Hard to pick headliners you would think avenged sevenfold will be up there as they have a number 1 album
Foo fighters and pearl jam are more reading/Leeds I think
So usual suspects come out Tool have a new cd due but are they big enough?
Metallica always get a shout but they only headlined last year?

I hope and hope a little more that 'Scorpions' get added between 'Slash' and 'Nightwish' on Friday night that is the only time i can see them fitting in that would make sence.
Surley A.C has tried to book them as this is the last chance to catch em.

Judas priest announce a london show (only uk) a week or so before download and its not even a major venue(in size)

At last we can confirm that Van Halen wont be at download they have just anounced 2012 plans for album and tour and all gigs are north america inc dates on june 5th and june 12th
I realy cant see them getting on a plane to come to uk for 1 show and back home to continue a tour
Not like they where ever huge in the uk anyway.
Soundgarden anounce new cd ready to go but i think they will headline sonisphere.
Good news about stone sour it sounds like corey is VERY keen on going to Download as they will have a new cd out and its his favourite festival in the whole dam world

Do we think the return of Classic rock sunday will return in 2012 ?

I would include
Lynyrd Skynyrd (as they are on tour in the uk same week as download) ?
Scorpions (as a final goodbye to uk fans) ?
Motley Crue are at other euro festivals next year ?
Cinderella would be a good early band to kick things off
Cheap Trick were great last year but 2 years in a row (they are not Def Leppard)
But who else could be added ??

very soon you will receive a little bundle of sexyness from the postman. In it will be your "RIP passport", which is exactly that, a passport sized book with your ticket number printed on the front. Inside will be a site map, loads of info, vouchers for your goodie bag etc. I posted a pic of mine last year, I'll edit with a link later. you will arrive at donington, and go past the main entrance along to Park Farm, where you will approach the gate of the campsite and be greeted by some lovely ladies who will check your tickets, band you up, give you your goodie bag and explain the layout of the site, and the do's and dont's. you will then have the gate opened for you and let in. you can park and camp wherever the feck you like (within reason) and you can also have pretty much as much space as you like.

We are heading to Download this year and we have purchased rip tickets
Does anyone know how the tickets work ? I havn't recieved any details as yet and wondering if anyone who has done RIP before how did it work in previous years ?

If i had £100 and you could get evens at a bookies i would put my grand on The Darkness as sub on the Friday
Tom Russell on Rock radio Scotland had mentioned that The Darkness were very strongly roumoured and Tom usualy know what is going on behind the scenes
Anyway The Darkness i reacon would life spirits they may be shabba but ye get a laugh..

I was tempted, but I think we are still gonna go. RIP is f**king awesome, and the undercard still has some great bands on. Even if I was selling mine, I wouldnt be selling at anything other than face value. If you are considering it, be very careful. The checks on the gate at RIP are quite thorough, if they suspect it isnt your ticket - they dont have to let you in.

why are thin lizzy so low on the bill??
it looks like they are going to be playing 5th or 6th from the top of the bill on fri main stage(they are in small print on the poster too)
theyve just completed a 18 date sold out uk tour in decent sized venues(pretty impressive when you consider that most bands seem to think that a few dates in london manchester and birmingham is a full uk tour)
i know its (obviously) not the full line up but it seems they still have the pulling power.
p.s. on a separate note,is vivian cambell playing with lizzy and leppard on the same day??

^^nah i dont reckon Van Halen pulled out on him, i think Van halen are the band he's already booked for 2012. But he must of got an awful lota snubs to book Def leppard again. Very poor booking. But tbh Sonisphere looks pretty poor also, so the headliners arnt really about this year. So no Download for me this year. 1 okay headliner in SOAD and 2 poor ones so Nova Rock it is!

I recon he had 'Van Halen' in the bag but Van Halen being the new Guns n Roses have decided to pull out because they are so far behind on the new music.
Ye i suppose it is a bit of a panic to re-book Def Leppard but by this time of the year most festivals have their headliners sorted out and loads of them are exclusives to festivals ?
At least its not The Darkness or My Chemical Romance headlining that would have been poor.
oh and for f**k sake it was never going to be Led Zepplin that's just mad.
Also it's only the Headline act for one night im sure people will have a choice for Friday
I still think the undercard for the weekend is looking better than sonisphere
A few decent names tonight and smiles will come back to a few faces.
