Thornborough is a live music festival set in a nature reserve in the Yorkshire Dales. This annual festival was set up in 2004 to highlight the threat to Thornborough Henges, an important and ancient Yorkshire site, just a few miles from Grewelthorpe.
Tarmac Northern Ltd quarred the Thornborough ancient monument complex and Tarmac applied to quarry even more of the monument complex.
The event was successful and in 2007 North Yorkshire County Council ruled against further quarrying.
This event was replaced by regular spontaneous celebrations at the stones on the solstices and equinoxes.
