Just booked our hotel, 10 minute drive from the festival and the same from the airport. Nothing nearby to us except a shopping centre but the hotel run a free shuttle into the city so we'll be making full use of that
Have you booked hotel Nuevo by any chance? Sounds exactly where we are

Some arsehole literally barged into me with one hand aloft during dead kennedys at the truth stage. There was loads of room for him to walk around me but chose to walk right into me. I did shout at him and called him some things I don't wish to repeat on here. Thing is i would have swung for him if I had got the chance and I've never felt like doing that at glasto

One of the surprises for me were the Moonlandingz. What a visual performance from the band and Johnny Rocket in particular. Came on stage with his head wrapped in clingfilm, and usual red paint all over, was sick as he started, but delivered a mesmerising performance, supported by an excellent band.
Their set doesn't to have been mentioned much on here, did anyone else catch them?
Yep I did and thought the same. Better than fat whites tbh and musically excellent especially the blond girl on vocals, amazing voice

Stopping in Salisbury Tuesday and going to Stonehenge for the solstice. Going to be knackered Wednesday but it's something on my bucket list to do.

Erm, pretty sure this time last year we were all revelling in the fact the ground was dry and the forecasts were only showing a few showers here and there for the following weeks. And then....
I'm looking at next weeks forecast and its going to be hot until early next week - we had massive floods around that time last year
you've got sauerkraut in your lederhosen (sorry couldn't resist)

Already there's a huge difference between this year and last years in that the site wont be already knackered before we get there

Many thanks for the depeche mode tribute link - love that band.
Thought speak and spell was some kind of a Steven Hawkins piss take at first glance
Also frank sanatzi is very funny too

Yep 2014 was that annoying year. It was only because of the baking weather leading up to it it didn't become a mud bath. But it was close!

The f5 key on my laptop has been broken since 2013 (the only key on the friggin laptop that doesn't) so I've just been manually refreshing with the mouse, one click 1/2seconds and it's worked every time. I think like people have already pointed out that as long as you wait until the next page has loaded there's no panic as to how many times you refresh. And besides how does the server differentiate between multi hit software and quick f5 fingers?
By the way does anyone else think it gets to the stage where its trying to connect you because you can see it's taking about 10 seconds in between refreshing, like you almost feel it trying for you? It doesn't always connect but you know that you are damn close!

This is what I feared. I might just either pre book a nat express coach or get a shuttle bus to bristol. Thanks for info

Any idea what the queue is like for shuttle buses to castle Cary on the Monday morning around 6am? I've a train from Bristol at 9.30 am but would rather set off when it's relatively early to make sure I make the 9.30 train
cheers for any info

My first experience of mud at Glastonbury (after the glorious years of 92 94 and 95) and my least favourite glasto by a country mile
I remember the traffic was horrendous on the Thursday and took us nearly 8 hours to get in and had to pitch in the dark. The mud was that bad you were sinking where you were stood.
We ended up in a beer tent near the campsite (think it's called Michaels mead now) and a girl was freaking out on a bad acid trip. I seriously wanted to go home at this point, the atmosphere was awful. I think I only watched a handful of bands over the weekend. Surprising highlight was Steve Harley & the cockney rebel in the accoustic tent
One of the lads who was with us wanted to go home Saturday morning so we took him to castle Cary and called in a pub on the way back and stayed in there for hours playing pool, drinking nice beer and putting good tunes on the duke box....and keeping warm.
I love Glastonbury but truly hated it that year and left Sunday afternoon, which I had never done before and ever done since. 2016 was a doddle compared to 97!

I'm not a muse fan and I was going to watch underworld if I got bored but I really enjoyed them. Trouble is at Glastonbury you can't be two places at once unfortunately but I always stick by a rule that if I'm enjoying myself watching any band on any stage I'll stick by it

I convinced myself I wasn't ever going back to Glastonbury after the horrendous mud in 97,on top of the ball ache that is getting time off work and getting tickets. But watching blur close in 2009 on telly I sent a text to my mate and said that I really wanted to go back. He wholeheartedly agreed with me. We're still going now and have tickets for next year. And we now have a gang. All is good.

Spent a lot of time at the spike area after dark this year underneath the glitter ball because it wasn't overly packed and it was away from the mud. Met some great people as well. And also more time up at the park area, loved that real ale bar right at the very top not far from the glasto sign.
I think when it's muddy I tend to find somewhere and stay there rather than wander round. Yes enjoyed it very much, but because of the mud I wouldn't say it was my favourite year because I missed loads of stuff I wanted to see, couldn't be arsed!

No luck for Sheffield but I did turn down some restricted view tickets up in the balcony gods, not at those prices.
Ironically I was asked to tick a box that said that I was not a robot. This did make me chuckle

Did you get one with a backdoor link posted on here like?
Yep quite a few people post links but it's not really a backdoor link as such,it's just the holding page that counts down from 20 seconds. That page alone can be tricky enough to get onto, once you onto the holding page it's up to the F5 gods !!
-
I agree but it's the page you need to see if you've any chance of a ticket. If it wasn't for the good folk on here posting links to that page I genuinely don't think I'd have a cat in hells chance of ever getting tickets. So thank you all!

No one has mentioned dancing in the moonlight by toploader. That song needs wiping from history. I hate that song with a passion, especially the organ solo in the middle. It's on the radio all the time,Achilles heel wasn't a bad song but you never hear it.

People who put down picnic blankets are just selfish b******ds who are out to 'claim' their piece of land. There should be an area near the top for people who want to do this. Shepton mallet should be far enough.

It's really a business hotel but has more positive than negative comments although think shuttle buses only run weekends. We haven't got breakfast included because with the late nights it was just a waste of cash and there are cafes and bars at the shopping centre. Think nearest metro and railway stations are about 15 minutes away but apparently there's a bus stop not far and cheapest option
Its ideal for us because if we have to walk back after festival it's do-able but about an hour! (Hopefully we can get a taxi after but got no idea how long that's going to take) We're also going to do the Real Madrid tour which isn't that far from hotel
