  1. Hi guys

A few of us are definitely doing RW this year instead of Glasto, and as it'll be our first time at RW I'd really appreciate some tips. We've all been going to various UK & European festivals for years, so it'd be interesting to hear how RW compares in some of the areas I mention below from anyone who's been.

We are intending to take a tent and just book a Hive Myspace pitch. Whats the Hive area like generally, in terms of atmosphere, proximity to the stages, after hours entertainment, toilet/shower facilities (latter least important), access to food & alcohol etc.

I guess we won't be taking much in terms of our own food and booze, so what're the bars like - do they generally sell the spirits you'd expect, beer etc, or is it predominantly beer (a couple of my mates don't drink beer).

[EDIT] So if we wanted a beer for breakfast, is that easily obtainable if we don't take our own booze? Should we be taking our own booze?!

We're hoping to just take the Eurostar and then the festival bus, I assume it's generally a fairly simple trip, even with bags/tents/possibly camping chairs?

I'm guessing wellies should be taken?

Any insight would be much appreciated!

    Cheers

  2. I know this is asking a lot and requires a lots of trust, but I am going to Berlin next Thursday and am worried that if the GA resale is then I will miss it. Is anyone able to grab just one ticket for my gf if the resale happens on that day? I promise I can/will transfer you, don't mind paying a possible deposit for reassurance (or coming to some sort of agreement that is fair to both of us)

    Let me know please.

I'm heading to Berlin on the Friday!

I can help out though if you DM me your details

  3. Thanks for all that Stone, all ticked and checked, very grateful thanks. But when you say the pc needs to be on what about if my smart phone is always updating me with new emails. I'm guessing it should still work yea?

  4. Well it's certainly bad luck that you didn't get the page to load, but you're right that there could be a technical explanation that's not just 'See were busy'.

Your avenues of investigation are as follows:

    - confirm whether you can reach the holding page now, if not, try a different laptop/PC on your connection - if that works then investigate your PC for issues

    - if you can't get it to load from any device on your network, get someone to check out your network

    - if your network is all clear, contact your ISP tech support and explain the issue, you may not get a competent or honest answer

    - when the dust settles from the sale, contact See and ask if they were filtering any traffic...you may not get a competent or honest answer

    :)

  5. I find it a little odd that in the entire time I couldn't get to the holding page once, and not through lack of trying, yet loading it up on my phone's 3G or through a proxy instantly and without fail at every single attempt. That's not bad luck... Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is because See's done anything, could be my ISP or something else down the line, but it's certainly not just bad luck.

  6. My friends band are supporting Bloc Party on the 4th May. He doesn't know whether it is a secret gig or a reunion tour, all they know is the date and is that it is in Central London.

He could be pulling my leg, but I don't see why he would.

If it's true then I can see them playing L&R again.

  7. This is the first Reading I'll be missing in 5 years (mainly due to being a poor student rather than not enjoying the festival any more) and the Arcade Fire are the first rumoured act I'm actually jealous you guys will get to see. Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance do nothing for me but the Arcade Fire are one of the best bands on the planet and are actually making me regret my decision to blow my student loan on a Glastonbury ticket rather than a Reading one. I understand that they don't have a back catalogue full of massive hits like you expect from your headliners but they make such incredible music that you should be privileged that they are willing to perform at your festival after supposedly saying that they were done with British festivals a few years ago.

Just listen to Funeral properly, you will love it, it is in my opinion one of the best albums of the last decade. Neon Bible, despite not being quite as good as Funeral, is still brilliant. The third record will probably also be amazing (assuming it is released this year) and tracks from it will be the real highlights of the Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Quite sadly if they don't announce any other UK gigs to accompany these Reading and Leeds shows I'll probably end up one of those people paying over the top for tickets come August (assuming I get a job this summer).

This has turned into a rant, so I'm sorry, but please don't waste this opportunity like so many people seemed to last year with Radiohead, you’ll probably regret it eventually.

  8. I quite liked some of the songs off the first album, but ended up listening to 2nd and its much different and a lot better. I probably wouldn't have been bothered about seeing them this year but after listening to new album I definitely will.. Plus they're supporting Placebo in December so get to see them again.

  9. i ordered quite a few of my friends tickets tonight through several different orders as some of them couldn't get online. i've phoned to check confirmation even though i had the confirmation page after entering the details on each seperate order, but some of the orders are not on the system??

ive checked the tracker thing to see if a reference number exists for those that couldnt be confirmed on the phone and it didn't come up with anything.

can anyone think why this might be, especially since i did receive a confirmation page? could it be that the system is slow in updating or have some of them genuinely not got tickets after i told them it seemed to have worked?
