  1. The more thought I've put into this rumour the more unlikely it can happen.

Festival medical set up a huge operation at Glastonbury and Reading could this infrastructure turn around in very short time?

As stated here the festival relies on many land owners turning over their fields to us who in turn reduce them to dust/mud. The land will not recover to good pasture if a September festival were to happen.

There is a finite supply of 'festival' infrastructure big tops, metal road tracks, off site accommodation and god knows what else surely the the turn around would be prohibitive even when things run smoothly

  2. Just won a festival Pack consisting of.

The festival essentials pack will contain: a bum bag, a Trilby hat, a T-shirt, a bottle opener, a solar bank charger, sunglasses, a torch, a poncho, temporary tattoos, an aluminium water bottle and a 4-pack of Mallets Original.

and the cider isn't too bad either. Not as sweet as thatchers

You still go there? Dread to think what little extras you now get with your meat.

Yes. Still do go there it's a fantastic butchers to be fair just this one fella can be a little too acerbic to the customers so my retort was a little payback, especially after insinuating Glastonbury is full of knob heads which we all know there's only a few...... Rest of staff in there are really nice.

  4. Glastonbury is many things to many people. For me it resets my equilibrium. The shackles of everyday life are left somewhere on the M5 on the drive down.

My OH first came with me in '13 and 2 weeks before she said to me she wasn't going as people said it's muddy, toilets aren't the best, too crowded mostly from people who haven't been. OK I wasn't supportive as I said fine don't go, believe people who have only seen it on TV but reverse psychology worked and within 5 minutes of being there feeling the love of everyone around she asked when next year's tickets go on sale. This year will be her 5th.

This year my 7th is a massive one for me, having a hand fasting on the Wednesday and I have been incredibly lucky in being accepted as a volunteer for FMS. This is a festival that just keeps giving.

  5. My first Glastonbury 2009 I was going with my then girlfriend and 2 others. Hired campervan and was all set to go. Turned out she was a cheating @#$/$. So cancelled camper and came very close to cancelling ticket. But I bit the bullet and never looked back. Went alone and despite my fears it was a life changing experience. Went solo twice. Then in 2013 my GF sister and niece went. This year will be my 7th and my (now) Fiancées 5th. We got engaged at stone circle in Aug 15 having just bought a wooden mushroom off Sawdust Surfer. And this year we will be having a hand fasting there. I will also be fulfilling an ambition since my first Glastonbury and I will be working for Festival Medical Services as an event responder.

Yes I felt at time what's the point in going we'd planned it together but looking back going alone was arguably one of my best decisions. So don't listen to her. She has no right telling you you cannot go.

  6. Love the infusions that appear every year.

    In recent years I've made;

Rhubarb Vodka - lethal as fermented fhubarb and sugar before adding vodka.

    Weathers Vodka

    Mars Bar vodka

    Blackberry Vodka

Damson gin (absolutely gorgeous and will be lucky to have any if the 6 litres I made from last year's fruit harvest)

Wanting something different and rum based this year.

  7. Brasher have been taken over by berghaus.

You can still get supalites they just have a berghaus badge on them. They often have brasher stamped on inside of tongue.

I got a pair of Brasher a few years ago thanks to recommendations seen here and love them.

  8. fingers crossed we will be starting a new routine in 2017.

Been accepted as a member of Festival Medical Services so hoping I can get on to the Event Responder team and if i do our new (to us) caravan will be our lodgings. Failing that we will be trying for CV field tickets in resale having missed out on Thursday

  9. We can book exactly 12 months in advance so I set up email to go on stroke of midnight each day I want leave.

Luckily was successful again on Thursday day but that's my back up as hoping to be accepted to volunteer in June

  10. I was one of the lucky ones to secure a ticket last week but that is my back up as I have had my application to join FMS accepted so I am now part of the charity so to speak. I may be part of the charity but I have to apply to go to Glastonbury as well as lots of other festivals and events that they cover each year.
Thought it was about time to give something back to the festival as well as seeing it from a completely different perspective.
I am not a medical professional but just fortunate to be in a job that has trained me to a high enough level to qualify as an Event First Aid Responder.
My GF thinks I am bonkers for wanting to do it this way but at least she will get some peace from me whilst I will be working should I be lucky enough to get a place. Also my ticket will be going back into the pot come resale day.

  11.  Sat in the bread and roses on weds afternoon having a swift one on the way to meet friends and we sat by 4 fellas in their 40s in deep conversation. OH goes outside for a smoke so I started to listen to what they were saying.

One said that he'd just spoken to his daughter at home and had promised to take her to see Finding Dory on his return as a treat for being good for her grandparents. So for 5 minutes the fellas went into great detail how good animated films were. Fella who had spoken to daughter then said UP had to be his favourite due to the interaction between the main characters so another said well I liked cloudy with a chance of meatballs and it wasn't given the credit it deserved. To which UP man said nah that's bollox it's way too far fetched.

By this point I was crying.

In response he got "ok mate it might not be your thing but as for being far fetched how about a load of balloons floating off with some old guys house and a talking dog you've obviously done all your gear too soon if you believe that sh!t"

  12. Went solo for my first in 2009 due to relationship break up and up till the Tuesday I wasn't going. Always considered myself a person who needs company and the thought of going alone when you're not in a good place filled me with fear.

But after a restless sleep I thought sod it I'm doing this so packed up and set off at 5 am got there before lunchtime after 2nd 3rd 4th thoughts about it all on the drive down.

Once got set up went for a bimble to get my bearings and instantly fell in love with the farm and the people there. When it got a bit overwhelming I'd find a speck to sit and find calmness with many random strangers stopping to chat or just say hi soon put me at ease.

Over the weekend I had a few little wobbles and some teary moments but I had the most amazing experience of my life.

Went solo through choice again in 2010(loved it) missed out in 11 then in 13 introduced my OH to the festival and she loves it as much as I. Like me she had serious doubts before her first but after half an hour on the farm she asked about our plans for following year.

We love it so much I proposed to her at the stone circle in August last year so in June our Glastonbury friends are joining us for our engagement party at the circle on the Wednesday.

It's a cliché but it changes you and for the better in my opinion. I believe I now cope better with things and worry less because of my experiences there.

It's easy for people to say don't worry because you will. Just remember you will be surrounded by people full of the spirit of Glastonbury who won't judge and will help you as best they can.

  13. Heard from a good source that Oasis will be announcing tour dates within a week or so.

Would this put them in line to visit the farm?

    Would they headline?

Would they go for the money IOW offers?

That is of course if they do any festivals.

Saw the on their last tour and they weren't particularly good due to atmosphere between the Gallagher brothers.

  14. I've done TF a few times. OH insists as she likes her comforts. So we do it in style making it as comfortable as possible as it's our Holiday. We can eventually get on a few plane on a fallow year.

TF is only a couple hundred yards from ped gate B and been told it's closest off site camping. Nice chilled atmosphere on site and great views from top field.

No its not like being in the mix on site. Just depends what you want. Normally leave a bag of warm clothes/supplies in lock ups so no need to go back.

Showers get busy in morning. We always go at end of day. Pamper parlour looks good. Close car park is very convenient. We take all our dink with us so money we save by not buying drink on site offsets the cost. Already booked 2016 having been lucky to bag tickets again.
