Simple Things Festival 2011


Simple Things is a brand new one day music and visual festival taking place on Sunday, 1st May 2011, and situated in the heart of Bristol, across 3 city centre venues. The Festival also takes place in a 800 capacity secret location to be announced on the day.

Line-up

Colours, No Need to Shout + Crack Presents: Jamie XX, Chris Clark (Club set), Gonjasufi (6 piece band), Floating Points, Bibio, Jon Hopkins (Live), James Yuill (DJ Set), Fantastic Mr Fox, Baths, Daedelus, Hexstatic (AV Set), Kutmah, Duffstep, Shadow Orchestra, Microburst, Astroid Boys, The Other Tribe, Vespertine, Smallsaul, Portmanteau DJs, Martipants, Kelly Twins, Ben One + Awkward, Visuals by Lumen & Fata Morgana.

Chai Wallahs Presents: The Correspondents, Babyhead, The Nextmen, Yes Sir Boss, First Degree Burns, Big in Lights, DJ Moneyshot, Tin Roots, The People's String Foundation, John Hendicott, Origami Dinosaur.

Fear Of Fiction Presents: Anika, Zoon Van Snook, Entrepreneurs, Oh Jupiter, Branches, Idles, Million Way, The Fauns, Kill Cassidy, Kayla, The World At Large DJs, Something in Construction Records DJs, Sink Ships DJs.

Courtyard: Warp Films showcase, Fun and Games from Squeaky Hill & Friends

Taking in a huge melting pot of genres from hip hop, electronica, funk, dubstep and everything in-between. The event will include 5 stages including a secret location. Organisers have also teamed up with festival favorites Chai Wallahs to host one of the stages.s.

Venues

The Old Firestation is a huge expansive project consisting of 3 main venue areas. Incorporating an ex-fire station, two police headquarters and a expansive courtyard complete with fire tower. It takes up an entire city block and is in the heart of the city centre. Home to the renowned Invisible Circus, The space is one Bristol's most exciting and innovative venues.

Other entertainment

In the Courtyard over the course of the day Warp Films will be showcasing some of their releases from the last few years. A stage of local bands and DJs hosted by Fear Of Fiction will chowcase a range of local talent and will be headlined by Geoff Barrows (Portishead) newest project Anika.

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
