldnt risk it.

    I hope this helps. Any questions, just ask.

    I used to say all this about Leeds and V. This bodes very well for you. If you think V is brilliant (and without  meaning to be a knobhead- it's not- it's absolute muck), wait till you experience other festivals like Glasto and Bestival. You are in for a treat.

  9. anyone try that katsu chicken curry place to the right of the other stage? I have been yearning for it ever since. phenomenal festival food. sloppy carby protein. one of them per day and I was then free to ingest whatever raucous chemicals I wished.

  10. just bought tickets for this. really excited. wish there was more discussion, pics, videos and so on in here so I could read it all and work myself into a frenzy about how great it's all going to be.

    anyone got any tips for the line up? that's the one thing about the festival i'm not particularly enthused with. DJ's in particular i'd like recommendations for. Not into anything too 'dancey'. for instance Greg Wilson is playing- very excited to see him. more along those lines would be great.

  11. I doubt it's changed much. People who say it's lost it's magic or don't like the 'new' crowd or whatever- it's just because A. You've been a few times so nothing is as new and exciting as it was, and B. You're older, and there are now younger people playing the role of 'you' from five years ago.

    I feel a bit similar about Glasto. It's lost it's magic a bit for me. Shangri La etc I found a bit crap this year. when I got home I realised that it's me rather than Glasto.
