  1. What's wrong with private chat mate? :)

Anyway, you'll be so surprised how Exit is gorgeous festival.

    PS I am serious :)

Nothing wrong with a private chat at all - best kept secrets for proper private chat  :friends:

As it draws ever closer, really looking forward to this - I'm convinced it will be fantastic and the food and drink look amazing - can't wait for the  "cevapcici" with "Sopska" salad  :derisive:

  2. Leftfield - excellent news.
I have to say though, I'm a little disappointed with this line up. Big announcements being a thrash metal stage and a whole bunch of local acts. This isn't to denigrate the quality of these acts just to point out as a festival that is claiming to be one of the top ones in Europe, I am not sure what audience they are trying to appeal to. Yes, it is certainly eclectic but to the point of obscurity. There are a few pop acts in there but that's all they are. I was expecting a little more indie.

Anyway, grumble over and I am so looking forward to the experience and I am sure there will be plenty to see/ enjoy in any case.

This forum is certainly a lot quieter than the Beni one last year - not that that's a bad thing as there were quite a few 'dicks' on the Beni one, but this is a bit like a private chat session between hostmat and myself :giverose:

  3. Mate, there are 20 stages all over the Fortress, you should look for each of them :)

Some of them are hidden among the pitches and walls :)

I'll certainly be looking (to avoid the 'explosive stage') :music: - listened to a few of the electronic acts announced so far - I really like Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati, Zomboy not a great fan of Hardwell though. Clearly many things to see and do so I'm not at all worrying. My previous post was just an observation of that particular act and that no matter how pissed I am, I won't be curious to see what they offer live.

  4. Few more acts confirmed:

    Main stage:

    Tom Odell

    Explosive stage:

    Napalm Death

    Fear Factory

    Terror

    Nuclear Assault

Curious to see what any of these were like - quick Spotify later - I think I managed 20 seconds of Napalm Death - I should have known from the first paragraph of their Bio.

"The fathers of grindcore, Napalm Death pushed the envelope of metal to new extremes of ear-splitting intensity, rejecting all notions of melody, subtlety, and good taste to forge a brand of sonic assault almost frightening in its merciless brutality. "

I think that about sums it up and I will be looking for an alternative stage!

  5. Sorry mate I just though you are dedicated to rock music :)

Redemption desk will be opened on Wednesday from 12-8 pm and from 10 am on Thursday. You can easily avoid crowd if you choose any other moment rather then 8 pm on Thursday :)

Redemption desk is 20 minutes far from Fortuna by walk.

If you are into electronic music, you might like acts confirmed for Techno night at Dance Arena: http://www.exitfest.org/en/lineup-2015

    Cheers mate

    Excellent, thanks for the info.

I'll check out those acts already announced! No, definitely not just a rocker, I pretty much am open to most types of music except current 'pop' music.

    Cheers

  6. More acts will be announced soon. It is normal for Exit Festival to confirm acts a bit later than the other festivals.

Motorhead and Eagles of Death Metal are confirmed as far as some big electronic acts but it seems you are not into electronic music (although you should definitely spent some time at Dance Arena, it is the second biggest stage (cca 20.000 people), probably one of the most spectaculars Dance stages in the world).

Mate there are no stupid questions :)

Currency is Serbian Dinar (you will get roughly 140 dinars for 1 pound - which is equal to price of beer in local pubs )

Redemption desk is near the main entrance of the festival, you cannot miss it. Also, you have one entrance per day but I am more than sure you would not even thinking of going out :)

Redemption desk will be open from July 7th and it is better to redeem your wristband as soon as possible to avoid crowd at opening night.

    cheers

You get me all wrong - I'm not some ageing rocker :music: whilst I am looking forward to seeing Motorhead, they aren't the reason for picking Exit. I'm have moved into this century with my music tastes and most definitely will be going to the Dance Arena (probably not til 8am though). Can't wait, particularly as you describe it - sounds amazing.

Is the Redemption desk open all day? We are getting the 10pm transfer from Belgrade as we are spending the evening there just to see what that's like, so I'm guessing the Redemption desk will be closed by the time we get to Novi Sad. Look to get it on the Thursday, but before the main gates open though sounds sensible. So what time does it open on the Thursday (or close on the Wednesday) and how far is it to walk from Hotel Fontuna do you know?

    Thanks again

  7. Mate you have plenty things to do during the day. Doors will be opened each day from 7pm to 3am (but festival is open till 8am :) ) so you can go to the beach "Strand" (believe it or not, daily ticket costs £0,3 ). Also there is many places with great food and the food is at least 3-4 times cheaper then food in UK. Beer cost £1,2 at Exit festival so you can easily compare it with costs at any other festival in UK or Europe.

Hotel Fontana is located in the city center so you can have access to all pubs and other interesting places.

We had first time ever rainy festival last year so I suppose (and hope) this will never happen again. Weather is hot, roughly 30+ degrees during the day.

If you have any other question, do not hesitate to ask :)

PS Venue is absolutely unique, it will blown you away, it is medieval Fortress with 25 stages located all over it.

Rained at Benicassim last year too - but didn't last too long. This is the reason why we don't go to English festivals - even when it does rain though, your stuff dries out. Sounds a lot cheaper than Beni too - 9 euros for litre of beer in festival which is comparable to English festivals. Really looking forward to this though - when do the next lot of acts get announced? I saw Motorhead on their Bomber tour in 1980 and again in 1981, so looking forward to them, just interested when other acts typically get announced - this forum doesn't seem to have the same volume of folks second guessing what the line up will be for ever and a day - not saying this is a bad thing - the Beni forum had quite a number of dicks in last year!!

Anyway, cheers for the info - a couple of other (probably stupid questions - one particularly is)

what's the currency? I've seen stuff posted in euros, but the chap quoted me Serbian dinar for the hotel, secondly once you're in the festival, you can't come back out again can you (or if you do, you can't get back in again)? and finally is it obvious where you get your wristband or do you just get it the first night?

    Thanks

  8. Hi mate, if you have more time to spent, I would like to suggest you to go to Sea Dance festival after Exit (which actually an extension of Exit festival (at the beach)).

Let me know what kind of information need regarding Exit.

If you need some tips re accommodation, take a look here: http://www./en(Exit Trip is official tourist service for Exit festival).

PS you should book some flight a bit later, Dance Arena will be opened until 8 am on Monday morning :)

    cheers

    Hi - thanks for this.

I have to fess up a bit - I can't stay for the Sea Dance festival as my wife and I have to get back for my daughter's graduation - this gives you a clue as to why a) I have to get back on the Monday (and am constrained by flight times to get back for Tuesday) and B) I am not sure at my age that I would be up for the Dance Arena until 8am. I usually last until about 3-4am (at Benicassim) - either too wasted or too tired.

Just saying to wife last night though if we like it should definitely go again and do the Sea Dance festival.

Just booking Fontana (hotel restaurant) which seems to get good reviews. Camped at Beni for 3 years which was OK as had a couple of weeks after as a holiday in hotel to recover, but as above, going to Exit then quick return so thought would hotel this time.

So, what is there to do in day time? Is there a beach(y) type place to congregate on the Danube? Good food places? Stuff to do that may not be so easily discovered in Exit itself - read a review somewhere online that said there was a 'hidden' acoustic set somewhere. Just any tips you can think of really. What's the weather like for example - hot I am assuming, but what about when the sun goes down? Prices of drinks in Exit/ town blah blah.

    Cheers

  9. Hi to all you folks here.

I'm new to this forum but looking for some advice for Exit. Been to Benicassim last 3 years but thought try something different this time.

Any hints/ tips etc. ? Not been to Serbia before, so anything useful really - Flying to Belgrade on the Wednesday, returning Monday 10.25am flight (booked 6:30am transfer from Novi Sad off Exit website so hopefully that give time enough to get flight).

Trying to book hotel/ restaurant Fontana (sent them a 'contact us' message to book) - any other suggestions?

    Thanks

  10. At the risk of being 'flamed' for cross posting on the 2014 Benicassim forum, I'll ask the same question on the forum.

I have done Beni for the last 3 years and had a great time. However, now looking for something slightly different but similar. I love (generally) the line up at Beni, but really like the fact that can party in the evening and into the early hours at the festival then have a few hours kip in the tent then down to the beach for additional zzzz's.

Does Nos Alive have a similar day/ evening way of passing the day - i.e. is NA warm enough to treat as a beach holiday too and is the beach close enough to have part of the daily routine? Generally, the lineup from NA looks similar to Beni so it is the other stuff that I'm really interested in....

Anyone shed some light on this sort of stuff?

    Many thanks

    Conrad

  11. Fair enough, this is on personal preference, but your mate is talking absolute shite! NOS/optimus alive is twice the festival Benicassim is!

And the sound is so much better than Beni! If beni didn't have sun, I genuinely wouldn't think of going back, amateur in comparison to my experience at Optimus Alive!

Does that mean Optimus Alive! doesn't have much sun then?

Why I love Beni so much is that you can doss down on the beach during the day to recover - is this not the norm for Optimus then? This is the main reason for not enduring UK festivals.

  12. NOS Alive (previously Optimus) has really good lineups, with less of the pop crap; might be more your taste. Sudouste normally has good lineups, if a little smaller than Beni.

Yeah, Optimus Live was the one I was thinking of, but given what Mokes has said, I might consider BKS too.

Still welcome any more suggestions though to at least give me a greater choice.

    Ta

  13. I agree with everything you said, especially the changed set times with absolutely no mention of it. They could have put some signs up in the campsites at the very least informing people. I met a guy who was inconsolable because he arrived the the time Weller was supposed to be on only to find out that the set was swapped with Buggs and he had missed it.

After doing a fair bit of extensive research into what festival would be best for my tastes I think I will do Best Kept Secret next year, 2013 had a near perfect line-up for me and this year had some great acts too. If the line-up is right for 2015 it looks like the pick of them if you want to be able to swim.

from their website- Best Kept Secret festival focuses 100% on music, with a strong, sharp line-up in which big names are alternated with many new discoveries from indie, folk, hip-hop, rock, electronics or a mixture of styles. The gorgeous festival site with forests, beach, swimming water, nearby holiday park and campsite, excellent food and drink all contribute to our goal: your perfect festival. It doesn't seem like the type of festival that you would get a lot of douchebags starting fights and has no mention that they have any interest in having pop acts on the line-ups.

The only sign that was of any help was the one on the Pringles set saying that they had run out of waterproof ponchos after the downpour when Of Montreal was on! I agree, it wouldn't have been beyond the wit of man to put up some sort of sign - it isn't as if they don't know where everyone is!!

I will look into BKS festival then - sounds ideal.

    Thanks

  14. Top festival again this year. Highlights - Kasabian, Couteneers (very lively, but marred slightly by a few dickheads wanting a rumble in front of the mixing desk), Of Montreal (agree with previous on this - great fun in the storm), Kodaline (surprisingly good), PoUSA (great fun and did a grand job of getting crowd going for such an early slot), Travis (good new stuff and classics), Tame Impala (great light show too), Libertines (not too wasted they couldn't perform - unlike Primal Scream last year), James (bossed it as usual - great start up act - why the fuck on so early I don't know). Surprise acts were some of the foreign ones - Triangulo de Amouro Bizarro (or something similar) were very good as were Francois & Atlas Mountain.

Hats off too to some of the fill in music - Alternative TV, Love Comes in Spurts etc. and some of the earlier DJ sets played some classics.

Arrived on Wednesday and got a great pitch - grass and shade so wasn't too hot in morning, but couldn't stay in tent past 10, but much better than last year. Was in left hand camping area - why no mens open air piss pots I don't know - had them in the right hand area three years ago and saved queues for sit downs. Great crowd again with no trouble.

However, why the fuck did they change Razorlight on the Saturday and then continued to fuck around with the order the rest of the night? Really this is my only complaint..

As to those complaining about the food in the town, clearly didn't look hard enough or don't understand european eating. My wife and I probably ate the best we every have done on holiday - 3 (sometimes 4) course lunch menus for 12 euros with a drink. Top quality food - not chips and chicken or burger or mass produced paella. Had whitebait, hake, cod, lamb stew, pork medallions (with cheese), squid (or small cuttlefish), steak (thin flash fried) etc. etc.

http://garyskitchen.wordpress.com/2013/07/25/spanish-gastronomy/ (this is the one we ate in loads - but we did stay another week)

    http://garyskitchen.wordpress.com/2013/07/25/all-quiet-in-garyskitchen-but-heres-a-little-taster/

    do your research folks!!!

And on a totally different matter, this has been my third time at Benicassim and am now looking at trying something different (better hopefully but I don't know how you could been Beni), so looking for suggestions - fancy Portugal.

Music tastes as above - like the last three years' line up, but not a fan of the more poppy stuff - Lily Allen, Katy B, MIA (really shit), Tine Tempah etc. Other criteria is near nice beach and hot and sunny - any suggestions anyone???

  15. James have been shafted, why not give them a headline set on the 2nd stage rather than a patronising hour opening the main stage. The Klaxons on after? really???

    James 8pm

    Klaxons 9:45pm

    Ellie Goulding 11:30

    Tinnie Tempah 1:15

    Chase and Status 3pm

I didn't think they could fuck this festival up anymore than they have already but clearly was wrong. James could quite easily headline the Thursday, putting them on at 8 oclock is just stupid. And don't get me started on the Nutini vs Courteneers clash - dickheads.
  16. No drinks or bottles at all. They make a load of money selling water and beer inside the arena

Not so. I took a full water bottle in last year (for my wife). They just take the cap off you. I then 'smuggled' a spare cap in in my pocket (I know - rebellious).
  17. anyone going alone ?

    I'm guessing you??

You could try the FIB Facebook page too if you haven't already.

Just to reassure you though, if no-one answers on here, there are plenty of single folks going usually, and even if there aren't you everyone is so friendly you will pick up groups to talk to from when you set off (probably), and if not then defo in the train station in Barcelona (cause the trains are always delayed and there is nothing else to do but chat to other folks!)

  18. Oh and no one say go see James if I don't wanna see him, just watched a link on the FIB facebook page and they look like a bunch of 50-something blokes hanging onto their youth dressing in clothes from Burtons.

you say that like it's a bad thing!

  19. Was a joke. Guessing you weren't around all those months ago when this was discussed, although I'm probably the only one on here who remembers this.

    Haha!

I was, I just must have missed that particular gem. There has been rather a lot of shit in this forum over the months. And I think a 20 minute TT slot is still 20 minutes too long.

  20. To most people, myself included they have "sit down" "shes a star" and the American Pie one.

Check out Sound, Laid and Sometimes if you really want a flavour of James and their live show. Seen them about 4 times in as many years - awesome. Not overly impressed with the latest album (a bit smaltzy), but the other recent one 'The Night Before' has some decent enough stuff on it.

But don't take my work for this (after all I'm not a great fan of The Beatles - and let's not start that particular debate again), check out YouTube.
