Just wanted to clarify that by trainers I mean something like these. They're grippy on the walkways, gravel, grass and mud and will keep your feet dry as long as you don't go in lakes of mud over your ankle.
These do look comfey and practical, I will recommend. Thanks

Get him to walk 10 miles a day, dance all night then sleep for 3 hours on a hard surface for a week.... Then see what he says.
Will put him through his paces this weekend.
-
Two plastic bags with elastic bands 'round the ankles.
What about sweat feet?
-
I have been for a few years, went with willies for the first few years, but now I am a firm walking boot convert! (Once you have worn them in!)
Obviously there will a heat wave and we will be happy wondering round in trainers, however, tell you buddy to have a more practical pair of something, just in case.
#teamwalkingboots :-)
Yes willies are impractical!

Trainers all the way for me. Wellies are heavy on the feet, and it's a long trek from the car park to the camping grounds.
What about wet feet?
-
been going for a while , trust me, tell him to get some decent walking boots.
nothing worse than sore, tired and damp feet
I will be passing all this info on, so thanks for replying.
-
I don't take wellies myself but I take walking boots at least for the miles and miles we walk. If it does rain he will have very wet feet and struggle in trainers. Cheers though guys for that assistance.

Our friend is coming to his first Glasto this year and although he is the loveliest fellow you could meet he only wants to take trainers for foot wear.
Of course there will be NFR NFC but could you guys just give me a bit of back up with my 'you must take some decent footwear or your ankles will throb until 2025' argument.
It would be much appreciated.
Thank you see you all very soon, I will be the one with a shoeless friend trying to get some decent foot wear from welly henge.

May is a quiet month for me, not much planned at all, so it could we drag but the excitement building on here will keep the spirits high.
I feel like I want to start packing now though!
May is a quiet one for us too so trying to organise a bit of Glasto packing and sorting each weekend.
Absolutely can't wait.

I am way more excited than I usually am. I think it's because I am more relaxed as a person now and I used to think something would inevitably stop me getting there. A bit of Glasto anxiety stopped the excitement until the very last minute but this time I am really up for it.

poppers are a damned sight better than noz in my experience, even with the poppers headache.
Poppers headache is not good, I tried a few times but it was not for me, I prefer something that's a bit more sustaining.
-
Poppers noisy?!
No not noisy I meant the high is so minimal what is the point. But yes could be read that way,
-
Part of me feels I should say each to their own and I know that drugs can enhance the euphoric feeling of the festival, been there once or twice . However for me nos is like poppers, completely pointless. It's unsociable, noisy and in a large gathering it's rude.
I think people should do what they want as long as it doesn't encroach on others in a negative way. I am happy to chat to any random, have random hugs, chats, dances, share my wears etc. but the noise from those canisters grates my head.
I welcome this announcement but it won't work unless the majority of people help in terms of speaking out against people doing it. Haven't been to the stone circle for years because of this. Maybe this year I will go and try shame the nos monsters in to doing their balloons somewhere else.

We have added some peach and passion fruit to rum and some pineapple and manderine to vodka, staying away from the boiled sweets this year as the sugar makes me a bit too giddy.

We have come out in our little caravan for the week and noted all the repairs etc that need doing. Waterproofed the awning and annexxe's for friends sleeping in them at Glasto. We are also in the process of making a manderin and pineapple gin, summer fruits vodka and a passion fruit and peach rum.
Trying to find some cheap cans of brothers and also practicing some bloody Mary's for brekkie.
Not long now!

I remember my first time going and I didn't know until I was given the programme as I walked through the gate. We set up and I scrawled through it with a pencil drinking a cider and having a smoke. It was brilliant.

Thanks Grumpy! We stayed in a trailer tent near hill of death last year was a different experience but a good one.
Good advice on the gas and glass. We will get some chocks as it is a bit uneven in those fields

We have bought a caravan, not completely for Glasto but it will be coming with us. This will be our tenth time and needing a little more luxury in life these days. In fact as I type this we are spending our first night in it and it made me think of how much of a comfey sleep we will get, when we do sleep. Also how everything we have chatted about all night relates to what would be best for the festival. For example what items we still need to buy, should we get another gas bottle...... Can't wait for four months time when we are looking at the sight from the hill of death and smiling the smile you only get on your face at Glasto, raising a drink to the best five days of the year.

I got through on sky fibre 36mb using mac book and safari. Parter got through on 4g phone tethered to laptop. It's just luck I think.
-
That is the most brilliant thing I have ever seen.
They must have been on a lot of really good drugs filming that. I imagine it was their greatest summer ever.

Sigh bottles or the non brand one from wilko are great, we attach them to the bags with carabiners during the day.
-
Usually we camp but this year going in trailer tent so first thing will be a bit of exploring after being well rested for a change, I hope. And a cider of course.

Thanks for all your replies everyone, I am going to show him at camping tonight, he will be quite surprised as he also does not use forums etc so I don't think he will be expecting much.
As you say though trainers are fine if it's dry and he can buy wellies there but I hope this may convince him that walking boots / walking trainers are important not just the adidas sambas he will be bringing.
I now have the solace that I have tried and any slipping and mud diving he does can be met with a hearty giggle.
Thanks again and roll on the 24th
