  1. i noticed people mention major lazer a while back.

could be them with loads of guests, and diplo playing on the wednesday?

doubt it though, seems like the guest is quite well known, diplo isn't really

  2. im surprised there is still demand to see chase & status.

as far as im aware they haven't released anything since around 2010 and have played at pretty much every festival apart from bestival since them.

    really hope it isn't them.

  3. Fair play to you. I put (discuss) in the topic title to try and get across I was playing devil's advocate a little. To make it clear again, I don't actually think anyone should be banned, that's a ridiculous idea. Speaking as a huge Beatles fan (and I'm only 33) I'm biased and couldn't believe that this person hasn't heard anything by them. But some good points have been made. And some very funny ones.

  4. if im being honest, im pretty much unfamiliar with all of the beatles material. I could maybe recall a few songs off the top of my head purely from reading about it and hearing it when out or something, but unless i was to hear the chorus, i would probably not be able to recognise them. I couldn't name any of their albums or anything

This is purely because I am not into guitar music, and never really have been. I choose to listen to various types of electronic music (not skrillex or chase & status). Although I believe my parents did like bands such as the beatles when they were younger, they do not listen to guitar music anymore, so I never had any influence from my parents to listen to them at a young age, and instead discovered my own taste in music by myself, which happened to be in the form of electronic.

I have attended a fair few festivals for someone of my age (19), ranging from reading to sonar festival, and know the 'social rules' of festivals and how to behave. If i was to go to glastonbury, which i plan on doing next year, i will go simply for the dance/electronic aspect of the festival. so why should i not be able to be allowed in because I haven't got any knowledge on a band which won't even be there. Why should i be asked a question on a type of music that i have no interest in. If it was a festival like HRC(which ive been to) then maybe it is a bit more understanding, but glastonbury has too much variance.

Maybe the kind of people you had in mind whilst making this thread are the kind of people who jump on the whole festival bandwagon, and are only going just to say they've been there, and are not proper music fans, but not everyone who is unfamiliar with the beatles are like that.

I rarely post on here, and am not too sure about that this forums personality is like, but please no stupid comments about what i've just written. Just simply providing an alternate view to the threadmakers. It's my personal music taste and i'm pretty content with it.

  5. well i have worked at field day and attended lovebox on the friday this year, which are both at victoria park.

on both days the music finished at 11. I found the curfew was really strict, especially at lovebox, where 2 different acts on different stages were forced to end their sets at exactly 11pm, which caused quite a bit of controversy

  6. quite disappointed to see deadmau5 is playing really early on in the day. I would've expected him to sub the tent, or at least get a night time slot for full effects of his lightshow. hoping he at least gets a crowd he deserves.

have a feeling dizzee rascal will play third on the saturday. cant really think of anyone else who will fit the bill.

  7. in no order.

white lies- HMV forum, London,2010. it was free so I couldnt really complain, Although if i got offered to see them again I would probably turn it down. but i found them to be so dull. didn't know much of their music as well so that didn't help.

Glasvegas- Roundhouse, London, 2011. Went with a mate who had a spare ticket, but lead singer came across as a right bellend, forgot the words several times and the crowd was full of lad-ish dickheads.

The Drums-Reading 2010, really big fan of the drums and wasnt expecting much but was really dissapointed. lead singer seemed to focus more on his awful dancing than his vocals. and he kept changing his tone of voice whilst singing which was cringey.

Metro Station, Malta 2008- They played at some isle of mtv one day festival, but came across as a wannabe blink and kept making terrible jokes. their music is w*nk as well

  8. is there any way i can get 4day combi tickets/xl camping other than waiting list?

do people sell them on ebay etc.?

may seem a stupid question, but i just want to make sure that there isn't no id requirements with the ticket or something.

really want to go but haven't got the money to pay for it any time soon :(

  10. anyone else think that the dance tent is really underwhelming?

in the 2 years i've been some of the best moments i've had have been from the dance tent, but looking at it this year i think its really poor.

i quite like metronomy, but this is the 3rd year they've played in a row, and they played in 2008. so its pretty uninspiring.

just gave that azelia banks a quick listen, i always see nme raving on about her, played the first song that came up on youtube, only to find out its about giving a girl oral sex. no thanks. i wouldn't mind if she played a similar slot to chiddy bang in '10, but by the looks of it she'll play quite high up. i dont understand why they'd book her there, especially as she isn't really dance music.

katy B i have no real issue with. not really my thing but i suppose she fits the bill.

comparing it to the past 2 years, where they've had acts such as magnetic man, simian mobile disco, sbtrk, rusko, nero, subfocus etc, who are all major acts in the dance industry these days, it looks so poor. I was aware that there isn't that many acts suited for r/l's dance demographic that havent played recently, but surely people like flux pavilion, knife party, 2 bears, or even miike snow would be much better bookings.

    poor overall lineup imo.

  11. most people here are saying that the vast majority of the young r/l crowd will be in the nme tent. not sure if that will be the case, i'd probably fall into that category of the young reading crowd and i know a lot of people who like the cure. in fact i've just searched the cure's facebook page and 43 of my friends 'like' the page. I'm not saying the cure will be popular with many of the younger crowd, but i dont think its as a niche booking as people on here are making it out to be. not all the young reading crowd are the type who wear them leavers hoodies and snapbacks and wear sunglasses at night, some of us have good taste in music :P

  12. anyone reckon deadmau5 could be in with a shot of headlining the tent one night? he's pretty massive these days and he played in 2009 so hes not unfamiliar to the festival and wouldn't really look at out place, maybe something similar to 2manydjs last year

wishful thinking more than anything though tbh

  13. i reckon modestep and knife party are strong possibilities. skrillex as well, but as mentioned he might be too big.

the 2 bears could also play, same with rusko, he's got a new album coming out in march or so.

maybe flux pavilion as well, he was supposed to play last year or something but didnt in the end.

i think m83 will play in the nme tent, i always see nme banging on about them.

miike snow have a new album as well and they were supposed to play in 2010 but pulled out, they're a possibility as well imo.

  14. don't think im going to go next year, creamfields looks like the place for me next year, i feel like a change in genre. i've seen pretty much all the bands i've wanted to see now. Plus the headliners which are predicted for next year(yes i know theyre only predictions) really do not interest me and i very much doubt there will be any bands on there which will really want me to get a ticket
