I've already gotten a crate from the Asda deal, but oh go on then... Road trip to Tesco tomorrow it is. An offer that good cannot be refused.
39 beers should last me, right?
-
Our group of 17 year olds befriended a group of 25-30ish year olds - we're pretty friendly if you don't prejudge us as 'chavs out to burn things and drink more alcohol than they can handle'.
-
I was thinking after last year that I'd probably be able to get away without bringing any wellies, but given the recent weather I'm definitely not going to risk it.
-
Im not actually going to see them at Leeds, but I'm always up this late anyway and didn't even know about it until 10 minutes before it started, thought I may as well... Nice relaxing music for this time of night.
-
Off with Their Heads, Hatebreed, and Japanese Popstars. So far.
-
Pendulum/Bad Religion (depends)
Blink 182
Guns 'N' Roses
-
If Im not too hungover I'd probably see them. Heavy way to start the day.
-
I was hoping for a little bit more, but meh...
The Lock-Up last year saved the festival for me, but this year the main stage is awesome anyway, so it aint so bad. Its all gonna depend on timings and who they clash with.
Might have to see Cancer Bats, Against Me, Streetlight, and I'll check out a few of the earlier ones I aint heard of for the Friday.
-
I can see Gaslight headlining the NME in a couple years time.
In terms of out of nowhere bands... Mid Lockup 08, Mid NME 09, Mid Mainstage 10... fits the bill quite nicely.
-
I bet this isn't the only time though that people have wondered "Where will the next good band come from?" and everything is doom and gloom for the industry.
I'm not denying that its a pretty relevant statement for now, but surely having Arcade Fire as a headliner is a step in the right direction.
-
Does the shuttle bus run on Wednesday, and is it free (if not how much)?
Also, its kind of fitting how a thread about lightening up is derailed by the subject of beer.
-
Friday: Gorillaz (Aint sure if they'd be big enough to headline main stage, but they did for Coachella and that seemed to just be a 'warmup' festival for getting used to playing live...)
Saturday: Foo Fighters
Sunday: System of a Down
Would be lucky to get any one of those three though really...
-
I was fearing the worst on the Sunday night last year (my first fest) but it wasn't really bad at all. We were in yellow, saw one fire start nearby, heard one gas canister go off. Then the wardens came to put it out, and that was it really. I'm going there again, and with the clamp down on fires, I'll be a bit more relaxed this time around.

Yeh, G'n'R are the only band of the 3 that could pull off a 2 hour set.
Anyway, We Are Scientists and Paramore is a bad one for me... Would much rather see WAS but that means getting a crappy spot for Blink. Might still go for it though, we'll see.
(Lock-Up is bound to create many bad clashes though)
-
So long as Foo Fighters play next year I'd be delighted.
Muse and System would be good.
-
The thing is, if people are dickheads when they're 16/17, they're still (mostly) going to be dickheads when they turn 18.
Also I was 17 when I first went, and we made great friends with a group of 25 year olds...
-
Bowling and Blink in one day would be awesome fun.
-
I was going to add,
"if she can read, she can bleed"
But I thought it might be inappropriate.
(I also don't condone, or live by this mantra) well not anymore lol...
-
Yeh, they generally try and keep it as late as possible to try and stop touting (to a certain extent anyway).
aslong as i make it across the big balls i'll be safe then? -
I was only at the Picadilly Party once last year, we basically walked past, heard some metal playing and couldn't resist a quick pit!
-
do you rekon it will still be the relentless tent though, in 08 i swear it was called duracell tent, unless people know of relentless still sponsoring or something like that, will pretty much be the same thing anyway.
-
Don't forget to often chant "You wat you wat" and "Yorkshire!" (or, if you're particularly non-conformist, individual and cool, "Lancashire")
Oh, and don't forget to brag about how you've never heard of Arcade Fire. Atrocious that they would headline your festival.
-
Yeh I dont think it does, what with it being closer to a residential area or something. Still has a Silent Disco I think.
-
Well theres nobody checking at the Relentless tent so you should be fine there, should be fine for the SD as well but theres a lot of workers you've got to get past, not so sure.
RAIN
in Reading & Leeds Festivals
Posted
Wednesday and Thursday are the best days for experiencing the real festival atmosphere. Rain and mud are annoying but it isn't enough to ruin it. Not by any means.
