I saw U2's 360 tour at Wembley and that was fantastic, as they put on a great show. However I was in front of the stage. I imagine my reaction may have been different if I had to stare at Bono's arse all evening. Then again, he's a complete arse so I guess we all saw it

If this happens, the BBC censorship team will be working overdrive

he's (Taylor Hawkins) not particularly special, is he?
It's only a matter of time before Grohl records over his drum tracks on a new album.
On the subject of live Foo's, I've only seen them once at IoW 2011 and they were fantastic. They would be a perfect Glastonbury headliner imo

There's always money in the banana stand.
Can't believe I missed out on a frozen banana!! Makes me even more annoyed at missing out on a ticket for next year. If someone could get me one next year and chuck it over the wall for me that would be great, ta

My photo has been questioned both times I've gone. Nearly got refused exit at one point last year, before the bloke got his supervisor over to double check. Methinks I will be changing it tonight!

Ahh we get our Mike99 or NUFC bloke early this year. Good news
I feel that, because my name starts with 'nufc', I should come up with wild statements and predictions for who is going to play based on little or no evidence, as others like myself have done before.
However, I am not a fool...so I won't

And so it beings, as like every year, the faint tinge of hope for a particular band to play, knowing full well it's unlikely, but still continuing to dream...Glastonbury, why do you taunt us so??

The way you describe it is the kind of the way I feel about it. I had a great time, but there is was something missing. I've already mentioned that there should have been (IMO) changes to the set. I've been thinking about it and I might have gone for something like this:
1. Zoo Station
2. Even Better Than the Real Thing
3. Until the End of the World
4. I Will Follow/Out of Control
5. New Year's Day
6. City of Blinding Lights
7. Elevation
8. Beautiful Day
9. Stay (Faraway, So Close!)
10. Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - Sing-along & stripped down
10. Angel of Harlem/Desire - Sing-along & stripped down
11. Bad
12. Ultra Violet
13. Sunday Bloody Sunday
14. All I Want is You
15. One
16. Pride (In The Name of Love)
(Encore)
17. Where The Streets Have No Name
18. With or Without You
19. Walk On
While it is a cracking set list, I think they obviously wanted to play more of 'No Line' and a maybe a few different ones from Achtung Baby, although I think Ultraviolet would've been better than Until The End of The World. Plus they almost needed Vertigo and Get on Your Boots to be in there, played with Elevation and Beautiful Day, just to satisfy the recent 'hit' count.
Either way, it was fantastic and disappointing at the same time. I actually enjoyed being at the top of Wembley seeing them in 2010 more than this, when I was quite close to the front. Now I have the urge to watch Slane Castle again....

I still can't get my head round it. When you watch the footage it looks like they intended to finish with Moment of Surrender then decided they had time for one more so threw in Out of Control.
What was the thinking? Let's finish with a big ballad of that last album that everyone hated, hang on... time for one more. Let's throw in that obscure 1st single that even less people own.
I've listened to the recording of the show quite often and it sounds great but even on CD the drop off in interest is palpable.
Considering the Glastonbury performance was in the middle of their 360 tour, it's not surprising they finished the way they did, as that's how they finished pretty much every gig on that tour (minus Out Of Control). And on the previous tour they used to end with '40' - while I love this song, it literally goes nowhere and just fades out. Not exactly a bang either. I feel that U2 at Glastonbury (for a U2 fan) should've been something special, and I came away from the pyramid at the end of the night feeling nothing but disappointment and soggy feet

my god look at this comment
Is U2 the most versatile band ever?
If you like punk listen to Boy or War
If you like ambient music listen to The Unforgettable Fire
If you like sweeping, grandiose rock and roll (a la The Who) listen to The Joshua Tree
If you like traditional American folk/R&B/blues listen to Rattle & Hum
If you like distortion-heavy guitar rock listen to Achtung Baby
If you like Bowie-esque experimentalism listen to Zooropa
If you like electronic music listen to Pop
If you like old fashioned pop song craftsmanship listen to All That You Can't Leave Behind
Other styles of music appear in different places in U2's catalog as well, such as funk ('Mysterious Ways' and parts of the War album), gospel ("I Still Haven't Found..."), krautrock (parts of Achtung Baby), and hip-hop ('Miami' from the Pop album). U2 even wrote a jazz song for Frank Sinatra once.
I'm a massive U2 fan but this is absolute poppy-cock. But in the same vein, 'If you like music...don't listen to Pop'

Been to Isle of Wight once and got a nice warm cup full on my shoulder. I was watching the Foo's at the time so I didn't really take any notice. Have never seen that at Glastonbury...although I did have a couple come up to me in one of the bars asking if I minded if they did a line of coke in front of me, at least they had good manners....

Think I've seen two driving through Wantage over the last couple of months, and one parks down the road from me in Swindon, one of them weird looking fiat things

If Wham do get back together, I wonder if George will bring his own toilets...
(sorry, someone had to post a token George / toilet joke...I'm new, go easy on me)

Personally would love them to headline. Saw them at Wembley in 2010 and they were amazing. Just hope they play stuff off Origin again. Maybe more from the back catalogue as well rather than the latest album - Resistance and 2nd Law both have one or two good tracks but the rest are a bit poor, imo. Don't know if they regularly play Cave / The Small Print / Sunburn live but that would be great!
Download 2016

Has everyone finished squabbling over line ups and biggest bands now? Are all toys safely back in the pram for round 2?
As a first time Download attendee next year, I for one am glad the same bands are playing as I've never seen them. I can see how regular attendees get frustrated, especially as it is not the biggest festival around. Hence why I tend to go to IoW or, dare is say it, Glastonbury (*hides from backlash*) .
As a fan of rock music (and let's be fair, Download is a rock festival that seems to favour metal bands on the bigger stages) Sabbath and Maiden are two bands I've wanted to see for years but never got round to. I've heard Rammstein's shows are incredible, even though their music may not be!
Who else will be worth seeing, baring in mind I am not a massive fan of metal?
