Solas Festival 2011

Solas Festival takes place from Friday 24th until Sunday 26th June 2011 at Wiston Lodge, Wiston, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Line-up

Main Stage:
Friday night (from 8pm): Emma Pollock, Michael Marra, Emily Smith, RURA.
Saturday night (7.30pm): The Campbells, Iain Archer, Stanley Odd, The Starlets.
Plus: Graham Spiers, Gerry Hassan, Kathy Galloway, Samba Sene, and Robert Irvine.

Tickets

Early bird tickets are no longer available. An adult weekend ticket is priced at £95, An adult concession weekend ticket is priced at £65. Youth weekend ticket (for ages 12-17 years) are priced at £30. Children aged 0-11 can attend free but still require a ticket.

A Friday or Saturday evening ticket (Flat Rate) is priced at £15. An adult Saturday all day ticket is priced at £35 (Concession £20/Youth £15). Solas Festival aims to create a generous, hospitable space in Scotland where the arts can be performed and enjoyed by all. The programme also makes space for challenging debate with activists, writers and thinkers from across the political, cultural and religious spectrum. Solas Festival offers a creative and entertaining programme for festival-goers of all ages in a safe environment.

Film

Film Producer Alan Greenspan is guilty of an extensive backlog of movie classics including Pushing Tin, High Fidelity and Donnie Brasco and will be showing and discussing his biography over the weekend. Other films include, Of Gods and Men, Budrus, Great African Scandal and Whale Rider.

Talks/Literature

Kathy Galloway is the director of Christian Aid Scotland, our partner group and will be one of many to open up a weekend of debate and discussion around our perceptions of "arts, faith and justice". Other speakers include, Pete Ward, David McNair, Sol Oyuela, Gerry Hassan and Sr Karen D'Artois.

Children/Workshops

From youth orientated activities such as Fischy Music, promoting emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing in children through songs, to Litography and a gospel choir, Solas Festival actively encourages audience involvement and a sense of community.
