  1. Cutting 70k tickets would cause a price increase of £150 per ticket to make up for the £15M revenue drop... a simple microeconomics supply/demand curve could demonstrate the scenario pretty well - still ok with that? Cool, I hope you don't mind cutting back on the festival features as well - due to the impending income reduction of the cash machine that is concessions revenue. It would be great if we all had more space, but the world runs on money, so economics will trump once again.

  2. 1. Metallica (no question)

    2. Massive Attack (close 2nd)

    3. St Vincent (unreal setting @ the Park stage)

    4. Robert Plant (needs to be knighted)

    5. Richie Hawtin (dope)

agreed on the Jack White consensus - totally sloppy performance by his standards... no interactions with the crowd... he cracked under the pressure from being sandwiched between 2 legends. I'm still a huge fan of his, but he definitely didn't step up!

  3. Try this technique or something similar:

You can use a good old carrier bag, put you hand inside it, feed the handles under and round your wristband, then have a friend gently pullthe handles, bag and band off you hand.

    Works surprisingly well

'Oh God, you're telling me I have to listen to another Led Zep tune?' - trust me, I've waited through a hell of a lot worse for some artists. In fact, Robert Plant into Jack White is pretty cool I think.

EDIT: did not include *sarcasm* specification... very excited for Robert Plant CBE

  5. kind of sucks that we have to sit through Robert Plant to get a good spot for Jack :P

saw his show at the less high profile Free Press Summer Fest in Houston this year, and wow... it was unreal. Jack's solo act now is really refined since he started (saw him in Memphis TN on his inaugural 4-show solo tour), basically turning all of his songs into mashups and jams... very cool. He opened with an epic Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground at the Houston show and it was so long that halfway through I forgot which song he was playing until he starting singing the last verse.... was so epic. Highlight of that performance was him playing Seven Nation Army through the festival finale fireworks (he was supposed to be done by then), and just rocked it out on top of all the explosions. We are in for a treat on Saturday.

  6. thanks for the tips - I'm the type of guy that thrives on challenges, so I'm more likely to get an energy burst from the ride than to feel tired.... besides, I think it will be a great way to witness some of England's countryside. sitting on a bus however, would likely make me want to go to sleep! I may end up hitchhiking on the way back though - anyone gander at my chances of success with that? or are there buses that would take up me and my bike? (back to Bristol)

    thanks

  7. Hi all -

I was curious if anyone has any experience with riding their bikes to the festival? I'm planning on riding from Bristol - unfortunately not with the sponsored group ride, but I'll be doing so on my own later in the week. There's a section on the official GF site about the cyclist area and whatnot... and they talk about a "secure area" for bikes - does anyone know if this requires bringing your own lock? Or do they lock it up for you?

Are there any members that will be taking the official route from Bristol? I'm not from the area and I would be guessing as far as the best route to take, so if it's posted somewhere online please let me know. I've looked and could not find it.

Also - I'd be curious to hear about anyone's cycling camp experiences, or if they've even had this in the past.... apparently there's a free campsite if you ride your bike.

    Thanks in advance!

  8. Hello, Glastonfolk. I apologize to be one of these online ticket-seeker types, but I just discovered that I will be in the UK for 2 weeks, and it happens to coincide with Glastonbury 2014 (bonus!). If there is anyone out there that knows of anyone that won't be able to make it, or just has an extra ticket, I would love to hear from you.

I'm a 25 year-old male, white, dark hair, huge Jack White & Metallica fan, and I enjoy long walks on the beach ;)

Please reach out to me with a PM if you think you can help me out. Thanks in advance.
