George Michael?
Ok
I suggest you watch this http://youtu.be/UvM2Cmi-YRU
It was out of this bloody world, its amazing on video, but even better being there like i was
-
I don't like your political views, that's for sure. I'll stand by your right to hold those views even though I don't agree. It was your choice of the word "spastic" which I found abhorrent. No excuse whatsoever.
It is about context
In casual banter with friends i call them 'you spaz' or 'you mong' or whatever on occasions, it is just a throwaway thing and certainly not a disability hate crime or any dislike of disabled people, i have disabled relatives, i am not anti disabled, likewise those friends call me 'you dumb nigga', i crossed the line today but it was a throwaway remark went wrong not hatred of disabled people
-
No you didn't.
That video of them sent my respect of the band flying, until I heard 30 seconds of their version of Under Pressure...
I said i regretted it or something, for the record, for avoidance of doubt, i do
-
Nah. fuck you. It's disgustingly offensive you deserve more than a slap on the wrist. Ban this Tory prick neil once and for all.
Oh and maybe I just speak for myself here, but glastonbury? It's not for you, you tosser.
Very revealing post tbh, it is the fact that i am a tory that riles you above anything else, if i was a leftie or green i would not get half the stick as i do on here, get over it, there are 11m tories in this country
I used to get piss taking about my comments about Brian Johnson not doing 2 nights in a row but soon as i admitted to being a tory it was the equivalent to many on here of going into a mosque and eating a bacon sandwich, banter and pisstaking turned into hate and revulsion soon as i mentioned i was a tory
This is not the official labour party forum, it is a music forum so you and others need to grow up and accept that not everyone is a marxist, the election result proved that spectacularly
-
Aw bless. Not getting enough attention are we? Consider yourself reported
i think it could be considered attention seeking to bring up a subject that blew over about 6 pages ago, why was it really necessary to bring this up again?
I apologised, i will probably get a warning from Neil, fair enough, but move on eh?
-
Bon, you are without doubt the single most baffling Glasto goer I have ever met either in person or in a virtual sense.
A question, if you don't mind:
When was the last time a piece of music / artist / art (in any form I 'spose) utterly sent you into a spin and totally blew your mind?
And what / who was it?
And in what way did it have an affect on you?
By all means tell me to fuck right off, obviously.
In what context do you mean? live or recorded?
Live it would have to be Lady Gaga singing 'Swine' at the Roundhouse for iTunes festival, i talked about nothing else for days after
If you mean live in terms of sending a shiver down my spine it would be George Michael singing Somebody To Love
If you mean recorded then stuff like Rainbow - Stargazer, Bob Marley - No Woman No Cry (lyceum version), Eva Cassidy - What A Wonderful World (live at Blues Alley)

He is a pretty limited vocalist actually. Outside the theatrical screams his voice has a decidedly average timbre. Would he have filled in from behind the drum kit? And you've missed the point of Freddie completely. No showman, no show.
You made the same mistake with Foo Fighters too. But given your comments about tree huggers and many others I suspect a dull, lifeless energy free set would suit you well. I'd like to hope Glastonbury will open your mind a little.
Edit: I've just seen you used the word spastic as an insult. That's below even your low standards. See ya...
The 'spastics' comment was uncalled for, i was annoyed at what i thought at the time was racial abuse, as i thought i had mentioned before on here i am mixed race
Plenty of drummers have been able to do lead vocals, Don Henley, Phil Collins etc
Of course a Queen concert without Freddie would have been a complete shadow of its true self but people go to a gig for the music by and large not the lead singer so am sure Roger/Brian stepping up in that situation would have worked, although neither could have put on a show like Freddie
-
Yay, disablism!
Yet its ok for someone to racially abuse me by referring to me as an ape? i am mixed race so such posts are disgusting
-
Grand so, means I don't have to listen to this shit at Glasto then. As you were.
I might wear my Tory 2015 election campaign t shirt if i turn up
That would certainly ruin the glasto of the dribbling leftie spastics on here who hate me
-
He's an ape. Ignore.
Racist
-
thought your ticket was going back in the pot?
The Who swung it for me, i think their ethics are questionable, but they are incredible live
-
You sound like great craic, ye gonna be at the meet?
I am a man of mystery, prefer to stay that way
-
Well that's the stupidest thing I've read today.
Why?
Roger Taylor is one of the most accomplished vocalists alive today, one of only a tiny handful of 4 octave singers, he is no showman so Queen without Freddie would been lacking a bit of extra spark, but Taylor could have more than filled in if Freddie had broken his leg
-
Have you even looked at the line up???
Genuine question.
course i have
at present my plans are
Wilko Johnson
Motorhead
Florence
Proclaimers
The Who
Bootleg Beatles
Tom Robinson
Courtney Barrett
Patti Smith
Paul Weller
Frank Turner
Wolf Alice
I dont know timings so there may be clashes, but they are my priority
I have no interest in circuses, tree hugger rubbish, dj sets etc, but will see some bands/artists
-
Why anyone would want to "kill time" at the biggest festival of performing arts on the planet is beyond me.....go find something you'd actually enjoy
i have my list of artists i want to go along and see, I am so so about the Foo Fighters, but if nothing is on at the other stages i have a greater desire to see then i will go along and see Foo Fighters
-
Like him and The Foo's or not .. Dave Grohl is comfortably the most famous and recognisable 'rock' musician in the past 15 years throughout the world.
Not a big Foo Fighters fan, had heard of Dave but couldn't name more than 2 or 3 of their songs, if they perform i will likely go see them as a time killer more than out of enthusiasm, but sounds like he is not replaceable
-
Yeah that's what they said about Queen...
If Freddie had broken his leg and couldn't perform then Roger Taylor or Brian May could have been more than capable of filling in
Was a genuine question, No one else in Stones or AC/DC can sing, wondered if anyone else in Foo Fighters could step in
-
How vital is he? Cant they just play without him if necessary? have one of the other members of the band sing and just get in a session guitarist
-
Someones posted a video of the whole thing
and now i'm feeling very confident they will play
Dave seems to be having a great time in that chair!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLWfLeHSZ-8
then the aftermath
https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=224&v=GeUrSm4_cpk
skip to 6.00 and tell me that him being in a chair will kill the energy of the show!
The guy was probably up to his eyeballs on morphine and other painkillers, not to mention the adrenaline, reality will hit him today
-
I had the exact same injury and know he will struggle. I think last night was just hus adrenaline and today he will be really feeling it.
I just can't see them playing
I predict the whole tour will be called off, Wembley, Glasto, the whole lot, Dave doesn't do half hearted performances, i would be surprised if there is not an announcement to that effect this weekend
-
They may play but there's absolutely no chance he'll be doing anything other than sitting on his backside for two and a half hours.
He was originally a drummer? They could just tell the drummer to take a holiday, bring in a session guitarist, and Dave could sit at the kit banging away and using up more energy, better than sitting in a chair playing a guitar
-
No, but he can do something pretty unique. I can't see it happening either, but...
I read this on his profile
"In the midst of the initial sessions for Foo Fighters' second album, tension emerged between Grohl and Goldsmith. According to Goldsmith, "Dave had me do 96 takes of one song, and I had to do thirteen hours' worth of takes on another one. ... It just seemed that everything I did was not good enough for him"
That shows to me that something has to be 100% perfect for Dave, biggest perfectionist out there, he won't accept the 70-80% he could realistically pull off
-
Not gonna happen, forget it
Their show is on live tv, will be seen across the UK and across the globe by an audience of tens of millions, Grohl is a pro and a perfectionist no way will he do a half hearted show infront of millions on tv, you can't just stick him in a chair and expect a 100% standard show even if vocally he can pull it off
-
Dave Grohl has broken his leg so wont be Foo Fighters

You could have just read it, thought inside 'pfft what an insensitive dickhead' and pressed the report button if it floats your boat, i dont see how it is helpful quoting me 6 pages on when 50 others previously had rightly condemned me, unhelpful and derailed a convo that had long since moved back to Dave Grohl
