  1. I saw every single person being patted down and having everything checked, bags, coats, purses, bum bags etc for both entrances.

Certainly not the walk through im used to, the queues were quite big to get between reggae roots and the rest on thursday because of it

It did ease a bit the rest of the weekend but certainly not the same as previous years. Bizarre if im the only one to notice

  2. Although initally I didnt think the lineup was as strong as say 2011 the quality of the music was brilliant and the only exception for me would be Outkast who seemed a bit limp

Darkside were fantastic, one of the best live performances I have seen in a long time

Also enjoyed Indiana, MØ, Caribou (although a tad drunk), Sohn, Disclosure, Beck, Chvrches plus some more of the pop stuff that my gf dragged me along to which turned out to be surprisingly fun

Overall a very good Bestival for me and cant see me not going again next year (although it still will be lineup dependant)

Only gripe would be the security, seemed way more ott this year. Nobody seems to have mentioned that yet but i can remember last year openly walking through with a guardian bag full the brim with beers on multiple occasions. Not so easy this time around, the Thursday was especially bad with people having the queue to get past as each person was checked and patted down

  3. Yeah Janelle Monae is a realistic option. Seeing as she performed with Outkast at Coachella you would expect her at Bestival too.

Although it would be a bit like Diplo being announced as an additional stage headliner. Doesnt really feel like it should count seeing as he is already there as Major Lazer

  4. Kasabian? I think thats a really weak headliner booking personally.

I went along with a friend to see them in 09 at a 2500 capacity venue in Nottingham. I thought back then that they were at the height of their fame and cant remember them doing much of worth since. Or have I just been under a rock for the past 5 years?

Overall I think the lineup is quite uninspiring

  5. SURELY Moderat aren't Big Top headlining size, but I can see them getting a similar spot to Squarepusher last year (ie after the Big Top headliner).

But what I really want to know is... why do you think Portishead wouldn't fit that slot? I think they'd be perfect for it.

Its mainly the contrast of running from the mainstage after dancing to Hey ya to crying in the big top listening to Roads. I would have stuck them on the Sunday personally

I think they would be the biggest big top headliner so far if it is them. Sticking them in a tent at the expense of Foals/Chic doesn't make sense to me. They headlined the other stage only last year and are in the process of making a new album plus headlining multiple festivals this year.

Maybe im just being pessimistic but im trying not to get my hopes up, Its just my opinion so hopefully im wrong.

  6. "Our new festival license for 79,999 people is in place to cope with the demands of our huge creative and site build teams, as well as the vast number of artists and crews that perform at the festival. We are still only selling 55,000 tickets for festival-goers. No other shows of this size have so many stages and artists, so the capacity increase allows us to keep growing the entertainment at the festival year on year while keeping the festival's boutique ethos." Bestival Directors

  7. Im putting money on it being Nick Cave.

I noticed on twitter a few weeks back that Bestival was following Nick Cave but they dont seem to be now.

Im unaware of them playing bestival before and seeing as Bestival usually just follow bands that have played/going to play then maybe this confirms it.

Like i said they dont seem to be following Nick Cave now, maybe they thought somebody would spot it and twig on? Or maybe im just talking rubbish who knows

  8. PMSL  .... here are Daft punk's touring plans, and I guarantee their accuracy at this time.

None. None at all. Nothing. Zilch.

You can choose to not believe me, but I knew that Daft Punk's new album would be released in May and I knew they'd just signed to Sony before either was announced.

And I also know that they've no plans to think about touring until after the new album is released, because they want to see how it's received first - because it's radically different for Daft Punk, with no use of computers.

So the very earliest they might - just might - start to schedule tour dates will be May, and those dates won't happen until Oct/Nov at earliest, because they'll have to put a band together, have the band learn the songs, and then rehearse for that tour.

They won't play any fests this summer.

Howe many times do I have to repeat this before someone listens? I'd said they weren't touring this summer from long before RdB said anything too, and everyone ignored that as well.
