  1. does anyone else on here really find it hard to get into things when the sound isnt right?

i mean once you go past the mixing desk it can be quite hard to appreciate the sound as much but there were times at the weekend when even in the vicinity of the mixing desk i thought the sound was pretty lame

foals at the other stage on friday night was pretty low...........though to be fair by the xx on sunday it was absolutely spot on

the sound for chic didnt travel so well beyond the mixing desk where we were

i found that the sound in shang ri la at hell and especially genesis was perfect for the DJs there but

now, i had the best year so far out of the 5 that ive been to but mainly cos we all had an amazing time regardless

the pyramid had great sound throughout, possibly due to the speakers stands halfway up the field but i just wish that festival organisers would put more effort into nailing the sound prior to the acts coming on.

it can really make a major difference to people who are dancing and singing along

  2. @karlpowell - where did you hear that the bags had been recovered? i had 2 friends who were robbed on thursday night in the dairy ground. if bags had been recovered i want to let them know but obviously dont wanna pointlessly get their hopes up. cheers

  3. @morland...........haha those were my exact sentiments the first time i went!

all in all another class week. my 4th year, had said beforehand to myself that it might be my last but after all that i think ill be goin for the rest of my life

too tired to write about my highlights now though

  4. people looking at staying in budapest on the 15th, make SURE you book your hostel in advance.in 2009 me and a mate had to roam the streets late on at night trying everywhere we could find but nowhere would take us in.

had to rough it in the end haha!

    never again though

  5. i was using a visa

got fed up and just booked through seetickets instead......and its done.

have to wait for them to send it out but Ive never had a problem with any glasto tickets from them over the years so heres hoping.

    roll on 9th august

  6. @stevooooo

yea they seem legit, problem is the exact same thing happens when i use that site too.

so i retried the official site once more and they say the "bank transaction system is temporarily down please try again later"

    doin my head in!

  7. only 4 weeks to go.i only decided this week whether to go........gonna have to live cheaply to fund it but i know that it'll be worth it once im there on that magical island once more!

highlights im lookin forward to are pulp, chemical brothers, richie hawtin, varela and the prodigy......lots on the lineup i dont know of too that can be looked into

really hope the afterparty bar by the entrance is open again this year....heard it was'nt on last year for some reason

  8. i got in on a ticket i bought off someone else.....to be fair he did look uncannily like me, same shape face etc........hair was a bit darker,so i just sprayed some black hairspray on on the train down. got to the gates and could see which stewards were scrutinising and which queues were moving fast.so naturally hopped in the fast paced queue, had a laugh with the girl cheking the ticket and hey ho, the greatest weekend of my life commenced.

if your careful and prepared, then it is very doable.

know a girl who got in that looked nothing like the photo she'd bought off someone else.know at least 2 other lads who did successfully too with no qualms.

i think the amount doing it are a drop in the ocean compared to the full number of legimate ticket holders on site and none of us paid much more than face value for our tickets so the touts didnt profit either

  9. my train journey down, the rain and mud on the way in, not caring about any of it,laughing at everything, getting a good spec then heading for a wander, finding my friends later at the park, the stone circle on wednesday night with the fireworks display.getting to sleep late at brightness every night, enjoying as much of the festival as possible cos i stayed awake longer than i have in porevious .

    - getting a little too smashed on thursday but recovering in enough time to enjoy the nightime , then going on a complete tour of the festival in the morning time.meeting random people at the stone circle at night....meeting even more random people in strummerville in the morning

right thats only as far as friday but ive go now...........just get on with it,laugh, smile, drink lots, respect others and glastonbury will pleasure you in ways ya never thought possible!

  10. we arrived at pedestrian gate A at roughly 3pm and were in by about 5 i reckon.stayed out till the early hours of thursday morning, was full of energy and not too tired.arriving late is definately the way forward! we also left site at 3 yesterday for castle cary and had no long queues to contend with

  11. i didnt notice much of this at all.i surround myself in people who dont react to this type of behaviour and just get on with it no matter what the weather......and none of us noticed any such problems

  12. janelle monae......my best new thing i hadnt heard of before the festival at the west holts saturday night. seriously the most incredible performance from such a young performer ive ever seen. she dances and acts like shes been in this business for decades

  13. Chemical brothers - best ive ever seen them, mesmerising the whole way through, was surrounded by mates all having a great time.it just doesnt get much better

janelle monae - my surprise of the weekend.like a female james brown........so so so so good live.what a show

the streets - was hard to leave everyone i knew to go this on my own but they didnt dissapoint.

Rebel Rave - im cheating here cos there was 3 different djs involved.but lovely soothing upbeat feelgood house music on a late sunday night was a stroke of genious by whoever booked them!

jackmaster/joy orbison - in the stonebridge bar half 2 on the sunday night.......my word what a phenomenal intimate way to end the festival with musically likeminded people!

honourable mentions also go to the james blake dj set friday night, caribou in the rain and paul simon........oh and gold panda!!

    just utterly an amazing weekend.

  14. matter of opinion and all but i think the likes of escape velocity and swoon will seriously go off at glastonbury.maybe they were'nt that different from stuff theyve done before but still, we'll be seeing a whole back catalogue of that in their set that nobodies gonna complain about!

even before i see them, i know that they'll be in the top 3 acts ill see over the weekend. the energy in the crowd, the feel-good factor when ya see everyone around dancing......its just not something that alot of other acts can rival.

  15. theyve never given my ticket much of a look when ive been goin through before and last year a friend of mine got through with no qualms on someone elses.

that said, ive read virtually every thread so far this year on this topis as im going in on someone elses ticket so cannot afford to be turned away and want to know as much as possible. its 50/50 in people's opinions on whether they'll let you in or not.

if you look remotely like the photo, same hair colour at least, stay chatty and friendly to them then there is hopefully a chance they will pass you through.

if you look blatantly nothing like the photo or its not even the same race/sex as you then your're effectively asking them to bend the rules of their job (which they will have been briefed on to enforce) which some of them may take exception to.

its luck to whether you get laid back person or a jobsworth.

dont have any Id on you just in case they ask to see your wallet and find something that proves its not you!

  16. i was torn between the 2 but after seeing fatboy slim countless times....he headlines the friday night virtually every year i think........im definately goin to see dj shadow. ive not seen him before and dont recall getting many chances to see him either in which case its an easy choice.

reading through here about the visuals is gettin me seriously fired up!
