At some point between now and the end of the year 🙃...
If it helps, last year the full lineup was announced on 15/12. I would expect it in December this year also.
😐
Thanks for that. Have a ticket so really waiting to see the whole lineup before organising travel.
-
Any idea when the lineup announcement will be?
-
Had both Sleep Token and Dinosaur Pile-Up on my list of bands to catch so thats a shame but just had a listen to Pinpilinpussies and Jardin De La Croix. Both sound right up my street and will catch them if I get the chance.

My apologies, I got caught up in a dispute with someone who is not a fan of logic and shouldn’t have done. I’ll exit stage left. Enjoy the fest.
I'm just a fan of complainers. Get hyped! Have fun!
Edit: Honestly though I hope you do have a good time. I've missed festivals these last few years so glad to see them back in general. There is loads I could complain about from some of the clashes, act placements or days but sure better off enjoying what we all can.

Last time the last acts of the night ran until 4.30 and were (appropriately) dance acts including Charlotte De Witte, Helena Hauff and Chemical Brothers.
I expected Nina Kraviz to be the last act on friday and be an excellent end to the evening.
Well sure you can have have a great end to your evening watching her or stay until 3am and watch Paula Temple if you are looking for a dance act finale. Thats the beauty of the festival, you can decide when you want to finish your night instead of complaining that "its not the same as last time." I'm sure there has to be a club going on to the early hours in Madrid for you to get your appropriate dance fix.

There is a big difference between finishing at 3 and (as had been case with some nights last time) 4.30.
I’m glad it suits you but it doesn’t suit me and is not consistent with what I was expecting.
This is Spain. 3am is a joke.
Bilbao BBK and Primavera finish around 6 or 7am.
Previous incarnations didn't go on to that time so no point in bringing those festivals up.
It's a shame that nothing seems to suit you about the festival and I suggested before that you just give it a miss. I'm sure someone would take your ticket if you needed to sell it on and then you could just spend a few nights in Madrid. Or even better yet, why not plan to do something after you are finished at the festival.
Out of interest, were you planning to stay until the final act? Who was it you wanted to see at the end? -

In fairness to xxialac, some people are probably more likely to see the 'last' act of the night if it's earlier either due to the fact that the metro stops at 3:30 (some people would probably rather not miss that before and would've sacrificed missed the last act if they wanted to see them but at the same time wasn't too bothered by them) or because of the fact not everybody can stay up until 5am every night... you're definitely more likely to catch those bands you wouldn't have normally seen if they are on earlier. I think this schedule favours those people, but not nocturnal people like me who would have rather seen more acts throughout the night.
In fact one of the reasons I wanted to go to this festival was because it lasted much longer but everybody is different which is why there will be more early birds and night owls leaving at the same time now. However, it is what it is and they aren't going to extend the times now so let's just make the most of it!
I can agree with that. The reason I think i'm happy with the times is that it suits me and my wife. The thought of staying to 4am to watch Alt-J wouldn't have been idle but its easier to convince to stay until 3 or even leave just before the end to try and beat the rush.
Each to their own at festivals and now that the times are out, you are right there is no changing them so no real reason to compalin. Just pick who you want to see and go with it. I'd honestly say there isn't much difference between 3am and 4am when you have festivals like Benicàssim that go on to 6am/7am. Now that is one for the Night Owls. -

Most people are young and dont want to go home early so few will leave before the headliner that finishes at 2.
So bottleneck 1 is at 2am
Then bottleneck 2 is at 3am after the next act.
Then normally bottleneck 3 at 430am
If you end at 3am instead you have bottleneck 2 and 3 combining into a superbottleneck.
Again from my previous experience at festivals it doesn't matter on the age. If people want to stay and watch an act then they will leave. If they don't then they leave.
For those older ones as you put it who may leave at 1am after their main headliner then thats them away home.
Most people who are young, well they can decide when to go home. If they weren't planning on staying to 3am then they go home before that. Even if it was open to 4am, those ones that want to stay until the death will do that and those that want to leave before will do that, especially if they have worked out beforehand the best way to get back to their hotel/apartment. It's a pretty simple concept. -
I for one hope that the people at the festival are more joyful than the negativity on the forum.

Of course it makes a difference!
If you finish at 4.30, you have some leaving at 2ish, some at 3 and some at 4.30.
If you finish at 3 there’s all the people who would have left then PLUS all the people who would have stayed on for one more act.
Well why this time won't you have people leaving at 1ish, some at 2 then some at 3?
Its not like a nightclub. People will leave when the act they wanted to see is finished. If the act that the majority wanted to see didn't finish until 3.00am then thats when they all leave. If you don't want to watch that act then you leave before the rush. -

The other issue with shortchanging us with the early finish is that 3am is now likely to be a disaster for getting back to central Madrid with a very high concentration of people leaving then.
Not been to Mad Cool before but I don't see how there still won't be the same issue at 4am. Was at NOS in 2016 and there is a big majority that stays until the end which I'd assume is the same for Mad Cool if you wanted to watch that last band.
If it's 3am or 4am it makes no difference if people are watching the last act. For those that don't, they leave about 2am.

I think I'll just try and get tickets for Parcels when they're in Manchester now. Hadn't really listened to them prior to them getting announced but they have since become one of the bands I was really wanting to catch. Muse I'm more unlikely to catch on tour and the tickets will be more expensive and I think my friends will want to see them so that's the only sacrifice I'll be making at the festival. Think I'm definitely opting for Editors over FATM though despite how controversial it might be in the group as I've seen FATM before and really wanted to catch Editors this time around.
Yeah we are doing Editors instead of FATM aswell. I've seen both before but prefer Editors songs.
-
Happy with that. Going Friday and Saturday so will get seeing 5 or 6 bands I wanted to see.
Worst clash for me is Parcels vs Muse but will probably split my time between both as my wife is not a fan of muse at all.
3am finish also suits perfectly.

For anyone that has been before, what would be the walking distance/time between Stage 1 and Stage 3?

Fair enough, though I can’t as hotel and travel pre-paid and in any case they are saying I can’t have a refund as the window is already closed (they didn’t previously specify a closing date).
Anyway I hope everyone enjoys it.
That's fair. I was always worried that the festival would get cancelled if Covid was still impacting but thought sure a few days in Madrid wouldn't be a bad compromise. Hope you enjoy what you can.

Not worried, just pointing out that what a shoddy experience it had been with them this year.
I bought a ticket to the Friday, yet don't have my wristband, don't have the timetable (in previous years they had issued them by now) and don't have the headliners I thought I was getting nor adequate replacements. Their social media/comms are beyond poor and they are dishonest.
Wristbands are currently being sent out and sure if they don't arrive you can pick them up. I'm flying from Ireland and mine only just arrived but thought worst case scenario you just grab them there.
If you only have a ticket for the Friday and you wanted specific headliners why not take the refund? The option is there and it would save you having to complain or constantly be annoyed. No point in going to something that you are clearly disgruntled towards.

There’s now an incubus ‘secret’ show on the day before the festival and (a bit of a cheek) they want 30 Euros for it.
Less than two weeks to go and still no timetables…
You can be really negative. Have you ever been to Download? You get the timetable on the Monday before the festival starts. Always cool to see other festivals give theirs out before that but there is no need to worry.

Very Happy with Biffy. What are the chances of Frank Turner playing somewhere on the line up? He is in Scotland for T in the Park on the Sunday.
-
Tickets, flight and hostel booked. Really can't wait for this. Is there ever a big batch of bands announced or is it all usually drip fed over a few months.
-
This line up is everything I could have wanted so going to venture over this year. Flying over from Ireland. Still don't know if I should camp or get accommodation. I always camp at festivals. Most places I have looked at are pretty cheap. Just wondering what people thought: Camping or not?
-
There is a small camping shop at the hive, you might be able to buy some stuff from there.
Thanks for that.
Was wondering how fast the Hive fills up? Our friend was able to get a late ticket on resale however he won't be flying out until the Thursday morning. Would we be able to keep him a spot or will it fill up?
-
Is there places to buy camping chairs on site? Travelling from Ireland so no room to bring any with us.

Well depending on overlaps/walking between stages/Food and Drink, then my days are hopefully looking like this:
Thursday - Marmozets - Years & Years - First Aid Kit - Rise Against - Florence + the Machine - Hot Chip - Foo Fighters - Elbow - Chemical Brothers
Friday - The Last Internationale - Death Cab for Cutie - Damien Marley - John Newman - Of Monsters and Men - Ben Howard - Alt J - Mumford and Sons - Pharrell Williams
Saturday - Fidlar - Royal Blood - Hozier - The War on Drugs - Noel Gallagher - Lenny Kravitz - Damien Rice - The Prodigy
Sunday - Red Fang - Enter Shikar - Catfish and the Bottlemen - The Vaccines - Counting Crows - The Script - Kasabian - Muse
-
Biggest Clashes for me are:
Eagles of Death Metal/First Aid Kit
Rise Against/James Bay
Mumford/FKA Twigs
War on Drugs/Ryan Adams
Then I also have a few overlaps. The Main 2 are leaving Ben Howard Early to head to see Alt-J then the other is only watching about 40 minutes of Lenny then heading over to see Damien Rice.
Quick question. How far are the stages apart? Is getting between them during acts easy enough?

Line up is packed every year. Already accepted Metallica over two night which I'd prefer not to happen since I already seen it at Download this year but with who else is touring next year, I'm still optimistic on it being a great 4 days.
