  1. Have you seen what happens to money, aid or otherwise, when it falls into the hands of most of these governments? They buy guns, "lots of guns."

Hes seen as a twat by most people, as is Geldof. Its inevitable when you dabble in "charidee".

It would be much easier for him to do what Jagger does for charity (which is f**k all), and seem cooler.

The tax thing, meh. No big deal in the grand scheme of things.

  2. U2 - Can't stand them, will 100% not be there!

MUSE - Great! Can't wait see see them finally.

STEVIE - The BEST ever - I'm so excited already....how will I last 25 weeks!?

  3. I wasn't saying they have any integrity about it, but whoever it is may make the right noises. How often do we get some celebrities, usually musicians, on the TV banging on about the environment when they have just flown in from {insert country of choice} to do the interview, when a satellite link would do just as well. Or even better, a Bugs Bunny cartoon, usually more grounded in reality but less funny.

    Here's a classic example

    of green musicians.

  4. I think there has been a shift over the years from having acts that have some sort of interest/support for the theme of the festival, CND/Greenpeace etc, to just getting the big names in. The only act I saw last year on the bigger stages that even gave a nod to things green was Neil Young with Natural Anthem. There was a rather lengthy sermon about church building at one point though.
  5. Love the story?

Im not holier-than-thou apologist for him and maybe the vibe is a little blunt from Bono but to take delight in the reality that children are dying of hunger strikes me as crass in the extreme. If someone shouted that out at a U2 gig I'd be surprised if he didnt get called every name under the sun by his fellow gig goers. The least it shows is a complete lack of maturity - the worst is a heartless impatience that beggars belief.

  6. Shoulda gone to one of their London gigs. They were ace.

I was convinced they'd play Glastonbury last year, and like you was gutted when they didn't.

I don't think there's any chance this year - they've no new material to promote. Shame.

  7. If I remember rightly, Colin & Co. were strongly rumoured on efestivals last year. I was absolutely gutted when they weren't on the bill. They're a brilliant live band. I'd love to see them play.

  8. Probably the most boring headliners in history.

U2 - Never mind Bono being a tw@t, they've been boring the hell out of me since about 1989 with their bland drivel. They are apparently the biggest band in the world. How is it that I've never actually met a true fan?

  9. I know it's a bit of a mundane topic to make but I just want to hear peoples general opinions on the headliners. It's a bit hard to say no arguments cause there always is on these forums :P but I just want to hear opinions :P

Here is my view on the headliners:

U2: Amazing booking, will definately be there because It'll be the only chance I get to see them live.

Muse: I'm not too fussed about this, but happy for the people that are :P I've already seen them live once before so I don't mind missing them for a band one of the smaller stages.

Stevie Wonder: SO Excited about this. It's gonna be great to end the festival with a little bit of funk/soul euphoria.

So what are your opinions then?

  10. So Maceo is playing the States up until April, then playing all over Europe through the end of May but no UK gigs posted yet. Here's hoping he'll manage to squeeze in some time in June for London show and a Glasto appearance. :P
  11. Other: Faithless, Strokes, Chems

Dance East: Fatboy Slim, Leftfield, Deadmau5

JP: Thomosexuals, Yeah yeah yeahs (too big?), Weezer (would see this band over any other this year)

Park: Gorilaz (secret set, totally unannounced with no rumours), Paolo Nutini, Florence and the machine

Jazz: OutKast on one of the days...

  12. They seem delighted about Stevie headlining but also said something to the effect of "it'll make a change from last year when no one knew any of the songs Springsteen played."

    What insufferable c**ts.

  13. Hi All,

It is inevitable that every year not everyone is happy with the Glastonbury headliners, so I thought I would open this thread to see who else peole want/expect to see headline other stages.

I for one am not disappointed with the headliners as such, but I will only be watching one of them (Stevie, providing he is as nailed down as we think). I dislike U2, but I have seen Muse 5 times. I just feel their newer stuff is as about as enjoyable as scratching a chalk board with your teeth!

I'll start, I think we may see Broken Social Scene headline a smaller stage this year, along with Thom Yorke and I hope The Pixies play The Other Stage Friday or Sat night.

    Maybe wishful thinking thought!

What do you other haters want/expect? :P

  14. So it's not really a young persons slot on Sunday after all!! :P

and how can anybody be completely pissed off, I'm sure there will be huge acts headlining elsewhere and lets face it, there is always somewhere else to go...
