She mentioned Glastonbury in her BRITs speech in May 2021 so it definitely didn't drop immediately out of her conscience after Folklore/Evermore
QuoteWe've had so many amazing memories inn the last 15 years, from playing Shepherd's Bush Empire, to playing the O2 Arena, to playing Wembley Stadium, and hey, because of you, last year I almost played Glastonbury so. But, we all know what happened next, the world changed and I ended up putting out three albums instead.

So, given that the only solid info we have is "female" -
Cher
Stevie Nicks
Joni Mitchell
Carole King
Gladys Knight
Annie LennoxAny other obvious contenders?
Shania Twain - has said recently how much she wants to do it, and is active

Could they bump Lizzo up? Although she's in Belfast the night before so getting headliner production over may be difficult

Altho I was told by the LA Times that the Sahara tent was for up and coming bands, don't know why Blink are on that one. And early too.
They're a late 'surprise' addition. Arcade Fire were added in a similar slot last year when the timetables were released

Shania Twain just said on the John Bishop Show that Glastonbury is on her bucket list and she's been asked before, but just hasn't been able to make it work yet. 2024?

Ringo Starr? He's on a US tour until June 28th

Definitely aren't playing the Other, or at all?
At all. Said they were hoping to headline Other either 2019 or 2020 but didn't get the call... got offered the secret set quite late as there was no other room for them in either year. He seemed pretty bummed about it.

A certain lead singer of a certain equine-based band told me last night that 2 of the Other Stage headliners were The 1975 and Dua Lipa, and his band definitely aren't playing

him saying "we're in greece the day before" is really weird...
i mean glasto is an entire weekend thing, that seemed oddly specific, and perfect for that John Peel Sunday slot
I found that weird as well - doubt someone like Brandon Flowers would know the exact date of a festival they weren't playing. The fact that he knew they would have to leg it from Athens to get there is interesting...

Normal ones are £12 from memory

Sheeran made his return to the stage last night... it's happening.

Anyone know of any live sites/fan zones in Lisbon to watch the Euros semi final Portugal are in on the Wednesday night? Will be a great atmosphere

Last year we got the shuttle into Shepton Mallet for this purpose on Wednesday afternoon. We waited a while to get on a bus at Gate A, but only because we didn't think to check the timetable and got there just after one had left.
As someone has said it drops you off right at Tesco - they were very well stocked - I'd say they know pretty well how much stock they would need for that weekend. We had the choice of going leisurely and waiting an hour for the next shuttle to pick us up or rush around for 10 minutes to get the same shuttle bus back. We opted to rush and it worked out fine.
If you know the timetable and if you know what you want so you can shop quickly, you shouldn't be off site for more than 90 minutes.

AC/DC + Adam Lambert
edit: ah was beaten to it in the Headliners thread

On the 'bands' comment:
If that came from Michael I'd be incredibly suspicious, but I think Emily is more likely to choose her words carefully. If one of the headliners was a solo act, she could easily have said 'three British artists/acts'. I think it's very likely that by saying 'bands' she actually means bands. Adele isn't a band.
She also said last night that PJ Harvey last played in 1994 (it was 2004). Also worth bearing in mind that the Metro article was published before the NME Awards was even finished last night, so may not have been a direct quote given it was rushed through.

The Killers were originally asked to move from their Friday sub slot to the Sunday headline slot

It is 100% not them, but rumours are that the 2024 tour is a Hot Fuss 20th anniversary tour
