  1. The "Karrimor" branded stuff sold by SportsDirect is NOT a product of the highly reputable UK-based Karrimor company of many years ago who produced top quality gear. The original company folded up donkey's years ago and SportsDirect simply bought and now just use the name on products various so do not expect the same quality product or very good reputation of years gone by and all that. The gear mostly appears to be just another cheaply made overseas sourced item now. Also beware of the "original selling price" often quoted to highlight the bargain prices so to speak because it always seems to me to be a pretty unrealistic RRP i.e. it's significantly higher than the going rate for very similar stuff from elsewhere.

Having said that, some of the gear I've actually looked at doesn't seem too bad at all given the prices and I have been seriously tempted a few times. However, I think it's probably fair to say that quality is highly variable going by reviews various ! I would suggest that you make sure you actually have a good look at what you're interested in before parting with any do$h to ensure that it really is suitable for your needs and also do your homework first to ensure that the bargain price on the ticket really is a genuine bargain. As is almost always the case, you generally only get what you pay for and all that, but that certainly doesn't mean that there aren't bargains to be had providing you know exactly what you're getting for your do$h and don't have unrealistic expectations.

Many el-cheapo things I've bought from the likes of Aldi, Lidl and various other places over the years have lasted for absolutely ages and have without any doubt whatsoever been significantly better and massively cheaper than very similar well known brand goods. Bargains are defo out there to be had, you just need to make sure you find the genuine ones and ignore the cr@p rather than simply believe the hype from the marketing department !

Thanks for the info. I'd thought I'd read somewhere about the karrimor brand malarkey. But of a shame as I seem to remember them being reputable. Having looked at some reviews I think I may splash out a bit on something that might last!

  2. I'm not 'consciously outdoorsy"', but I have really good boots and gaiters, so last year that's what I took as I didn't own any wellies. My feet were comfortable and I had none of the chafing associated with wellingtons, but I found myself in envy of those who could easily slip off their muddy footwear and sit down in the tea areas of some of the small venues. I'll be investing in rubber for next year.

  3. Probably my favorite moment was in 2003, my (then) girlfriends face when she saw the stone circle at night for the first time, all the little lights and fires up on the hill.. She couldn't believe her eyes.

The worst was in 2009 with the same girl. Our relationship was ending but we had tickets & went anyway, all the time knowing that as soon as the tent came down it was over, we were going our separate ways..

We had loads of great Glastonburys together but I wish we hadn't have gone to that one.. . Very sad sad.png

  4. To me that would be like a red rag to a bull, each to their own of course but I'm sure in a less that sober state I would think of some ironic prank to play on them.

    Suggestions anyone?

  5. I remember a couple of years back me and my brother trekked to our desired campsite, we must have been 20 metres from anyone else and just as we were putting up the tent some people from the nearest camp began taping off an area that included us in it! I thought about having a go but to be honest we just moved off as wouldn't want some twonks like that as neighbours!

  6. I love this thread and it's getting me all excited again :)

I was thinking about getting a decent camera soon, a little argos point and click just doesn't do it for me anymore but I cannot tell the difference between all the complicated ones around! May have to wander into a shop and ask them to point me in the right direction. I'd love to get some amazing shots of the best festival on earth.

  7. ok...i'm getting random 'Event not found' results on refreshing but mainly the holding page. my guess is that one or more of the seetickets servers has no 700000 event loaded onto it hence the 'event not found'. as the load-balancer passes your page request to servers in turn it hits the dodgy one every now and then.....sincerely hope this gets sorted.

the 'holding' page is simply the equivalent of a 'sorry page' which loads when the 700000 service is unavailable, or when it reaches a maximum session limit. i suspect they merely have it administratively 'down' at present to force the holding page to load.

  8. Does anyone know if there is any point now in continuing to hammer the F5 key in an attempt to connect, or do we just have to wait until they actually start selling tickets and ports then become available - ie can I go back to reading the paper ?

  9. So best strategy at the moment - lots of browsers refreshing the deposits worthy farm address kinked to off the website (manually and leaving some auto) - getting told a queue but 'event not found' at the moment if you get through?
