  1. An unexpected, personal favorite. Was feeling pretty low Sat afternoon, wandering around and laying low. Then I heard this really tight-sounding band on the Avalon stage. The song they played when I properly started to watch them had this amazing, chorus-y, glossy 80s guitar, vocal melodies were amazing. I couldn’t help grinning, cause it was such a typical “Glstonbury moment”, random gem dicovering moments.

Before that, I didn’t even know who ‘Tom Robinson Band’ were.

So definitely, my personal favorite act of 2022, ‘Still Loving You’ will be the song that reminds me of Glastonbury 2022 for years to come.

This festival absolutely broke me physically, mentally, and spiritually. Loved all of the acts I saw and the highs were incredibly high. The lows, though... oh boy.

It was beyond crowded, but this was my first time going properly solo. Did not enjoy it. Really missed the social aspect of it, but that coupled with the fact that everyone who said they would hang out with me either stood me up or cancelled made me feel quite isolated and caused a lot of self-doubt. The friends I used to go with have all moved on from wanting to go regularly. I think if I don't have someone to go with, I won't go again.

Also, my legs are fucked haha!

Maybe I need to work on both my mental and physical fortitude - but right now the thought of another Glasto just makes me feel sad and worried. I've never had that before.

First of all, hoping you’re feeling better by now. Judging by the honesty you’ve shown writing this post, i think you’re a decent person, and fully deserve better.

I think it’s totally natural that you’d feel miserable after being stood up etc, horrible behaviour of others. But please try not to ‘self-doubt’, and hope you knkw it isn’t your fault. I did a solo one this year, and I understand and sympathize with what you wrote down.

In general, if it’a not a decision that’s urgent, I would hold off on deciding wether it’s ‘my last’ or not. I was certainly tempted to say ‘it’s my last’ after this one (and during many moments), but I am going to see how i feel, and i hope you do too. It will help uou make a more “informed” decision, and not feel bad about yourself.

For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t have stood you up! Again, hope u feel better

  3. First time at Primavera Sound and NOS Primavera. Hope this helps to anyone who is considering them for next year.

In my opinion, the Porto version was a bit better. I think they managed to pull most of the bands from Barcelona in the previous editions, although this year they didnt. (think if Arcade Fire was in Porto, it would have been just perfect, but Rock in Rio nicked them, i think). But that being said, it was still better. Primavera Sound is a much much bigger festival, and the crowd gets pretty crammed during gigs. And having a VIP área on the front one half of the two main stages (Sony and Heineken) certainly didnt help. Most gigs at night started with half of the front practically empty, and still only the VIPs could enter. and it just didnt feel right. I wonder how Arcade Fire felt about that. Add to that, the Sony stage left side had horrible, horrible sound, like the amps were made of paper, so those who didnt have VIP tickets suffered.

But the worst thing was the beer prices. I think Heineken was 5 euros for a teeny cup. It was much better in Porto, with a larger cup of Super Bock being 3.50 euros.

I guess, with both festivals, however, everything will kind of come down to how good a lineup they manage. Nothing much else to see other than the music.

Simply put, I think I would think very hard about going back to Primavera Sound. Porto, on the other hand, I am definitely coming back when I get the chance. And obviously, Porto is such a beautiful city.

  4. Hmm it looks possible, totally depends what the dates are though doesn't it? If they're in Greece on June 27th and In Sweden on the 29th it isn't going to happen, maybe we'll get a better idea tomorrow when the dates are announced. The timing of the London date doesn't help either, that's May 28th.

  5. to be totally straight, i really don't mind MCR headlining, really, just like i didn't mind GNR headlining.

it's just that we had LCD soundsystem last year, and this year, i really don't know where i'm gonna be when the headliners are playing.

that said... i am really hoping the lock-up would be amazing.

  6. to be honest they could have headlined Reading. why not?

when arcade fire headlined last year some thought they were unworthy and they won the Grammys (which isn't a big deal)

and they performed one of the most memorable headlining slot (IMO)

if they had headlined, they would be regarded as one of the best books reading had done by next year.

i doubt if anyone's gonna be talking about MCR by next year but... i could be wrong. who knows?

i probably won't see them anyway. high hopes for lock up.

  7. erm... this may be one dumb question... but here it goes.

i got tickets in december last year. weekend tickets.

i vaguely remember there being a with camping or without camping option but i'm not sure.

was the one on sale with or without camping? assuming that there even is one without camping...

if all weekend tickets are with camping, then fine :)

if not could someone tell me what the price was for tickets WITH camping as that's the only way i'm gonna be sure.

see, i've tried contacting seetickets, but as you know they kinda suck at feedback.

    thanks cheers

  8. The thing that was so great about Britpop was that it wasn't f**king American. We 'got' bands like Green Day, The Offspring, Blink 182 because they're bands that are quite easy to 'get' once they've been homogenised and shoved in front of our faces on MTV, same with a band like MCR. They're like McDonald's - a deeply unhealthy biproduct of a commercial and unethical industry that lacks in any real depth or nutrition but is shoved out on a plate because it's easier for us to consume it that way. I don't have the time for bands like that because I don't consider myself to be an ignorant sod.

Britpop spoke to people in Britain on a completely different level of understanding because it was so distinctly 'us' and about 'us' made by people who were like 'us'. I hate Oasis but Noel Gallagher said something that typified the whole ethos of Britpop by saying something to the effect of, "what's the point in going to America where we're nobodies when we can stay in Britain and be legends?"

Britpop gave us back our identity and I think as a nation of real music lovers we should be proud of that.

  9. i'd love to see pulp, but neil's prediction seems more fitting : pulp under the strokes on saturday.

as for the third headliner i can see Blur fitting in rather nicely.

reading has pulled off the Libertines reunion, and in 2009 they had radiohead.

so i'd expect some kind of reunited or some unexpected act that is exclusive to Reading.

Blur's done Glasto and TITP so it's only logical that they do Reading.

coincides well with Damon saying that 'blur will do something' in 2011.

or the Killers. but they've been too recently.

  10. that bit in Razmatazz where Jarvis goes "uh-oh!" is really doing it for me these days.

all their songs are excellent, lyrics genius. This is Hardcore is probably my fav.

  11. hmmm... dunno how much reliable this is but HRC twitter says the Eagles are headlining one of the two nights.

Sat. headliners are *gasp* Bon Jovi.

Surely as Glasto shares some headliners with HRC (Neil, Bruce, Stevie)

we might get to see Eagles headlining Glasto?
