When more get announced please do post them in here, particularly for the big acts at obscure Euro festies. I've tried to stick closely to relevant acts to R+L and from start of August to mid September, but I'm flexible on both those I guess.   7. Whilst I agree in theory, I think there's plenty of bands in the pool, Sonisphere has already started the trend of bumping up younger talent in order to increase the headliners pool for future years. I think Download and Reading will do the same next year.

    If you asked me in 2008 whether Download would fall soon, I would have said most definitely. Now, I think we will lose some festivals in the next couple of years, but I don't think it will be Download or Sonisphere. I think festivals which take place at Hyde Park/ Victoria Park are at biggest risk such as Hard Rock Calling and High Voltage.

    As to your other point about comparing Europe's largest touring festival with a festival which didn't work first time around and another which is already dead in the water. Sonisphere can't be compared to Phoenix/ Hop Farm, as they are at completely different stages and in different league's.

    BBC Three comes live from Reading 2012 as Fearne Cotton, Greg James and Jen Long introduce the biggest sets of the weekend, including performances from headliners The Cure, Foo Fighters and Kasabian.

    BBC Two will also show highlights of the whole weekend on Friday 31st August at 11.50pm.

    Radio 1

    Radio 1 brings you live music, interviews and latest news throughout the weekend.

    Friday 24 August – 1pm: Huw Stephens live from Reading with guests including You Me At Six, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Maccabees and Foster The People plus a special guest performance.

    Saturday 25 August – 1pm: Huw Stephens live from Reading with guests including The Vaccines, Enter Shikari, Twin Atlantic, Katy B and Young Guns plus a special guest performance.

    Sunday 26 August - 1pm: Huw Stephens live from Reading with guests including Pulled Apart By Horses, The Joy Formidable, All Time Low and King Charles plus a special guest performance.

    Sunday 26 August - 12pm: BBC Introducing with Jen and Ally keep you up to date with all the goings on from the BBC Introducing stage.

    Monday 27th August - 12pm: The Rock Show with Dan P Carter brings you rock direct from Reading + Leeds.

    Tuesday 28th August - 7pm: Huw Stephens in for Zane Lowe with the very best from the fest.

    Tuesday 28th August - 9pm: The Review Show with Edith Bowman asks for your opinions on all the action from Reading + Leeds.

    Tuesday 28th August - 12pm: Mike Davies returns with the Punk Show to catch you up on all you may have missed.

    Red Button

    Coverage on Red Button starts on Friday 24th Aug at 7pm and will feature sets from Foster The People, The Maccabees, Graham Coxon and many more. We return at 7pm (9.30pm on Freeview) on Saturday 25th Aug, including Kasabian, Florence + the Machine and The Cribs.

    Sunday starts earlier at 4pm, featuring Foo Fighters, The Horrors and sets from the entire weekend.

    Viewers on Sky, Virgin and Freesat will have a choice of bands from the Main Stage and the Radio 1 / NME stage using the Red Button multiscreen. Viewers on Freeview will be able to see a different band about every half hour on Red Button and channel 301. We’ll also be bringing you a selection of tracks from up and coming new bands on the BBC Introducing stage.

    From Monday 27th to Friday 31st, catch a different ‘best band’ each and every day (availability varies on Freeview).
