Because this place needs more threads, I just thought I'd set up one of these so we can keep track through the announcement-heavy months. When more get announced please do post them in here, particularly for the big acts at obscure Euro festies. I've tried to stick closely to relevant acts to R+L and from start of August to mid September, but I'm flexible on both those I guess. Whilst I agree in theory, I think there's plenty of bands in the pool, Sonisphere has already started the trend of bumping up younger talent in order to increase the headliners pool for future years. I think Download and Reading will do the same next year.
trend. they chucked mr clyro on once they were stuck for headliners who went straight back to nion headlining or r you stupid and count every band to haeadlining soni as a new headliner?
If you asked me in 2008 whether Download would fall soon, I would have said most definitely. Now, I think we will lose some festivals in the next couple of years, but I don't think it will be Download or Sonisphere. I think festivals which take place at Hyde Park/ Victoria Park are at biggest risk such as Hard Rock Calling and High Voltage.
As to your other point about comparing Europe's largest touring festival with a festival which didn't work first time around and another which is already dead in the water. Sonisphere can't be compared to Phoenix/ Hop Farm, as they are at completely different stages and in different league's.
