  1. It's hard one - they would probably headline West Holts, but there have been a few Hip-Hop acts on the Pyramid during Daytimes - De La Soul, Snoop, N.E.R.D, etc, and have been brilliant, so I'd be equally happy with that!

  2. RTJ were amazing last year - esp as it had been pissing it down right up until they came out, along with the sun!

De La Soul played a couple of years ago and were unbelievably good! Don't know if it's too soon for them to come back again, but they would be most welcome!

Ice Cube would be brilliant, but if anyone, I'm harbouring the faintest of hopes for The Roots - they've recently promised they've got a few things up their sleeves, and that everyone will be sick of them by 2017!!!

  3. The Who are brilliant, no doubt about it, but the problem for me is The Who vs Chemical Brothers is exactly the same lineup as in 2007 - I watched up until Behind Blue Eyes, then went over to watch the 2nd half of Chemical Bros. Would just be a bit disappointing to see exactly the same clash again! And the whole Paris thing makes it harder for me to believe it's true, but you never know!!

  4. His current setlist is much more diverse than it was in 2004, but Roskilde (one week later) is specifically announced as "his only European festival gig this summer". Besides, I really think such an iconic slot will not be something they want to repeat: 2004 it is.

Unless UKIP somehow get into power and take us completely out of Europe. Just hope that getting Macca to play Glasto isn't part of their Manifesto!!! :fie:

  5. Every single time someone uses FATM I think they have written RATM and get slightly over excited before I realise and give my screen the skunk eye.

Haha, same here - or a Faith No More / Rage collaboration/supergroup!!! I get overly excited, then the real rage sets in when I realise exactly what FATM really stands for!!!

  6. Very, very random but if RATM were to appear at Glastonbury, would slot would they get?

I would bloody Love it RATM were to play Glasto again!! Ideally if they did, they'd headline - I know people would moan about that, but seeing as they are not currently active, it would have to be a big coup to get them!! Headlining the Other Stage at the very least!!

  7. I 100% be up for seeing Macca but i'd doubt i'd go to one of his own shows

but i'd love it if he turned up to a festival I was attending!

2004 he was amazing!!! I'd definitely be up for him playing again!! It was a Beatles-heavy set, with some of his other hits thrown in there (Live and Let Die was spectacular), what could be better? Will always be one of my top Glasto sets!

  8. Everything points to it being FM, the comments that have been made, Brit with american band..., been around a long time.., it goes on, plus the fact that the two other headliners are big names there still not a massive name and i really do think the only band out of all the rumours to top this could be FM.

Have faith in GF people there holding back a huge announcement!

Don't read too much into quotes by Michael that he makes the previous year - he always says that they've sorted next year's headliners at the end of the festval each year, when clearly they haven't got them fully sorted. The above comment was made, yet apparently the 3rd Headliner may have only been sorted in the last week!

  9. The Strokes is actually a really, really good shout. I don't know why we haven't talked about them more, to be honest.

Again, they categorically said they're not playing Glasto. Again though, could just have been said because it was true at the time. I'm personally getting into the mood that I'm just willing to wait until it's announced, and hope it's a good one! I haven't got a clue who it will be, but I've spent too many weeks obsessing, I'm exhausted!

  10. On another note, Tim Burgess responded to me on Twitter today! That made my day! Pretty much said they've not been booked, but wouldn't be able to say even if they had been!

  11. Also quick note on prince, went and watched him in birmingham last year and he was incredible, best live act ive seen (which is an ever growing list including fleetwood Mac), would absolutely kill it on the pyramid (in a good way)

I went to the 2nd night in Birmingham - absolutely amazing!! I wasn't the biggest Prince fan in the world, but having seen him, he is easily one of the best people I've ever seen!! So much fun as well!! And to add to that, his drummer, Hannah Ford, is quite easily the fittest drummer ever!! :D

  12. Perhaps that would tie in with the rumour that Prince is back in London in June?

I've seen Prince announcing shows in USA a few days before the gigs, still on his Hit and Run tour. Wouldn't surprise me if he will do the same again, as he did last year, around the time of Glasto, so makes sense he is holding back until he announces these gigs as well!

  13. Prob not on the same level as the Stones, etc, but I remember Amy Winehouse was totally rammed in 2008! And Jay Z was as well after, hard to get in there at all from the front. Jay Z cleared a bit after the start, but is the only time I had to get in from the back!

  14. Were you... further away, when the Stone Roses played?

Lol, you'd think wouldn't you! But nah, we were in pretty much the same spot!! The volume was just a lot lower, but they're quiet infamous supposedly for having to do that - allegedly cause of Ian's vocals - he can't belt out songs like other singers do. Not totally sure how much truth there is in this, but that's what I've heard before, off a fair few people.

Btw - I saw them in Staffs. I just know that I've never had a major problem with any other headliner I've ever seen before with hearing people chatting over the music! :/

  15. I'm going to pop down the off licence & get some cold bottles of Brothers to celebrate paying off my ticket & coach ticket.

    From Seetickets email...

    "Hello

Yes everything is fine, your coach travel was paid for along with the ticket deposit back in October.

    Kind Regards

Haha, glad to know I'm not the only one that does that - a nice cold bottle of Brothers Festival Pear Cider cracked open when I pay off my deposit each year!!

  16. V's much more of a Killers crowd than a Stone Roses one to be fair

True, but I've always been a massive Stone Roses fan, and never a massive Killers fan (although I did like them, just not a massive fan). Totally blown away by The Killers - they were just quality, and simply smashed their set. Then when the Stone Roses came on, from the start you sensed something wasn't right when they were just so quiet! I'm not in any way saying they were bad - it's just that having lived in Manchester for years, they have always been one of my most beloved bands of all time, and it just didn't live up to expectations!! As I said before, if it is them, I'll still no doubt watch them, and hopefully having a lower expectation will make it a better experience this time!

  17. When I saw Ian brown play reading 2009 I felt the same, didn't do it for me at all

I saw him in Sydney and he was brilliant!! It was when he'd started playing a few Stone Roses, not long after he'd released Solarized, and bloody loved him! I have heard that Heaton Park was a brilliant gig, but I think it probably depends on the crowd! You can't live in Manchester and not have total love for them, but at V, it was full of teenage Scousers who didn't really know much about them, so didn't get into it, and just ended up chatting the whole time! Hopefully there will be more fans at Glasto!!

  18. And I for one would be delighted with that! The stuff about Emily being followed (on Twitter) by Kanye, Foos and... The Stone Roses, seems like a bit of a giveaway too.

I'll be slightly disappointed if it is the Stone Roses! Love Indie music, love their stuff, used to Live in Manchester, and have never been as disappointed by a band as when I saw them at V a few years ago!! I know it's V Festival, but I expected a legendary set from THE Legendary Indie band pretty much of all time! I've seen Ian Brown before, and even met the bloke, and bloody loved him, so I'm not going down the typical road of slagging him off, but they really just didn't do it for me and my mates, all massive fans expecting a magical gig!

Hopefully if it is them, then they will prove me wrong - and maybe it just didn't click that night, but it was just too quiet a set (most of the kids round us just didn't know much about them, but you could hear them all chatting the whole time rather than the Roses), John Squire was off doing his own twiddling bits in between every song that just became a bit tedious, and somehow the set became quite boring at times in the middle. The great stuff was brilliant, but there was just something that felt a bit of a let down to us all. Especially after the Killers had unexpectedly absolutely smashed it the night before!!

  19. After reading that I can just imagine Guy Garvey cannon balling into a pool of cash. Sometimes my imagination baffles me

    A little something like this???

  20. I'd love to know what sort of payment the headline acts do get, just out of interest.

Always hear 'low payday' banded about but I don't think I've ever heard a rough figure. It's still got to be reasonably big.. surely

I've heard before that they get a free cheese from the farm!! And am sure I heard it was bout £100-200k or something for headlining (Michael has said he paid £200k to Paul McCartney + Coldplay)- not a paltry amount, whereas they could get at least £1m, if not a lot more for headlining other festivals, Reading etc? But this isn't the whole story anyway - the media coverage for Glasto is on another planet to any other festival, so whilst they only get a small percentage in payment, it's worth it because of the album sales that they get in the following weeks, both most recent albums and their back catalogue!!

If we stopped all acts with an ego playing....the line up would be shit.

Enough with the "fuck Prince and his ego".

    Same goes for kanye

Same goes for pretty much most stars! The Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have got gigantic Ego's, Beyonce, U2, etc - why do noone mention it about them! You have to have an ego to get to the top - Dave Grohl is probably one of the few exceptions. I saw Prince last year, and all I can say is he's amazing, I've not seen many better live acts in my life! So who gives a toss if he's got a massive ego!

Same goes for Kanye as well - as long as he doesn't have a rant, he's incredibly good live!!
