  1. Variety is great, but a festival full of older people tutting and disapproving of the younger ones wouldn't be much fun. Thats why I say that when you stop enjoying young peple's company it is time to move on, not that older people shouldn't go.

I think the mix of ages is one of the best things about Glastonbury, but not if the older ones end up spoiling the younger ones fun.

What you a describing is older and younger people enjoying each others company, which is completely different from what I was saying.

  2. Festivals don't belong to those who have been going for years, they belong to young people. I havehave always said that festivals are a young people's space which you can occupy for as long as you still enjoy it as they do. If you reach the stage that their stuff no longer appeals, or you no longer enjoy their company, it is time for you to move on. Luckily at Glastonbury, there are places to move to that are still in the festival.

  3. I am of relatively advanced years but for some reason have never been to a festival before. My main worries when I managed to get a ticket were:

    - that it would be so big I would be completely overwhelmed and not be able to enjoy it

    - that it would never be able to live up to the excitement of the buildup (much of it fuelled by this very forum!)

I am pleased to report that neither of these fears materialised.

I saw a lot of things.

I missed a lot of things.

    I hung out with friends.

    I talked to strangers.

I had many interesting experiences (but was too cowardly to try the Goan fish curry, which I regret).

I am still starry-eyed about it all.

Perhaps those who are feeling that it didn't quite hit the spot should miss a year, if only to discover how wrong they were (cunning ploy for reducing competition in October)

  4. ive been 15 time spent thousands i think people like me should be allowed to have a 24 hour start LOLyea yea shout on old sons but ive got a point ...........................................some where lol

  5. to be fair if i had the technical know how i would probably have tried using the DNS trick however hopefully they'll sort it for october as its not really fair on people who were unable to get them as they were unaware of the trick- my mum who's been going for over 20 years was unable to get the single ticket she was looking for as people were using the cheat to get multiple tickets for huge groups

  6. My friend lost her Samsung phone on Friday night. We then got a text from the phone to say that someone had picked it up and would call us. She left a voicemail on Saturday to ask if we could pick it up from where she was working, which we would willingly have done but we could not hear the voicemail to know where to pick it up from. I texted the phone to ask her to text her location or leave the phone at Lost Property but we have heard nothing since. My friend with the lost phone is called Jane. Just in case anyone is reading this and recognises this story, my friend would love to get her phone back.

  7. Only queued at Gate C once, on Friday morning - the queue looked horrendous but actually only took about 20 mins, and they said it wasn't actually at the gate but was due to having to stop people crossing the road due to traffic.

  8. Not in favour of flags (I'm only 5'4" so have to work hard enough to see the stage) but have to confess we really laughed at a skewered Bagpuss upside down on the top of a flagpole at the Chic gig...

We were thinking it might be a good idea to line the crowd up depending on height, with all us shorties at the front. If you want to stand with your friends you have to stand in the section relative to the tallest person in your group. Shouldn't take much organising .....

  9. When you reject the first toilet that you go into at the motorway services, and then realise that if it had been offered to you at Glastonbury you would have thrown yourself on the ground screaming with delight, and would probably taken up residence in it for the entire weekend....

  10. We want to be ideally next to and preferably close to our friends in another CV in the East Fields. We're travelling from the North, probably via the M5, and they are coming from Bath. We figured we would try and meet up north of Pilton and then continue in convoy. Can anyone suggest any suitable places to do this, far enough away so that we're not overwhelmed with others doing the same (and equally so we're not annoying the hell out of other people) but close enough so we don't get separated once we set off in convoy?
