I'd be interested to hear what facts you are basing your comment about Bono doing "more harm than good in Africa" on for starters.
The rest of your recent trolling I overlook as best I can but the staggering ignorance of the above comment needs to be highlighted.
-
I don't know - I agree fully with it. Actually I'd go a little further and simply have to comment on his bloody sunglasses - he looks a complete pillock.

Luckily for this forum your extremely unpleasant and ill-informed views are in the minority.

I wasn't saying they have any integrity about it, but whoever it is may make the right noises. How often do we get some celebrities, usually musicians, on the TV banging on about the environment when they have just flown in from {insert country of choice} to do the interview, when a satellite link would do just as well. Or even better, a Bugs Bunny cartoon, usually more grounded in reality but less funny.
Here's a classic example

of green musicians.

The Pope. An arsehole of a man.

I think there has been a shift over the years from having acts that have some sort of interest/support for the theme of the festival, CND/Greenpeace etc, to just getting the big names in. The only act I saw last year on the bigger stages that even gave a nod to things green was Neil Young with Natural Anthem. There was a rather lengthy sermon about church building at one point though.

But that would ruin my chance of hitting him square in the face with a tub of rancid butter.

Love the story?
Im not holier-than-thou apologist for him and maybe the vibe is a little blunt from Bono but to take delight in the reality that children are dying of hunger strikes me as crass in the extreme. If someone shouted that out at a U2 gig I'd be surprised if he didnt get called every name under the sun by his fellow gig goers. The least it shows is a complete lack of maturity - the worst is a heartless impatience that beggars belief.
-
I hope that they play. Even though I really didn't like Hazards of Love what so ever. Still a great live band though.

Shoulda gone to one of their London gigs. They were ace.
I was convinced they'd play Glastonbury last year, and like you was gutted when they didn't.
I don't think there's any chance this year - they've no new material to promote. Shame.
-
If I remember rightly, Colin & Co. were strongly rumoured on efestivals last year. I was absolutely gutted when they weren't on the bill. They're a brilliant live band. I'd love to see them play.

I know it's a bit of a mundane topic to make but I just want to hear peoples general opinions on the headliners. It's a bit hard to say no arguments cause there always is on these forums but I just want to hear opinions
Here is my view on the headliners:
U2: Amazing booking, will definately be there because It'll be the only chance I get to see them live.
Muse: I'm not too fussed about this, but happy for the people that are I've already seen them live once before so I don't mind missing them for a band one of the smaller stages.
Stevie Wonder: SO Excited about this. It's gonna be great to end the festival with a little bit of funk/soul euphoria.
So what are your opinions then?

Saw him in London last summer. Him and the New JBs were amazing, as were the crowd.
-
So Maceo is playing the States up until April, then playing all over Europe through the end of May but no UK gigs posted yet. Here's hoping he'll manage to squeeze in some time in June for London show and a Glasto appearance.
-
Dammit.
They've been around for ever and ever (like me) but I hadn't ever really thought about it
until now!

Other: Faithless, Strokes, Chems
Dance East: Fatboy Slim, Leftfield, Deadmau5
JP: Thomosexuals, Yeah yeah yeahs (too big?), Weezer (would see this band over any other this year)
Park: Gorilaz (secret set, totally unannounced with no rumours), Paolo Nutini, Florence and the machine
Jazz: OutKast on one of the days...

Oasis - Biggest and Best band of the 90's by a mile. The Heaton park shows last year were awesome
However as has been stated Glastnobury isn't Liam's cup of tea so doubt they'll be playing

Hi All,
It is inevitable that every year not everyone is happy with the Glastonbury headliners, so I thought I would open this thread to see who else peole want/expect to see headline other stages.
I for one am not disappointed with the headliners as such, but I will only be watching one of them (Stevie, providing he is as nailed down as we think). I dislike U2, but I have seen Muse 5 times. I just feel their newer stuff is as about as enjoyable as scratching a chalk board with your teeth!
I'll start, I think we may see Broken Social Scene headline a smaller stage this year, along with Thom Yorke and I hope The Pixies play The Other Stage Friday or Sat night.
Maybe wishful thinking thought!
What do you other haters want/expect?

Imagining it now.
'Isn't She Lovely' over the Pyramid field. Flags aloft, people singing along.
It's going to be beautiful.

So it's not really a young persons slot on Sunday after all!!
and how can anybody be completely pissed off, I'm sure there will be huge acts headlining elsewhere and lets face it, there is always somewhere else to go...
