  1. I don't understand how TLSP could be subheadliners of the end show. Are they that popular abroad UK ? Since the end show was established, we got bigger bands for subbing (Franz Ferdinand, Outkast, Limp Bizkit). I would see them third down main stage, unless they have a big big act for the end show...

Noel, Bastille, Sigur Ros as sub headliners are very probable.

Hope to see sum 41 as third down main stage with a big band subbing Guetta.

  2. There were around 50 caravans in total, all crammed onto an old disused tennis court near the swimming pool. We had caravan #1 as we were the first to arrive on the Friday night and they clearly weren’t ready for anyone to move in…. we handed our ticket over and they look a bit shocked to see us. We were left waiting for about two hours as they sorted us out. After that and a loooooong day travelling I’ve never slept so well!

All in all, I think they were worth the added cost, although as previously stated by someone else they’re a bit crappy and bits will fall off it like window handles. I didn’t use the VIP pool as it always seemed incredibly rammed but I did enjoy the area around it, perfect for crashing on the grass and sleeping away the malaise from the night before although be aware it is designated an no alcohol zone. The only real problem was that the VIP toilets and showers were actually a pretty long walk from the caravans and the huts and this also meant the free wi-fi didn’t extend to those areas, not that any of us got the bloody thing to work at the reception area either. Did anyone else get it to work?

Great festival in general though, I can see where the favourable comparisons to Glastonbury come from. A few minor quibbles, like the A38 being a pain in the arse to get into for bands I didn’t even think would be that popular. A lot of the food on offer was pretty grim and in some cases it was clearly unsafe, such as several stalls leaving lukewarm rice hanging around for hours, or serving undercooked chicken. We all got the shits - speaking to other people at the site it seemed a pretty common problem, not ideal at a festival. Eating at the McDonalds van was like eating at a Michelin starred restaurant compared to a lot of the other options. Shame.

As we had to go early on the 'moving in' days due the flight timetable from East Midlands, it’s also a very very long….a hell of a long time to be in ‘festival mode’, which is why I’d definitely recommend the upgrade to VIP!

Other pointers for people thinking of going next year:

    - the Citypass is fantastic, worth the money alone for the opportunity to basically queue jump the enormous line of people waiting for train tickets on the moving out day. However, the airport shuttle bus wasn’t running on the day we got there (Friday). It starts on Saturday only.

    - the ferry into Budapest seemed to only start running at 2pm, which seems a bit pointless. So if you fancy shooting off into the city regularly and aren’t stranded in VIP camping, park yourself on the same side of the island as the bridge and train station for a quicker getaway.

    - Don’t bother with the moving in day on Friday. It’s not worth the money - hardly anything is open on site as it’s still under construction. If you have no choice but to arrive that day because of flights (as was the case with us), get yourself a hostel in Budapest for the night instead.

    - Don’t ask the staff at Champs Sports Bar in the city to put the football on the screen nearest you when there’s a big Australian rugby game on. They’re only too happy to try and oblige, and when they accidentally turn the rugby off on the big screen by mistake you really won’t be very popular….

Thanks for all these informations !

Can you tell me how much did you pay for : 7 days pass + caravan ? How many people can sleep in a caravan ?

  3. Where does it say about Skrillex being on after Placebo?

    It's all a bit weird, isn't it?

Still, Manics and Klaxons on my birthday!

Because both are playing the main stage on 13th so i think skrillex will close that stage like deadmau5 will after QOTSA on 12th.

  4. Done a bit more rooting around acts' websites, trying to find out when they're playing. From what I can gather, we've got this so far:

    Day -1

Jake Bugg. Not sure about this one, I thought it was Hungarian music only on this day, but that's what his website says

    Day 0

    Queens of the Stone Age

    Deadmau5

    Anti-Flag

    Tom Odell

    Day 1

    Placebo

    Imagine Dragons

    Miles Kane

    Day 2

    Skrillex (on his website)

    Bastille

    Lily Allen

    Michael Kiwanuka

    Fink

    Stromae

    Day 3

Macklemore (the only day headlinerless if Skrillex is indeed on Day 2)

    Laidback Luke

    Klaxons

    Day 4

    The Prodigy

    Jagwar Ma

    Starlight Girls

    Bombay Bicycle Club

    Crystal Fighters

    Day 5

    Calvin Harris

    Darkside

Feel free to correct me on anything I've got wrong, or add in any acts I've missed that have announced a day.

Macklemore is at Pukkelpop on friday. And i think the kooks are playing on sunday.

Can we expect one more headliner for friday ?

Where did you see that skrillex is playing day 2 ? i don't see it on his website !

  5. I did think it was odd that Frequency had managed to get so many big bands on the same day... Makes sense that they just haven't formatted the website properly yet.

Skrillex as a 2nd stage headliner then, or playing after the main headliner?

How many stages are there at Sziget?

there is the Main stage , 2 big tents (capacity: 10000-12000 ) the world stage and a lot of smaller stages (hungarian, blues, gypsy...) !

A lot! For Skrillex if he's not on the main stage he would be on the Party Arena I think.

New hint: Sziget Italia shared the new (and first) album of Skrillex, saying that he will be in Sziget between the 13th and the 16th!

For me it's easy to understand: They will try to book another headliner but if they fail Skrillex will be one. Or it will be Lily Allen unfortunately but i hope no!

    I think you're right !

Maybe Skrillex is more likely to play in the A38 (at 1am or something like that) as i think it was the biggest tent last year (bigger than the arena party)

who can be the last headliner ? Blink 182? The National ? or a band who doesn't have announced dates yet for this week ?

I think Portishead could sub on wednesday or thursday ( they are already booked for friday, saturday and sunday ).

Could OutKast sub Calvin Harris on Sunday ? they are probably too big for this slot but as Calvin is a "end show", maybe they want to book a big artist before him like Franz Ferdinand last year which could easily headline a festival like Sziget !

  6. On the Frequency website's line up page, each act has a date. His says the 14th

If you refer to this website, all bands announce are playing on the 13th or the 14th.. Don't think Placebo, QOTSA and Skrillex are all playing 14th because they are written as the headliners (first line, in big caracters on the line up poster) and are all too big to play the same date in this kind of festival. This date just refer to the beginning of the festival and the 13th to the extra day added this year which is new.

I think Skrillex will play on Frequency on friday 15th because Placebo will play there on Saturday (official date on placebo website) and QOSTA (the last frequency headliner) will play on thursday ( no official date yet but they can’t play on friday because Lowlands and Highfield festival booked them too (these festivals will take place between 15-17 august) and QOSTA will play Pukkelpop on satudray 16th).

So don't think Skrillex can play Sziget on the 15th... Maybe I'm wrong !

    What's your view?

  7. Skrillex is playing Frequency 4M festival on the 14th, so he must be playing (probably headlining) Sziget on the 15th.

EDIT: And its only a 2 hours drive from Frequency FM (where Macklemore is playing on the 13th) to Sziget, so I think it's entirely possible he can headline Sziget on the 14th, before heading to Germany on the 15th

Where is it confirm that Skrillex is playing frequency on the 14 th ?

  8. Well, it seems some lessons have been learnt.

QOTSA and Placebo clearly headliners, Calvin Harris second from top. Hopefully Klaxons in the A-38 late on.

    Have it!

Imagine Dragons and Calvin Harris should be good as well. And I've heard good things about Starlight Girls.

You think Calvin harris won't headline ?

  9. Hi everybody ! I am new here and I have some questions about this fest as i'm planning to go there this summer, but still waiting for more names in the line up !

    - when are the tickets sold out ?

    - what can we bring in the campsite area ? Alcohol, food ?

    - is it possible to bring alcohol in the festival area ? Or is it easy to get inside the festival area with alcohol hidden under clothes or the security is vigilant relative to that ?

-What are the prices for 0,5 L beer and for food ?

    - Are there any parties in the campsite after all concerts are over ?

    - Is there a long walk between the festival area and the campsite ?

Thank you for your answers !

  10. What do you think about Blink-182 headlining Sziget ?

they are touring europe in August and have already announced these dates:

-Chiemsee summer festival in south of germany: 13-17.8.2014

-Highfield festival (east of germany): 15-17.8.2014

-Frequency festival (east of Austria): 14-16.8.2014

    -Stuttgart, germany: 18.8.2014

    -Dortmund, germany:19.8.2014
    -Hamburg Crash Fest, germany: 20.8.2014

So i think there is a possibility they'll headline the wednesday night (13.8.2014) because frequency fest is really near Budapest and after headlining this festival, they will go and perform in Germany from the south to the north.

    Just an idea !
