  1. Has anyone hired a car before? Thinking of doing it as it's not much more than the airport transfers, and it helps with shop runs etc. Is Spain a bad place to drive?

Yes I have driven twice before from Barcelona. It is very handy for stocking up on the way but I would recommend sharing the driving as the journey back to the airport after the festival is a killer trying to stay awake!

  2. My group has a bit of a dilemma. We have 6 staying in the campervan field (4 travelling in a bongo & 2 travelling in a seperate car) we have only just realised that the car park doesn't open until 9 meaning the 2 in the car would have a long wait if the others go in at 12.

I have also phoned the Glastonbury office & been told that the official rule is that you aren't allowed to enter the CV field from the car park until the Weds morning. So my question is has anybody ever parked in a nearby village & got a taxi to the festival or does anybody know of a good place to park a couple of miles out? My friend has 6 seats in his bongo but 2 have no seatbelt so we could just jump in when they are queuing up!

    Thanks

  3. Ok i'll bear that in mind, thanks.

My group has come up with the idea of the 2 arriving in the car parking in a nearby village & then getting a taxi to the CV field so that we can all arrive earlier on the tuesday together.

Anyone done anything like this before or know a good place to park a car thats not too far away & reasonably safe? Seems like a hassle but its probably our best option rather than risk having 2 of our group staying in the car park all night.

  4. I phoned the glastonbury office & the official rule is that you can't leave the car park until 8am when the festival opens on the weds.

The lady did say we could risk it & tell the group in the campervan to let security know that we're arriving late which makes me think they will let people in the CV field before weds from the car park. I suppose you just risk spending a night in the car.

  5. Ok I thought that would be the case with cars parking in the CV field.

I've been told on another thread on here that you can email & get permission to enter the CV fields from the car park on tuesday night so i'm just waiting to hear back.

2 weeks from now I'll be wondering why I was worrying so much haha!

  6. Does anyone know if you can park 1 car next to a camper van? We've got an extra couple who want to pitch up next to us (so we'll have a bongo, 1 tent & a car). The reason I ask is the car park doesn't open until 9 on the tues so they've either got to turn up later but we'd rather all travel down together as it's quite a long drive.

Any advice would be helpful, may sound like a silly question but is there anywhere in walking distance where they could park & then move again at 9 when it opens?

  7. I too am staying in cv fields & it's my first Glastonbury, I have heard there are queues when you go into the festival each day?

& do you also get a wristband or do we have to keep the paper ticket the whole time?

  8. It seems to depend on the stewards at the time of setting up, those who patrol the fields afterwards and the fire officers as well as where your setup is in the field itself.

Some stewards are more relaxed than others. Sometimes people are made to take down whole groups of tents after another steward has let them set up okay. If you're in a corner of a field or over by the edges then stewards tend to be a bit more relaxed about how many tents you may have.

    From the official site:

Notice that the question only refers to a single tent. Some people get away with more than one most years, some don't.

Also, from the same site on awnings:

Note: Many people still choose to sleep in their awnings and I'm not aware of any particular security checks in that regard.
