This line up is better than I thought! Of course it doesn't take into account how much you like certain bands blah blah blah, but yeah, good solid line up in my books!

  2. Once you've been on your feet from 11am to 11pm you'll probably look forward to sitting down at your tent for a bit.

but the films looked a decent plan but we never got round to it, stuff like Kick-ass, the new Sherlock Holmes & avatar, even though I'm sure it weren't even out on DVD at the time, but I digress, oh & there was a couple of zombie flicks on to I think.

  3. Yeah last year one of my mates came who wasn't really interested in the lineup he just didnt want to miss out cus everyone was going but he's a metal head and instead of going to see the few bands he'd be interested in he just followed us around and stood in the crowd with a face like a slapped arse and complained about the music all the time :P

  4. Kings of Leon - Only By The Night is up there, even if its mainstream success killed it with their original fans. The best advice I could give to Kings of Leon right now would simply be to f**k off for a few years (like the Killers are doing) so they could regain some of that wow factor.

I think another reason we are lacking new MASSIVE bands is because bands genuinely want to play gigs & festivals whereas your massive bands have a certain rarity to them. I think this is what's holding back Biffy, KoL, Arcade Fire & Muse, they just enjoy touring too much to disappear and only make 1 festival appearance every 2/3 years.

  5. If something is in your bag in your tent you'd be very unlucky to get it nicked, but if you've got a locker just pop it in there & it'll be fine.

How long is your train journey to warrant books (plural) an mp3 & a gameboy?

I tend to cope with the 'Reading special' NME & Kerrang & a few cold drinks before they become a rarity, but I'm a simple mind. ;)

  6. And if you don't find anyone to go with there's a group of us (about 8/9 by the looks of it) lads & girls who're pretty laid back and you're welcome to chill with us if you like if you don't have anyone else to go with.

It's a little small, but you should be able to make out the different colours,

Orange and Purple are about the same distance away & Red is a little bit further, but they're all only about 5/10 minute walks.

Yellow & Green are the louder two but are closer & brown and white are quiet ones and a pretty sizeable walk to the arena, more for if you want to relax & keep out the way.

  8. It's probably advisable to take a lawyer or two if you're into having an entourage travel with you.

If you just take on board what people say on here you'll be far more prepared than the majority of first timers.

We camp in orange it's, pretty quiet, everyone seemed nice last year, towards the back so there's not a lot of people walking through so you're tent doesn't get f**ked around with, its close to a Tesco to pick up extra alcohol & it's generally pretty chilled out. You'll have a good time wherever you camp, its just as people have been saying, the closer you camp to the arena the more 'lively' it is throught the night, partly because of people walking through to get places and because it's where people seem to congregate to lark about after hours.

  9. I was 18 last year and my mate who was also just about 18 but looks a fair bit younger both didn't get asked bringing alcohol in & I don't think we got IDed at the bar in the arena, but I didn't buy many from there so I can't say how often you would get IDed throughout the day.

If you had someone else's ID I think they'd accept it as they wouldn't be expecting many people would want to give their ID to someone who was going away to a festival for 4/5 days.

  10. Most stuff has already been covered but I'll chip in with a bit more.

Make sure you take a torch/electric lantern thing, as it can be a bit of a pisstake fumbling around in your tent for stuff is near total darkness without some sort of light.

Take some layers (I sound like a grandparent now) cos it can get pretty nippy at night & if it does happen to be reasonably warm you can always use a hoodie or whatever as a pillow.

If there is any chance of it raining make sure you've got a decent amount of waterproofs, try to avoid things like jeans as if its hot they can get uncomfortable if you're wearing them all day & if it rains they'll be wet for about 3 years.

Wear some sort of sensible footwear on the way into the festival, I made the mistake last year (my first time) of wearing trainers on the way to the festival and as it had rained pretty much all week in the lead up to the festival the queue on the way in was an absolute mud bath, so go in your wellies/old boots if it's has been or will be any rain.

    Hope this is helpful :)

  11. After reading through this thread last night I thought it would only be fair to give them a chance, already loving Bloodbuzz Ohio & can see the other albums growing on me up until Reading (much like Arcade Fire last year) and culminating in them being one of the bands I want to see most by the time the festival starts.
