  1. Wiegedood! The Belgians keep shining at Primavera. Amenra was probably my favorite show last year and Brutus will be my highlight tomorrow.

Had a huge grin on my face from midnight to 4 am during that run of Deaftones - The Armed and Wiegedood.

  2. 18 new acts confirmed, mainly for the club program Stay out West.

Arooj Aftab, Thurston Moore, The Kills, Yard Act and English Teacher are the ones that I might wanna see among the new announcements.

#oh and Yves Tumor of course!

  3. Tim's antics is pretty fun to watch. He must have changed clothes five times during the set. When he went back in the crowd and climbed the mezzanine stand to later jump down I was sure he was gonna injure himself badly. Then proceeded to pour people's beers on the floor to be able to throw himself and slide belly down on the floor.

  4. Thursday: Viuda - Voxtrot - Arab Strap - Mannequin Pussy - Blonde Redhead - Amaarae - Duster - Deftones - Sofia Kourtesis - The Armed - Wiegedood

Friday: Lisasinson - Aiko el Grupo - Silica Gel - Scowl - Yo La Tengo - Gel - LDR - The National - Brutus - Mount Kimbie

Saturday: Tercer Sol - Sophia Chablau - Slow Pulp - Militarie Gun - El Mato a un Policia Motorizado - Eartheater - American Football - Mandy Indiana - Atarashi Gakko! - Model/Actriz.

Looking strong, especially excited about the Thursday. Will be absolutely exhausted by the time Wiegedood starts and hopefully be able to enjoy the sheer noise washing over us.

A bit disappointed with the scheduling for Saturday but still plenty to see throughout the night.

  5. Wow the Saturday is surprisingly heavy on clashes for me.

Royel Otis vs Lisabö vs Militarie Gun vs Depresion Sonora. Such a strong 4-way clash is unusual, will probably go with Militarie Gun or Lisabö. Depresion Sonora would seem to fit better for later spot?

Yo La Tengo and Chelsea Wolfe is a hard one but will go see Chelsea when she comes to Sweden instead.

HTRK and Blonde Redhead is too bad, must be very overlapping fan bases..

What are you regular attendees favourite things or customs to do in Barca doing Primavera week?

    Bars, restaurants, brunch etc?

Im staying in El Born this time. Hotel was chunky money. 1550 quid.

I normally get a few cocktails in each morning with breakfast to knock the cobwebs off.

Wow, 1500 £ is crazy money indeed. I will stay in a hostel to afford some other festivals this Summer. Staying in a hotel certainly improves the experience though. Before I always used to stay in Airbnbs close to the Forum. But last year reservation got cancelled and hearing to many stories of really late cancellations from other visitors.

Having a snack at Quimet y Quimet before an Apolo show is always nice. And one of the first days I always take a stroll through Barri Gotic and visit la Boqueria.

  7. Anyone been to Bourbon & Beyond before?

Takes place in Louisville, Kentucky. The lineup seems to gather a lot of attention among lovers of country, bluegrass and americana.

The Sunday is looking tempting; My Morning Jacket doing a home town headline show. The War on Drugs, The National, Dinosaur Jr and Sunny Day Real Estate.

Thursday is also decent; Neil Young, Beck, Fleet Foxes, M. Ward and Arlo Parks.

Wouldn't mind to sip some bourbon in the sun among people in cowboy boots as I watch The War on Drugs.

For me it's the opposite. I think this is the best WOW-line up in at least a decade. I'm especially keen on seeing Queens of the stone age, The Smile, PJ Harvey, Pulp, the National, Slow Dive and Big Thief.

Same for me, I think this year is shaping up to be maybe the strongest year since around 2012-2014, back then this festival was generally more enjoyable for me.

And especially considering they have only announced around 15 acts so far. Many more names to be added including the entire Stay out West lineup.

  9. Just got myself a ticket, will be my first Arctangent! What are your must sees? Recommendations for bands that are exceptionally strong live acts?

So far I'm most excited about these:

Wednesday: LLNN and Din of Celestial Birds.

Thursday: Amenra, EitS, Julie Christmas and Healthyliving.

Friday: Year of No Light, Blackshape, Maruja and Shy, Low.

Saturday: Mogwai, Caspian, Electric Wizard and ASIWYFA.

  10. Delighted with the Monday lineup, excited to see the Chameleons and Cranes. Also a few of the others that I didn't know from before seems interesting.

Tuesday a bit weaker but the Messthetics, The Mountain Goats, Yo La Tengo and Les Savy Fav will be good enough entertainment.

Not in full, he had a 50 minutes slot. I was at King Gizz but I'm sure he made a great concert as always (saw it two times too during last tour 🙏)

That's right. He played only material from IRA but only about 50 minute slot and that album is close to two hours so less than half of album was performed.

  12. 1) Slowdive - 2018. Probably second most beautiful show I've seen at PS after Mvb in 2013.

    2) Amenra - 2023. They need to book more post-metal the coming years.

    3) Iosonouncane - 2022. Such a great dark show with such a small attendance. Would have loved to see the new album performed in full.

    4) Deerhunter - 2019 at Apolo. I miss them, PS without them is not the same!

    5) Carolina Durante - 2022 One of the best moments I've had at Primavera was during Thursday of W1 when finally managed to get drinks from the understaffed bars and set off to see The Armed followed by Carolina Durante, such an energetic show with guest performance from Santiago Motorizado. The Spanish crowd was really up for it. Fuelled by alcohol and with renewed energy the experience went from very uncomfortable to ecstatic.

Flights booked, accomodation booked, 1000 bucks poorer.

I really want those Ciutat Shows now, so I can see if I have time for sightseeing etc.

I just booked a warm up with Portals festival in London the weekend before. Then going straight from London to Barcelona on the Monday to be able to attend the entire Ciutat program.

And now I feel a bit stupid remembering how exhausting it was to do double festival weekends in 2022.

Probably not a general experience, but Primavera is my main source of concerts. Me and my partner saw a lot of great sets since we started attending Primavera (2017) and regarding some of them we knew immediately that we just have to see them again. However, we live in Bratislava (not exactly the cultural centre of the world) and even though I check all the concerts in the area (Vienna, Prague, Budapest), usually there is no chance to see the artists we fell in love with nearby. So, repeated names are a blessing. When I saw L'Imperatrice or Hannah Diamond (or even The National) on the poster, I was just happy, couldn't care less that they are 2022 repeats. Of course, I want fresh names on the line-up too, but they ARE there. I have more than 30 new artists I want to check and I'm sure many of them would make me very happy if repeated in 2026.

To have some repeat names is natural, it's not possible to just book new names. And it is also essential to the soul of a festival, to have a core group of artists that come back a bit more often. The quintessential bands of the festival if you will.

  15. I was hoping for Slowdive, The Walkmen, Explosions in the Sky, Bdrmm. And every year I dream more unrealistic dreams of Mbv or something like Russian Circles or Cult of Luna (ok last year we got Amenra..)

But I have seen all those before apart from Bdrmm. The great thing is to get a lineup filled with unexpected names I have never seen live before and plenty of future favorites I didnt even know of. I think this lineup achieved this at least for my taste. It feels really fresh eventhough there is another part of the lineup that consists of names that might have been repeated a bit too much over the years.

If anything Primavera books too many big names for me. The sweet spot would be to combine Primavera with a smaller niche festival. I might do Dunk festival in Belgium to get some more post rock/post metal and combine with PS to get that nice variety in genres and unique bookings like Lankum, Duster etc. Granted it is a bit privileged to be able to do two festivals in the same year.

I've already checked all the artists, made the list of names I need to check more thoroughly and my first impression was absolutely correct - the line-up is a classic Primavera with a lot of artists to be excited about now and another chunk of musicians to discover in the following months.

I'm also very happy with releasing the line-up so soon - more time for me to dig into it. I really hope they're never going back to late january releases.

As for the day splits, I'm little afraid it might be like last year - Thursday was so stacked that I missed far too many must-sees while Saturday almost completely missed me. But if they manage to divide the poster more evenly (to my tastes), it's going to be another beautiful Primavera.

Exactly, these first few days after line-up release are special. It's November and drizzly and horrible outside, perfect conditions to stay inside and explore the poster.

So far I am interested in around 45-50 names including must-sees and some new ones I've only had time to listen to a few songs but really like on first listen.

  17. I think there are more bands I wanna see this year compared to last year, stronger undercard than most years!

The Armed, Deftones, Wiegedood, Chelsea Wolfe, Duster, Yo la Tengo, El Mato a un Policia Motorizado, Amyl & the Sniffers, Lambchop, Lankum, Militaire Gun, Blonde Redhead, American Football, Brutus, Gel, Scowl, Yeule, Ratboys, Slow Pulp, Lisabö, HTRK, Sophia Chablau, Arab Strap, Wolf Eyes, Mannequin Pussy and Water From Your Eyes.

Headliners weak of course, only thing I would wanna see there is the National, maybe PJ Harvey.

Strongest Wednesday in a few years as well. Happy to see all of Phoenix, Tropical f**k Storm, Maria Jaume and Ratboys.

Starting to explore now with the likes of Silica Gel and Phew that sound interesting on a first listen.

  18. Canela Party in Torremolinos/Malaga have announced their first few names.

Big Thief headlining. Wednesday, Protomartyr, Gilla Band, Crack Cloud, Metz, Yawners, Triangulo de Amor Bizarro, Ibio Sound Machine, Home Front, La Plata, Cala Vento, Amigas Intimas, Margarita Quebrada, Prison Affair, Monteperdido.

I would have been happy to see most of these at the PS lineup. Reminds me more of old Primavera. In fact, it seemed there was less smaller Spanish indie/garage/shoegaze bands than normal last year.
