Popped down for the Friday as the line up was amazing.
Very enjoyable festival! Loved the 2 stages side-by-side config, worked really well. Acts thru the afternoon were all good but all roads lead to LEFTFIELD - FAITHLESS DJ - ORBITAL... Wow!!
Lovely friendly up-for-it crowd, good selection of drinks, nice compact site and very good stage sound!
Well done to all involved!
-
So the closing act of the Magical Sounds dance tent is Transglobal Underground... with Natacha Atlas and Goldfinger re-joining the line-up for the first time in a long long time..
-
The guy up in the greenfields selling homebrew wine, lovely stuff and the bottles stood up very effectively in the mud..
Camped in the middle of Pennards, its normal madness but keeping the fire going all week took some work!
Car-henge and that whole area was lovely. Musical highlights Beth Orton, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, lots in the dance tent..
Using a fork to take several lbs of mud off your jeans every now and again and instantly feeling light as a feather..

THIS IS A TRUE STORY
a looong time ago we did a gig with the OZT at the acadamy night club in boscombe ..any long story short we was all on pills as was the thing back then and there was all these geezas with big boots so when the OZT came one all theses boots were having a great time then we WDA started our rave music [ for those youngersters years ago it was ust called rave ] all these boots fucked off the dance floor and the ravers [ we were young ] danced ANY WAY THE STORY
eat static played as well
I PLAYED BONGOS with rthe OTZs lol well i did untill they realised where this noise was coming from and pulled the switch ...........BUT IV still play with the OTZs ....lol
tis true ..
nice blokes btw
WDA!!!! Wow, you lot were ace!!!

Be better getting Peter Green to play the Ledge slot on Sunday afternoon.. Hearing Albatross, Man of the World and Green Manalishi etc would be ace...
-
Nice post, really enjoyed reading that!
We are really tempted to return next year, it will be 10 years since our last one [and 27 since my first where I fell in love with the place and did the entirety of the 90s] so nice to know its still the same...
Lets face it, where else can you see Kangaroo Moon 4 days in a row if you so desire!
-
Kangaroo Moon did have some equipment glitches to start with but turned it around in the end absolutely love our Sunday afternoon global, folk, celtic dance sessions.. Niteworks who played later were stunning..
Cheers to everyone who came and danced in the Magical Sounds tent, we had an absolute blast putting it all together and over 40 hours of programmed dance music in a field never felt better!!
-
Camped in Pennards 94, 95, 97, 99 and 2000 had a blast each year... in the early years we would get there Wednesday morning and have the whole field to ourselves, once even asked a telehandler to deliver a massive bale of firewood to where we were camped and he did..

While you wait for the headliners, here is a fantastic addition to the Magical Sounds Dance Tent -
-
In fact it has now sold out..
-
Gail's first ever tea tent was at Bearded Theory back on 2008 [side of a pub] and we have been lucky enough to have her wonderful tent and crew ever since..
Lovely to see the Something Else doos and solar stage go from strength to strength.
Can't wait to see her big top!! :)
-
Yes - Its bloomin top notch..
-
Is Banco not the headliner then? If so, whoever goes on after him will make for a pretty solid double bill
Banco De Gaia will absolutely close the tent and its going to be a corker of a show as Banco De Gaia will be a 3-piece live act..
TRANSGLOBAL UNDERGROUND will be joining us on the Sunday night!!!
It is indeed more of a double-header...last time I saw them both live on one night was at a MegaDog!!
So the Sunday night looks like -
Banco De Gaia [live]
Merv Pepler [Eat Static chilled DJ set]
Transglobal Underground [live]
Black Star Liner [Choque Hussain DJ set]
Dr Trippy [live]
-
Zetan, tangent, lab4, banco, rev Phil... Loads of good shizz..... Think banco & James will clash though, blast!
Banco more likely to clash with Neville Staples..
Final Magical Sounds headline act to be announced later today hopefully..
-
Hi all.. Magical Sounds Dance Tent line-up coming together really well. Should have an announcement by the end of the month..
As for The Prodigy - The greatest dance act of all times imho.. never say never.. virtual impossibility but virtual means theres a slither of opportunity should they want to play a dance tent at a proper grassroots festival.. lets keep dreaming..
