  1. Couple who must have both been 70 if they were a day, strolling down the path. He was closely examining his guardian guide:

Old Lady: (strong welsh accent) What we going to see now then love?

Old Man: Well, I'm not too sure really, Tinie Tempah is on the pyramid in a bit...

Old Lady: Well, let's shift our arses then, I f*cking love a bit of Tinie, me.

I think it was the combination of age and welshness that made this such a glorious moment :D

  2. My reputation on here is in minus figures... haha.. because efestival and Glastonbury punters are cocks.. discuss!

... what is the point in having a forum if everbody had the same opinion?

Glastonbury is rubbish... at least I'm honest!

  3. In 2008 my then 9 year old daughter was obsessed with a hat which was being sold on a lot of the stalls - a sort of long, tall, pointy brown witches hat. But they were at least £15, so we had to say no. On the friday night we were in Jazzworld, and daughter was dancing like a loon in a puddle, dressed as an elf...a group of teenagers approached, and one the girls suddenly started running towards my daughter - when she got to her she whipped off her long tall pointy hat and plonked onto my Daughter's head, saying 'You are the prettiest elf I have ever seen, you just need this hat to be perfect' and then they ran off :D

My daughter still talks about this as one of the nicest things that has ever happened to her, and the hat still has pride of place in her bedroom, and returns to Glastonbury every year!

So, if you were the lovely hat-giver...thank you! :D

  4. Right, I still can't work out how to quote in a post  so I'll go through bit by bit...

First, Matt, don't feel inadequate...our cart looked v different 3 years ago, and the rainwear consisted of black bin bags...it's an evolving project!

To those who have asked: It was always a wooden garden cart - bought from Axminster about 5 years ago. We took off and replaced all the original wooden and side panels (kept these as between festivals it reverts to carrying garden rubbish!)

The canopy is supported by cut tesco value hula hoops :P

The canopy itself is heavy duty treated canvas. The whole canopy can be lifted off the wagon, which is handy as it's actually quite tall when all put together!

I can't claim much of the credit though - my husband did most of the work, with me and the kids telling him what we wanted, designing and decorating.

Thank you all for saying nice things about it :D

    Oooh, love this thread...

This is our glasto wagon...was originally a garden cart, but gets bits added to it every year! Now has a built in cool box, decent solar fairy lights, rear led's, detachable sun/r-word shade, sit on front for bigger kid and storage compartment underneath for camping stools!

The kids absolutely love adding bits to it each year, and lots of people stop us to ask where we got it...had a long conversation with a woman in the kidz field about the viability of setting up a rental business!! (After much cider and an hour or two we agreed that it's not viable  )

Just need to find a way of keeping worse for wear adults from trying to climb into it for a kip  A sharp cry of 'oi, there's a baby in there' normally works ok though lol!

  6. There is limited, expensive choice!

It's mainly Camels that are sold on site - was told last year that there are no Marlboro for sale on the whole site for ethical reasons...not quite sure that any tobacco company is particularly ethical, but there you go!

In short - take all you will need with you. And then take loads more, just in case!

  7. Dorset Smokery - amazing smoked salmon wraps with homemade lemon mayo. mmmm. bit pricey but very gorgeous! My daughter had one every single day last year (which would have bankrupted me, but she asked for a child's portion and was given an adult sized wrap for half price!)

And a giant manic-organic brekkie on the monday. It's important to have something to look forward to on monday!

  8. The town that I grew up in had a road called 'Slutshole Lane'

Last I heard the residents of Sluts hole had started a petition to get the name changed, but as everyone else thought the name was hilarious, and there were only about 10 houses on the lane, I suspect they were never succesful!!

  9. we have one at primary school, and one just started at secondary school. We have taken them for the last 3 years. I am always honest when I fill out the form (can't imagine them not spilling the beans when they get back to school anyway!) Have always been given permission from both schools, no probs :) I think it really helps if their attendance is really good for the rest of the year. Our form from the primary school often comes back marked 'permission granted: have a great time!!' :D

  10. Just had a paranoid double-check on the See ticket tracker, and it seems my whole order has been doubled

I now seem to have 8 tickets, 2 car park tickets and 2 campervan tickets - I ordered half of this! The total suggests I am being charged for the doubled amounts :O

Paid the balance online this morning, but had to book the campervan over the phone, as I hit the sold out glitch - have confirmation email for everything except campervan. Funds don't seem to have gone out yet - and I'm getting very paranoid that they will cancel the whole lot...

  11. Another tip is that the vast majority of food places will happily do you a smaller/cheaper kids portion - but you have to ask, none of them seem to advertise it! My 11 year old always asks, and still nearly always gets! So you can get a meal for £3 rather than £7 - and the portions are never really that much smaller!

  12. My kids, aged 11 and 8 are glasto veterans, and one of the things they look forward to the most is the food! They are well up for trying new things - they are both already talking about Le Grande Bouffe and Goan Fish curries...

But this year my brother and his family are joining us - they are glastonbury virgins. Their little lad will be 18 months, and I'm not so sure about food for him. We don't really want to be cooking, beyond brekkie. So can we get decent, but very plain food anywhere? Fresh veg (that isn't in a curry!) stuff like that? We'll bring/buy fruit, it's more 'meals' that I'm unsure of. Any toddler grub recomendations?

  13. [Age, condition, price? Picture?

    ]

It's taken me all week to figure out how to post pics so I could reply!! Still not sure it's gonna work, but...

    Age - 1994 (M reg)

Condition - good for age, all mod cons, still have original flowery curtains too!

Price - as close to £9000 as poss

  14. lots of supermarkets do really good pouches of food - things like 3 bean stew, and fireside chilli - these are perfect for glasto - much lighter to carry than tins, you don't end up with dirty pans (you just chuck the sealed poch into a pan of boiling water) you can eat the grub straight out of the pouch, so no washing up bowls or plates. Oh, and they are actually tasty! Sainsbury and Tesco both do them - you often need to look in the allergy/free from section. And they don't need to be kept cold. Perfect!

  15. This is my first post, though I have been lurking about for a considerable amount of time!

This year will be my 4th Glasto with the kids, and up to now we have always had a campervan - which has been perfect for us. However, we are now thinking about selling the trusty camper, and getting a trailer tent. So, I have a few questions if anyone can help?

    - Do trailer tents get to park in the same fields as camper vans - don't remember ever seeing any? We are normally in the the family campervan field, which is perfect for ped gate c - would we be put miles further away in a trailer tent?

    - If there is 'early entry' again on tuesday, how would that work? Do you have to drop trailer off, then go and park car in car park? Would they then let you walk back, or is it then a night in the car?

    - Has anyone got a trailer tent? Are they as good as they seem to be?!

    Cheers
